Midlands Bass Bash
I think postponing it is a good idea for a few reasons. Firstly not everyone has made it over here yet - it almost needs to be republicised. Secondly I can't make next Saturday .
Agreed. Why dont we provisionally look at 16th, 23rd or 30th June and see when most are available. I can make any of those as long as its not too late in the day. Anyone else got a view on dates? Steve

    Midlands Bass Bash

Hi Guys, I suggested a Midlands meet as a few of us did it about a year ago. We got to the point of agreeing a date (next saturday) but were still haggling over a venue as people had differing views of where they wanted to go. I think with the site changeover it may be wise NOT to meet next saturday as thats pretty close now and not everyone may be here yet. Its a good idea for us to get together if we can for a few hours. If anyone does still want to meet next saturday by all means go for it but I haven't booked a venue etc........ Steve
  3. I quite like it the way it is but would also consider an off white guard that a lot of CAR basses have, I think its technically called mint maybe? Its sorta white with a slight green tint, I am sure you have seen one and know what I mean!

    Bruce Foxton
Recently, on my weekly drive to/from the south west, I have been working my way through a box of old cd's that were lying in our loft. This week, it was the turn of the Jam (greatest hits) and it struck me what a great overdrive/distortion tone Bruce foxton had. I know his weapons of choice was a Rick 4001 through a Marshall amp head, but does anyone know of a reasonably priced pedal that can achieve the same effect? Sorry if this has already been covered on here but I am just too lazy to search! My SWR has an inbuilt distortion circuit but that is far fizzier than the Foxton sound. IN RESPONSE TO THIS THREAD ON BASSTALK, Acidbass suggested the DHA pedal line, but does this give the warm power amp type distortion a la Foxton or more fizz. BTW my SWR (750x) has a valve in the front end which is the source of the overdrive circuit!
As well as the Rick didn't he use a Fender P quite extensively also? I know he recorded some stuff with one.
