Bump. Brand new bargain
2. Having just finished my dissertation I seem to have rather a surplus of books, and a definite lack of storage space for them My dissertation was about composition, which is something that I'm gonna be doing my Masters on, plus I haven't finished reading them yet, so I've had a sort out of those that I don't want I have therefore for sale a load of jazz books, all are in either excellent or good condition. The Jazz Theory Book - Mark Levine - good condition but has some pencil markings - £20 [s]Modern Jazz Voicings - Berklee Press - £10[/s] The Melodic Bass Library - Jimmy Haslip - £10 Charlie Parker Omnibook - £10 A Portrait of Jaco - £5 [s]Thinking in Jazz - Berliner - £15[/s] Chord Tone Concepts - Philip Mann - £5 All prices include postage, and discounts available for more than one book.
3.
DHL collected my bass from Thomann on Monday. According to the tracker, it hasn't moved an inch since then.
See my post above, Tuesday was a bank holiday so the first day would have been yesterday 😊. It would have spent Tuesday sitting in a depot with all the other backlog of parcels from Christmas and the new year.
4. 6th January is also a bank holiday in Germany 😊 So orders placed last week would've hit New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, then the weekend then 6tthJanuary.
5. As both a seller and a buyer, I always very much prefer to collect, or the buyer to collect (if possible, I know it's not always). Receiving any kind of payment through Paypal can be risky, not just a payment by their gift scheme. I read somewhere (may have been on here), someone paid for an item by the normal Paypal method, then collected it in person, and then reported to Paypal that they hadn't received it ! Obviously the guy couldn't provide proof of postage, because there wasn't any, so Paypal found in the buyers favour, leaving the seller without his item, and without the money.
6. I think we need to get things into perspective. It was the new year break in Germany too, maybe guys are forgetting that ?

This is brand new, never been used. http://earthquakerde...6/Tone%5FReaper £80 posted. Trades welcome for an Akai Headrush E1 or an MXR analog chorus.
8. One bass I've never played, but always fancied trying is a Wal.
9. Why not meet the guy at your bank, go in with him and pay he notes in over the counter while he's with you ?
10. I've heard a few recordings done using all these delay pedals, I have to say they sound pretty awesome. 😊
11.
Ive used plenty on nickel plated strings like mentioned above however im looking at pure nickel ones like the fender 7150 sets. Supposed to be more mellow and reduced finger noise but lower output as there pure nickel.
They'd have a higher output, I didn't know this until the other week, seemingly stainless steel isn't magnetic so they use a steel core, but nickel is magnetic.
12. If I'm using round wounds, then I use D'Addario nickel strings, sound really nice, and feel nice too. I find stainless stell to be too bright and twangy, they're ok if you want to sound like Mark King or Marcus Miller I guess, but I don't. I'm looking for a set of nickel flat wounds.
13. Strange what some people call s**t service To me s**t service is buying a ticket from London to Birmingham New Street, due leave Euston at 4pm, not actually leaving until 5pm, finally arriving at Birmingham International at 7.30, then being abandoned there to find my own way to Birmingham New street. Yes, that actually did happen, but this sounds like maybe an error, which taking into account the number of items they ship a week, will eventually happen. It also sounds more to do with DHL than Thomann, who I've dealt with numerous times, and will do again. Maybe the thread title needs amending slightly ?
14. If you adjust what you think is the pan, tap the pickups gently with something metal, you should be able to see if you're right, needs to be plugged in of course 😊 turn the control all one way, tap the pickups then turn all the other way, you should only get a tapping noise from 1 pickup at a time.
15. These are absolutely brilliant, they're just over a month old so are literally like new. they come with all the original packaging, and a really nice travel case that I bought separately. I'm only selling because I had a new pair of Sennheiser HD650's off my mom and dad for Christmas. http://www.amazon.co...keywords=athm50 These are amazingly detailed, I listened back to a load of mixes that I'd done, and was really pleased with, then spent hours re-mixing them I'd like £80 for the headphones and the case, that includes special delivery, or collection from Birmingham is welcome, and I'm gonna be in London either Thursday or Friday.
16. There was a mod retro clothing shop in Lincoln last year.
17. Not trying to be rude, but would you fit skinny suits ? Like someone else mentioned maybe try searching for photos of the image you want, then start loloking based on that. There is or used to be a retro clothes shop at the custard factory in birmingham. Maybe try eBay ? 😊
18.
Good teachers aren't just good players. They understand the art of teaching. A good teacher will identify what you need and set you on a path that suits your way of learning.
Well said, there are 1 or 2 guys I know who are amazing musicians yet pretty awful teachers, yet they teach at a well respected music college.
19.
I chose the Neunaber over the Blue Sky, as it has the most beautiful sounding decay. Blue Sky's more versatile, but didn't sound quite as good to me. Can also vouch for the Neunaber sounding fantastic with the El Cap! ;-)
Thanks
20. Sounds like you probably need to learn a bit of basic theory regarding scales/chord tones, and some aural stuff to help identify intervals etc.
21. I also sell via a production music company site that's based in the US, I guess that's digital, but I've heard nothing about that. When they first accepted me, I had to complete a declaration so I wouldn't be taxed on money I make from them.
22.
I understand Bandcamp are stating they'll do all the VAT and you do nothing but I haven't read that anywhere. If you only sell via Bandcamp I guess none of this affects you.
See my earlier post, but here it is again http://blog.bandcamp.com/2014/12/30/eu-digital-vat-changes-and-bandcamp/
23. I price mine on Bandcamp so the buyer pays what he/she wants. I have no way of adding VAT onto the price, seeing how I don't know how much they're gonna pay I also use an artist name on all my stuff, and I doubt I've made more than a few hundred in the last 4 months anyway, would it really be worth HMRC's time and money in trying to discover who I actually am, in order to claim a few pounds off me ?
24. Not the case now - http://blog.bandcamp...s-and-bandcamp/ It was also, to my understanding anyway, it was if you sold via your website, that didn't include iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp etc.
