  1. These are about three months old, they’ve had about thirty minutes use in that time, if that. I bought them because I tend to work late at night, and was disturbing my niece who’s room is next to my studio. These are are ‘open back’ type headphones, she complained she could still hear me. I’ve reverted to using my ‘closed back’ headphones that I’ve had for many a year. These are in absolutely mint condition. They come with all the original packaging, all cables, basically everything they came with. The price includes next day special delivery, so fully tracked and insured. The technical details copied and pasted from Amazon, which is where they were bought: Sennheiser is shaping the Future of Audio – a vision built on a 70-year history of innovation and a continued drive for excellence that is woven into our company’s DNA and culture. 2. I guess because they’re already playing and making music? They’re probably struggling with aspects, but manage to get by. Golf is a spontaneous and very public kind of thing, you hit the little ball with the stick and it’s meant to fly toward the hole, you’re being watched by other people and look silly if it actually flies toward some posh guy’s Merc. With playing bass or guitar you can have the luxury of spending hours and hours sitting in your room learning something note-for-note, before going out and playing it in front of people. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this approach, if music is your hobby then you should enjoy it.
  3. Thanks. It’s got a hipshot bridge on anyway, I’ll see if they do a straight replacement for it.
  4. I used to have a really lovely old Yamaha TRB6P, which as the P suggests, had a piezo pickup as well as normal magnetic pickups. I’m interested in having one fitted to my W&T Chronos bass. Can anyone suggest something suitable please?
  5. You could download a trial of Melodyne, see if that will do it.
  6. I use a lot of chords yes, also harmonics. I only play solo stuff though. It doesn’t take too long to get familiar tbh, it forces you to listen a lot deeper to what you’re playing. Yesterday I switched back to D, G, B, D, A, which is one I love. This is just an improvisation in D, G, B, D, A:
  7. An absolute bargain, sign me up. I promise not to mention that I thought he was dead.
  8. A lot of band leaders/show MDs specify Fender basses. I guess it’s an instrument they’re familiar with.
  9. Ah, the joys of only playing solo 😊.
  10. Yeah I read that sometimes the sun can react to ingredients in cosmetics; moisturiser and body spray etc. I do use moisturiser because I have dry skin. That Ibanez bass does look really interesting. What I’d love to get is a Hyperbass.
  11. Medium scale. My bass is 33”, I bought regular long scale strings and had to send them back. Luckily they came from bass direct who're brilliant.
  12. I actually thought he was dead, obviously wrong 😁. Crowdfunding is fine, I guess if you know the artist’s style and material. Too many people use it who you’ve never heard of, I get requests from people via social media quite regularly. With regard to this guy, surely he should be in a position to not need to resort to it? I also think that the money he’s asking seems to be rather a lot. Personally I wouldn’t donate, I hate funk, but I guess if you’re a fan of his, and have money to spare, then why not.
  13. This is sun poisoning, or Photodermatitis. I’d never ever heard of it. My head was massively swollen for a couple of days, now I look like a hamster who’s happened upon a rather tasty stash of something edible that he’s keeping for later. It’s not pleasant at all.
  14. This is the kind of thing I’m doing. Excuse the playing, I’d only been using the new tuning for twenty minutes of so here, I’m also suffering from something called Sun poisoning; feeling incredibly ill. I’d never heard of it before. I spent 3 hours last night in A&E.
  15. I’m looking for a couple of Hipshot's D-tuner extenders too.
  16. Three semitones up, that's really useful to know, thanks. I think the strings are .105, .085, .065, .045 and a .028 high C.
  17. The bass was designed by the builder I think for E to C tuning. He’s very much into the Garrison/Fodera thing.
  18. My standard tuning is E to C. I’ve tuned down.
  19. I’ve tuned lower. I was concerned about breaking the strings by tuning higher, plus I wanted to get some floppiness.
  20. It won’t be a regular tuning, just one of a few that I’m using, I was concerned because I’ve had to slacken off the truss rod quite a lot to be able to use it. I play very lightly, so don’t really have any flapping or buzz unless I want it. Another tuning I’m experimenting with is D, G, B, D, A. I usually use E to C tuning.
  21. If the same gear has sounded good previously, then it can’t have been the gear. Sometimes it’s psychological, you might have been tired, stressed or worried about something.
  22. I’m exploring the use of altered tunings. My current favourite is Bb, F, Bb, F, Bb. I’ve had to slacken off the truss-rod quite a bit to accommodate this. It shouldn’t cause any problems should it? Maybe it’d be better to switch to piccolo strings?
  23. I fancy changing the rather bland black-metal set on my W&T, to something a little more in keeping with the instrument. Anyone suggest somewhere to buy a set please?
  24. Maybe if your PA speaker/stand fell over, or gets knocked over onto someone? Or someone trips over a cable?
