1. Quality stuff! Man, I need to get back gigging, get some money & see if I can join the club!!!
2.
It was Alex who recommended the Eminence 3015LF to me and I can vouch for it's excellence as a woofer, but cab size also affects bass response and volume.
It's probably the biggest contributor. Speaker diameter makes no difference as long as you're using enough cone to move air (PJB cabs use 5" drivers). My MarkBass 2x10 is a LOT louder, bassier, cleaner & just all round better than the old Trace Elliott 4x10 I used before hand.
3. Nice one. Now, does OBBM do endorsements???
4.
Gives me an idea in fact... 'distressed' amps and cabs to match those road-worn guitars... "Turn your bedroom-perfect bass rig into something any road-weary touring band would be proud of! Just make cheques payable to Skol Industries at the usual address, and leave the rest to our team of 'expert' distressors. We'll have your precious gear looking knackered and broken in no time, guaranteed. Just like Jaco would have wanted!"
Too Late!!! Ampeg already make em.
5.
Haha yes. Interestingly (subjective) it doesn't matter if they are straight or not on a 1 string.
I'd heard that too. As long as the centre of the fret lines up with the note being played. What about when you want to bend a note tho? I suppose depending which way you bend the string would determine if it goes up, down or stays the same in pitch???
6. I think they spent too much time getting the frets straight! They should've used the 2 parts of a P p/u separately.
7. Here's a better 2 stringer.
8. What about building a BFM T39?
9. You could always pop a compressor in your line for the slap parts.
10. Here Higgie, get your chorus on the board & set it to full speed ahead. It'll give you some brilliant Roni Size like sounds (eg, Changed my life).
11. No! Use a hammer instead. Only messing. The advice still stands.
12. Use your ears & you should have no probs. Are you using the big board with this finger funk?
13. Are "What HiFi" buying into snake oil or is there some truth behind this? From what I've been told they don't make any difference. http://www.whathifi.com/review/russ-andrew...erkord-w350i-ag
14. Leave unplugged from mains. Unscrew lid & look at jack socket. Push springy bit with small flat screwdriver towards centre of jack's diamiter. Check solder & resolder if neccessary.
15. I take it your bass has no PA support? I'd go for either a 2x10 or 1x15 8Ω cab & then add a 2nd identical one stacked vertically. I wouldn't worry about trying to get the full 350 watts out your head to one cab as no one will notice the difference at a gig. Have a look in the "cabs for sale" on here.
16. Always wanted to play Phat basslines? Does your bass sound thin in the mix? Then you need LARD! LARD will fatten up your bass making it possible to produce those phat bass lines that you've always dreamed of and a 250g block can be yours for just £27.99! Just PM me today with some money & I'll send you a free sample* So what are you waiting for? Get your bass fattened up NOW!!! *To be eligible for a free sample you will be required to send just £9.99 to cover postage & cutting charges.
17. Unlocked? A bit like opening a floodgate! I've never seen a thread so busy. I'm with Alex on this one in respect of his rights as a consumer, but if he likes the bass loads & obviously felt it was worth the money when buying it & if it still plays just as well, then what's the issue other than it's not all from the crap era it was supposed to be from? After this thread, it might actually be more valuable!
18. As a pick player, you should try double thumbing. Instead of this being some porn related manouvre, it is effectively using your thumb as a pick. Try it by resting your index finger on your thumb (as if holding a pick) to start with if needed & hopefully you'll start to get to use the other fingers as well. I'm new to this technique, but finding it fun. The secret to playing with fingers is just practice. All of a sudden it'll come to you & you'll wonder where the trouble came from.
19. Nope, don't do anything for me
20. I've just started messing more with the VLE & VPF in conjunction with one another & getting some brilliant mixes by putting them both somewhere between 10 & 12 o'clock. Suits my fuzzy filtered sound very nicely. I still want to add a sub.
21. I've just bought 2 AKG D5s off iMuso for £49 a piece. Will let you know how they are either Sunday night or Monday sometime (will be getting used on Sunday).
22. I've tried a few MarkBass rigs & never had boomy (unless on a wooden stage) or muddy (without intention). Could be anything tho. The bass, the room & so on.
23.
The cost of building and finishing cabinets hasn't come down much.
Like Ampeg?
24. I use a Boss CE-2 (borrowed from guitarist) & it sounds very nice. Not tried any other choruses tho.
25. I found one before from MarkBass. Got a RoqSolid & it does the job very well. Edit: Here we go.
