It's got that bloody lower horn "Slap scoop"......Keep that away!!!
Well... if you custom ordered that with a clear lacquer and no scoop....... I'm sure prospective purchasers will look at the pictures and judge for themselves
 2.
Anybody know where i can find some tabs for the M.O.R. album. I know the basslines were originaly played on a keyboard, but i'm hoping i can find some tabs to be able to play them on a four string. In particular i'm looking for the song Sweet Joy. Cheers, Rob
Woke up this morning.... theme from the Sopranos. Fantastic track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWUW2Vcb_-k
 3. The mad run at the start (of course). What the hell is he playing?
 4.
hmmmm, i'm sorry too but THIS IS really a Yam.TRB6!!! but never seen like this one! If you allow me to tell you that it is a part of the 2nd serie made in Japan between the first TRB-P and the last TRB II,so it looks very near of a J.Patitucci model, and effectivly whithout the bottom horn scooped but with a thin dark binding on the body, the location of the 2 plastic cover comfirm it,and especialy the 2 truss-rod on the neck part which is typical of this particular serie, (the -P model was neckthru and the -II model was once again different) and about the jack:it's the best to have like Patitucci understood it and asked to the R&D men to put on the 2nd J.P. model. Finaly from my opinion it's look really as a prototype one! and:.................wooooooooaaaaaaaaaaah, i love it!!!!
Now you mention it... this does look a lot like a TRB-JP... ....with presumably a custom body. Which could make the thing very interesting and unusual.
 5.
Please, if anyone has any gripes about this bass, please take it up via PM with the seller. Thanks
Seriously? At the risk of getting thrown off... it's one thing bitching about the price but another if you know the make and it looks (shall we say) unusual. It deserves a comment to assist potential buyers who may not be so familiar. I would hope that would be the case if I was buying anyway!
 6.
Will post some clearer pictures this evening for those who believe this is a fake (thanks guys) Was originally bought used from a reputable bass dealer in London (Bass Centre) I have a copy of the receipt which I can also post if that clarifies things. Have also made it quite clear that anyone who is interested is welcome to come and try the bass to verify its quality. To reiterate I'm in the Herts/Essex area. Thanks
Just to reiterate... I didn't say this is a fake. I don't think anybody else did either. I can safely say it is definitely not a production TRB though. The hardware, battery covers, neck fixing etc. all look correct but I've never seen a neck quite like that or pickups of that type in a TRB. The body actually looks like a TRB1006 but with the battery cover etc. from the more expensive Japanese model. All in all it's very strange - doesn't make it a bad bass though.
 7. I dunno... I would want to check this one out carefully. It just doesn't look like a TRB to me. The jack is wrong (TRBs are recessed at a strange angle). The truss rod slots appear to be cut in the neck where all TRBs I have seen have them cut in the body. The body looks a bit... well... home made to me too. I definitely don't want to be "that guy" but I smell a rat. I would want some guarantee of providence if it was me. I've owned quite a few TRBs and this just doesn't sit right with me. Sorry.....
 8.
Trying speaking to some of the local businesses (Esp. the backpackers hostels) in the area about the place, they should be willing to help. We usually take a week's holiday on Skye about this time, rent a cottage. Skye's pretty quiet this time of year and a lot of the hotels/visitor attractions etc shut down for holiday's/refurbishment etc, simply because there's no one there! I could be wrong though. Because it's just on Skye, maybe it gets more visitors and Kyleakin is a bit of a Bacpacker hangout. If you do go, make sure you consume plenty of Skye Black Cuillin, on tap-Gives Guiness a run for it's money IMO!
I think they are talking about January, February. We will probably get stuck in a snow-drift somewhere I don't drink but the other guys in the band more than make up for me!!
 9. You can trust Ebay feedback now? I didn't know that!
 10.
Played on skye once at a village hall type of thing and had an ACE night (folk/funky/tradtunes band) Id say give it a go. how often do you get food /accomodation/paying gigs seeking you out? you must be a good turn & even the BEST( not that youre not!!) of bands seek them out, if you know what I mean
Doubt it.... more like they are desperate.
 11.
Accommodation? Food? Money? Cheers for that, Mr Blob - definitely worth a look, and would give us a chance to exercise our seldom-used covers set! Jon.
He told me that it's not all covers bands... so you might not have to plumb such depths
 12. Just on the off chance..... has anybody played this venue? http://www.castlemoil.co.uk/kinghaakonbar.php Had a rather random call from them asking if we were interested in playing. It's a day away (even from Glasgow) but they are offering food + accom + money which is not something that happens to us very often. Wondered if anybody else had been there are they seem to book a lot of bands. Is it legit I suppose - it's a lot of diesel to find it's some weird wind-up If you are located in Scotland and fancy Skye they might be worth a call I suppose. Number on website and the man you want is "Robert".
 13. I've got a "real" one in the same colours ands I'm struggling to see the difference. The only thing is that it doesn't have the compensated nut and that's probably just a gimmick anyway.
 14.
Actually this is a lot less than half the price of a new one - according to the review in last months Bass Guitard Magazine the list price is now £899, and who am I to disagree. I'm gradually learning to love mine, and it doesn't look as nice as this one.
I've got a bl**dy Overwater but every time I take my Tribute out (because its worked its way to the front of the heap) it's a case of "Oooh! Like this". They really are VERY good.
 15. They are much better than "good" - you can properly scare small children and animals with one of these - and this is half the price of a new one. Have a bump on me
 16. To Hijack your thread..... I'm going to Krakow on Monday... does anybody know.... never mind
 17. Maybe I'm terribly old-fashioned but I think people should show some damn respect for others. In most cases whether you claim to be playing for fun or not then you are either getting paid for your endeavours or hoping to. You have to give a little bit of "professionalism". If you say you are going to turn up then turn up. If you say you are going to learn the songs then learn them - properly. Try not to turn up pissed or stoned and try to remember it's not all about you. Unfortunately, music seems to attract drunken, useless egotists so there's probably no hope.

 20. Thanks to Bilbo I can now (more or less) play a Steely Dan song. Who would have thought?

Why does that not surprise me
 22. As I've mentioned before, I come from a classical music background (percussion, not a real instrument but still ). I've actually noticed that the type of music - like most pop/rock - that we might be naturally interested in was never 'composed' with being written in mind. It can therefore be particularly challenging as many parts are full of some very awkward, difficult to write (and hence read) syncopations. Even then, if you nail it spot on, it still doesn't sound *quite* right. I guess following Bilbo's advice and learning some material that started life being written as notation is making your life easier. Something like that........
 23.
F. Simandl, beginner trombone books, try my transcriptions of Milt Hinton and Ron Carter (under Theory and Technique), other transcriptions I have done here have been pretty easy reads (some less so).
Scuse me if I am being thick.... but where are the transcriptions you are talking about. We are in Theory and Technique??
 24.
I have very recently become an Overwater owner and seeing as this was one of my favourite threads anyway, I thought I should post. So here is my new Overwater (well new for me). Words cannot express how much I love this bass and how completely stunning the build quality is, I don't know how they do it. Anyway I love it, hope you like it too. Cheers, Nathan
It's rubbish, I don't like it Seriously... that's rather nice. Tell us a bit about it! That pickup arrangement is a bit unusual is it not??
 25.
You must be ill ! Ipanima starts on Fmaj9 - similar to Dm7 but subtly yet significantly different. The Major
I just keep learning stuff. Some of it even useful
