1. I've got a blue ltd1 that a bought used a couple of years ago. The seller was the original owner from new, and its anything BUT a POS! good enough for Billy, good enough for me! takes some getting used to with that huge neck mind you!!! peace c
2. when i get a chance (hopefully tonight!) i'll be sticking the SB900LE up in the 'for sale' section along with some more pictures and stuff so you'll be able to check the bass out a bit better. peace c
3. ....."Pointy things, Pink things" hmmmm....... I'm selling my immaculate Ibanez SB900 Limited Edition - Pointy and Pink (..well ish!) - it has kinda 'two-tone' paint that looks different depending on what light its in - (goes from a kinda pinky lilac to bluey purple), active, fantastic fast thin neck, original hard case. Yours for £350 + postage therefore leaving you plenty of change for spending on other goodies!! peace c
4. ooooh! heard about these in an interview with Billy a while back - look very nice (would like to see the red 'un) - best i start saving up!!! having said that - i then vaguely recall reading somewhere that they decided not to go into production with them!..... we'll see eh! peace c
5.
the guy in the Stereophonics also hacked around a Stingray- took the MM pickup out and had 2 J's put in, with a new pickguard. then he sold it to the Bass Centre- and started playing Jazzes
yeah i was gonna mention that, he used it in one of their old videos (1000 trees maybe?) and i always thought it was quite neat!! peace c
6.
As a rule I prefer to be a different colour to the background.
...haha.... dunno why but that sentence amuses me!! anyways... i really don't like bands who just turn up and play in their normal street clothes that they've been wearing all day! you're there to put on a show so make some effort!!! Oasis used to really bother me seeing them standing around onstage in their dufflecoats and stuff and then of course all the wannabe bands started doing the same! grrrrrrr!!! in my band we all wear black/very dark or camo or combinations there of. Normally tee shirts with some sort of 'cool' logo on and also some wristbands/jewellery etc!! peace c
7. i read a similar article ages ago - really not keen on the white stripes at all - theres the occasional hint of something promising in bits of it but really, that drumming is sooooo bad its unbelievable. clumsy, basic to the point of amateur, borderline being out of time - absolutely atrocious. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! peace c
8. yeah..Heaven and Hell + Mob Rules were, and in fact still are, fantastic albums. Dio rules..little fella! peace c
9.
Well put. A good instrument is a good instrument, whoever manufactured it, and whoever subsequently lent their name to it (or not, as the case may be!) I found a good 'un. It just happened to be a Billy Sheehan 10th Anniversary model... And Yamaha are as guilty as most with signature basses from Sheehan, Myung and Pattitucci at the very least!
sell that... to me... NOW!
10. I like Fenders me, but I totally agree about Fender's so called 'Custom' etc basses. Half the time they just look like and seem to have exactly the same features as the normal versions. I guess they're probably gonna be worth a bit more in the future but aside from that I really don't see alot of point. It wouldn't hurt Fender to be a bit more adventurous from time to time (something they seem to do more with the Squire brand these days). Also - just about every year, Guitarist magazine (and probably some of the others) has some kind of Fender (Tele/Strat whatever) splashed across the cover with 'Special Fender Anniversary Issue' 50th Anniversary of the Tele! 40th Anniversary of the Strat! there always seems to be something to celebrate! - 10th anniversary of scraping around for a cover feature more like!!! peace c
11. woah.... custom Ampeg 4x12 and 2x15 cabs would kick out some serious bassness! Heaven and Hell bass rig good, underated player too the old Geezer. peace c

13. Fingerstyle all the way for me - so much more versatile with different techniques etc and with 3 fingers speed has never been a problem. I tried out for an emo/metal band once a few years back and when I got set up and everything they were like 'oh.... our bass players normally play with a pick' so I really dug in with my right hand to get some bite and for some reason they were well impressed! peace c
14.
My "number one" is a 1995 Bernie Goodfellow GBIV Standard:
wheeeee! that looks very familiar! peace c
15. i used to use one of these 4x12 cabs - absolutely awesome sound - in fact i'm thinking about going back down the 4x12 route again.... peace c
16.
, The Crazy Gods Of Endless Noise,
woah! they were a cool band with some nice bass playing - saw em at reading and went and bought the album..still sounds quite good peace c
17. yeah i've seen this guys cliips before - very nice tone - very Geddy! peace c
18. thats pretty sweeeet! you can't beat a jazz bass for slapping and a poppin'! not so sure about his socks mind you!! haha...ah the 80's! peace c
19. Guilty as charged your honour! This week i have been mostly looking at jazz basses...before realising that i have actually already got one that i rarely play! I spend far too much time looking about on the internet etc for cool basses etc - whatever is taking my fancy that particular day. Thing is though - a new bass doesn't make you a better player - it might inspire you to pick up a bit more frequently when you first get it and i guess if its a 'better' bass it might make some things easier to get to grips with but they don't come with extra talent pre installed. Having said all that I will be putting some bits up on here for sale over the weekend to fund something new! aaargh the circle never ends! peace c
20. just stumbled across this little fella giving it the big 'un on his 8 string, whammy equipped bass! he seems to be enjoying himself! as do the crowd! Japanese fella on bass peace c
21.
Where are you based? It's raining and cold over here. Feels like November!
yeah i'll second that...its like november here too! serious rain, windy as anything, dark and gloomy = rubbish! wheres summer?! you do remember summer don't you? peace c
22. found this quite good old Mr Big clip - just the rhythm section going through a couple of tracks in the studio. Pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaF-t1_DQA8 peace c by the way - how do you embed youtube clips in posts?! cannee get it to work!!!
23. i'm afraid that these days i have pretty much zero tolerance for poor bands whatever they are playing. i'll always give them the benefit of the doubt but if, after a couple of songs, its obvious things aren't going to improve then i'm outta there! it always amazes me how many bands could potentially be quite good but are let down by just one individual member (often the drummer) - makes me wonder if they actually listen to what each other are doing - surely someone must realise! i am of course, old and cynical.... having said that, if a band is good i will watch and learn even if its a genre of music i'm not into, i can appreciate good playing/good songs etc. peace c
24. hmmmm.... yeah all valid points - but i think that seller must have felt like he'd walked into the slaughtered lamb - 'you're not welcome here..stick to the road'!! yes of course be wary of a newbie selling something straight away (especially a prestig£ bass like that) but to instantly assume he's a scammer without any evidence isn't good and theres ways and means to go about finding out if he's legit without dissing him. if he's a genuine bassist (and lets face it he probably is with a bass like that) he could well have useful things to contribute to the forum in the future once he's got the lie of the land - if he's made welcome as newbies should be. of course, once he's sold his bass we may never see him again..who knows! anyways.... i'm basically typing as much as possible to avoid doing any work....bah....suppose i'd best get on! peace c
25.
I'd far rather listen to a covers band that played with heart and feeling and were tight than had the notes absolutely perfect as per the original record.
...oh we do all that too, in fact people always comment on both how tight we are and how much we move around and seem to be enjoying ourselves etc on stage...which we normally are! peace c
