3. Jimmy Nail played bass in the file 'Still Crazy'. I actually own the bass he played in the film which was his own personal one. Steve

  5.
I think £1k is pushing it. There's a 75 original bass on ebay with a changed guard at £1399 from Musicground, never the most modest sellers. I'd price this bass (with the changes) more at the £700 to £800 mark. I bought an all orig 73 for £900 a few weeks ago, and they're still available. Whatever quality the refin, it's going to knock the price into touch. An all orig 75 in CAR... I've never seen one... Good luck with the sale... It looks a beauty.
Isn't this a 71/72 though? If so makes it slightly more valuable than a 75? My rule of thumb is to half the real value for a refin and then start knocking off little bits more for other non original features. I suppose ultimately it depends on what it sounds and plays like. If I was in the market for something like this I wouldn't think the price was too far off the mark personally but would be looking to negotiate a little.

    Just Arrived!

Thanks guys, I have been playing her most of the day and I am suprised how versatile she is. The previous flea bass I had was more of a one trick pony. Not sure if the electronics on this are original as its got a stacked bass and treble knob, volume and what I think is a middle. Supposedly Bartolini 9v preamp - I will get my screwdriver out later. With a little bit of treble added you can get a really nice sizzle. I know what you mean about the sparkly finishes, I had a silver sparkle and thought it was just a touch too much to gig with so this is ideal. The black sparkle is really nice however and theres one on eBay in the states but he won't ship to the UK. Will try and get some sound clips sorted in the not too distant future! Steve
  7. Just got this from the states and its fantastic. Its a 97 model with the coveted Lane Poor pick up and it sounds huge. I have had a flea bass before and regret selling it but prefer the understated colour of this one as opposed to the sparkle finish of the previous one. Its light as well!
  8. September 15th is the date it 'should' be given the last 4 and the dates involved. Thats the first step to agree a date. Cue.....I can't do that one how about....
  9. PM sent. Gas is a terrible thing.
The Aria is now gone and I'm waiting for Birdy to get back to be about the Flea
10. I sent you a PM and eMailed via eBay - did you receive them? Steve

    Midlands Bass Bash

Guys, I dont know if you would agree with me but it may be nice to do this twice a year. Typically the 'national' bass occurs mid March and Mid September and is really good and my way of thinking was that the regional bashes were maybe to give people a chance to get together between these. On reflection not sure how popular December would be but why dont we look to have another one sometime in November which is typically a low gigging boring month. Thats my thoughts, not expecting you to host it again NAS unless you wanted too! Steve

Really sorry I missed this. Unfortunately our saturday evening gig required an earlier than expected start so it wouldn't have been feasable but looks like you all had a great time. Stunning pics and a superb venue. Steve
  13. Hi Garry nice gear. How are you finding the apple for recording and how many tracks can you record simultaneoulsy with that set up? Could you do a live band? Steve
  14. This is spot on. Also I would suggest something as simple as changing the strings can make a massive difference. Steve
  15.
Hartke 410 XL - i think there is one in the for sale section for £200....
Yes I think funkmunky has one for sale.

This sounds great! Would like to thank you for your generosity in having us all round! Steve
Hi to all who are interested in attending the proposed "Midlands Bass Bash" - which started as the "East Midlands Bass Bash" and I rather hijacked by offering a venue in the West Midlands! The date we all seem agreed on is SATURDAY 16th JUNE which is now just under two weeks away. Everyone who has expressed an interest seems happy to bring some "splash and dash" food and drink, although of course the house will provide some simple fare. As to timings, we are very flexible here (we being me and my better half - Mandy - whose family are the historical occupants of this ancient pile) and so are very willing to be guided by attendees requirements. It sounds as though a number of you have quite a way to come and would therefore like the "core event" to start late morning or early lunchtime. Some also seem to have only a brief time to stay and have to dash off to undertake more serious responsibilities. Given that half the fun is meeting each other I would like to get an agreed "core" start time so we can aim to get as many people together as possible. Any suggestions as to a good way to do this? My best suggestion is to set a start time of the event of say 11:30 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. load in time for anyone who is bringing the kitchen sink! How does that seem? People can then stay as long as they feel happy until say about 6:00 p.m. when we'll start winding down. Does this seem sensible? I hope I've forwarded directions to most people who have expressed an interest. If you haven't had these and are planning to come do let me know. Can anyone think of any other arrangements that need to be made? Best to all, Nick S
17. I was thinking that some of the 80's Aria basses would be a reasonable investment. Anything by the fender custom shop should also bode well for the future in my opinion.
What are your timings ?
Approximately leave my house about 10:30, solihull at 11:00, Nicks house at 11:45. Leave Nicks about 1:45 back home for 3:00 give or take half an hour either way. Can only really make a couple of hours as gigging night before and on the night and family stuff to do as well... Steve

Have fun chaps .
I have to go past Solihull if you want a lift there and back...providing you can fit in with my timings. Steve

Personally I think we should go with the 16th June (sorry Paul). From previous experience ANY date that we pick will have someone who can't make it and at the moment the 16th is good for most. If we enjoy it there's no reason why we couldn't do again in a few months anyway and theres always the 'national' bash to look forward too. On the food and drink side of things I think we should all aim to bring our own within reason. As an example I will come for 2-3 hours and will bring some soft drink and if I get hungry will go and get a sandwich from a shop or sort myself out. Steve
I can see this is going to be a challenge! It would appear that skywalker and Paul Cooke are mutually exclusive on dates. Trying to gather information from earlier on the thread we've got: Gazm - 16 June presoulnation - no preference? Bernmeister - no preference skywalker - 16 June (not 7/14 July) birdy - 16/23/30 June Machines - no preference? Mobius - before 22 June Sugden - 16 June Paul Cooke - only 7/14 July NAS - 9/16/30 June 7/14/28 July 4/25 August. So, the 16th June would be OK with many except PC - sorry about that. Shall we go with the 16th June anyway and do the best we can with that? This url should take you to a map showing the location. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=36...4&ay=273022 Once we have list of possible attendees I'll send out full instructions via PM or email. Anybody else interested? Nick S
Well theres been the national meets in Northampton which Paul C has organised but the main point of this one was just for midlanders to get together while we wait for the national one which will probably be in September. The last midlands one we had was in Birmingham and I think there were about four of us. I think you may be better having a tighter time window so as to not inconvenience you too much although in theory if people want to come from outside the Midlands then the more the merrier! Steve

Hi Nas, thats a really generous offer and I would be willing to drive over to your place and bring some of my gear with me. My only problem is the potential times. Obviously you don't want people arriving all day etc so what were you thinking of in terms of when people should arrive and leave? From my perspective I would need to leave early afternoon as we have a gig later on. Thanks for the offer. PS aren't we missing some people like bassplayer2106 and DemonGene etc? Steve
  23.
I've played this at Steve's house before, it's a lovely bass, I was like OMG, never held a bass this nice before in my life, no lie!
Yep, I have played this bass as well and was very impressed.
