I have owned both and completely agree with Joe's post above. There is no better just what may be best for you. If you are looking for the early 60's vibe and considering spending a lot of cash give consideration to Alleva Coppolo as well - It cured my GAS for a couple of months :-) Also all of the Fender Custom shop instruments I have played have all been wonderful basses!
Some (rather weak) images of mine - I'll try to do better later in the week if the sun comes out. The spec is as an LG4 Classic Supreme (but I think it was just known as a 'Standard' when it was built). The bass is around 9 months old and apparently is the last bass built in the NY shop before the move to California. It's a nitro finish with a Dalbergia Negra board. I'll get a review up and comparison with a couple of other Jazzes when I have a chance.
Congrats on this one Loz, looks like a real beauty!! Is that the one from Talkbass that used to belong to Tommix? Looks like it may be. I bet it sounds fantastic :-) Steve

ON HOLD UNTIL NEXT WEEK SALE IS PENDING!!! Yet another bargain from my good self. One of the nicest rays I have played. Cosmetically the maple neck is grubby as I have tried to show, its not that bad but is no where near new. The odd ding but nothing to get excited about. After the money so no trades thanks. Also, not really interested in posting this so cash on collection and due to the price if you want me to meet you its petrol money on top. No Case included hence the price and collection/meet up requirement. I will put strings on it but they won't be new, again down to the price. 3 band EQ. This really is a great playing great sounding Stingray - I am in North Birmingham if you want to check it out!! Heheh!
Come on Nick - you need to get to the magic 100 to be a serious bass player :-) Get it bought!!!! Think how you could slap this one!!!
Thanks for all the comments guys, Its a gorgeous bass and as i said its a feeler, I don't want to sell but would like to change my car, settle a few debts etc etc ... you know the score. Birdy's post has gone but the bass stands me; Initial purchase (un working), electronic repair, ancillary work and paint by Dave Wilson, new East pre amp, Ernie Ball knobs, Chrome Strap Buttons, Nickel Screws, Total cost of circa 1100 , I would need to cover this or close to, to make it worth selling. Thanks Dave
I removed my post after I realised that you have had a lot done to it and didn't want to divert from the sale of this lovely bass!! Have a BUMP on me :-)
Sorry maybe I did'nt make it clear - I am the potential buyer
Well in that case I think its a decent price. I have seen them go for £550 but thats rare. If you want a ray I would snap it up! Steve EDIT: You did make it clear, I just didn't read it properly
I've been offerred one of these with a case. It has a few dings, maple neck and the transition style bridge, 2 way pre-amp. I've been offerred it for £600.
Depends how keen you are to sell in my opinion. I have one the same but 3 band eq and we valued it at £700 as part of a trade. £600 could be reasonable if you want to get rid. Steve
