I'd be inclined to suspect there was already a fault with the driver (going on what you've said so far). Though if you had the lows boosted quite a bit, then that could cause an issue.

I was looking for a decent set of headphones for very little money. I was almost buying a pair of Sennheiser HD201s until I saw this thread. I know £75 isn't a lot for a decent pair of headphones, but with that being out of my reach (there's other things I need to buy), the Edifiers are very tempting. I wouldn't expect the build quality or after service of a more expensive pair of headphones, but to have a good sounding set of headphones for not a lot of money is a great thing when the pennies are tight.

If you're listening to the studio version, there's every chance you'll need your own sound engineer to get it the same. I don't know the song, but is it the exact same sound live?

I'd love to be a house bassist. Electronica is the closest that I've got. House music has some superb basslines.

Learning a new technique always helps when I hit a wall. Just now it's double thumbing.

If you have a mac, open Garageband (or Logic) & you can take a drummer track & transport it into a midi track. Another great place for loops of all sorts is wikiloops.

I've looked at both the Blackjack & the Apogee Duet. The blackjack sounds good, but it does lose out on the midi. The apogee is too dear for me.

If it wasn't so far away, I'd be there in a shot.

Other than the intro, the main body of the song is root notes with incidentals. When it first came out, I had the album & the book of score to go with it. Used to be able to play the whole album from start to finish on the bass.

How do you get on with the rest of the band? Have you discussed it with them to see what they want to do? Why don't you & the singer start a side project with another guitarist & then after a couple of weeks ask the keys player to join & then invite the drummer a week later. Slowly displacing the old band. I did this in a previous band.

It's not a riff, it's hi hats. When the guitar comes in doing the 8th chug & then roll them off again when the guitar stops. Saying that, I like it how it is. Nice work.

I always found for the input gain, play whatever you play loudest (usually plectrum or slap) & increase the input gain until it clips, then back it off a touch.
