1.
What chords are you trying to play?
Any! What about a major chord - all three notes of it.
 2.
Yeah i have even worked out how to construct them but i cant seem to use them for anything apart from minor7ths,when noodling. It would be nice if there was some good tab for bass chords,i have always wanted to play pure imagination the song that gene wilder sings in willy wonka and the chocolate factory.
In my case it's because I don't play anything else and it would be handy just to play a chord (or a progression) to see what it sounds like - something like that.
 3.
any interest?
I know we're not allowed to do this but the reality is that it might be just a touch expensive. I have a TRB4ii that I paid 250 quid for and it was - effectively - new. I know the 4s are a lot more unloved than the 5s. It's a crime but these are some of the best basses around but they just haven't got the appeal of the more 'respectable' makes. It's even the best colour!! I'd love to make you an offer for this but I have too many basses already and the wife would kill be stone dead. Anyhoo - have a bump.
 4. This is another Bass Guitar Mag spurred question. I was reading the article about playing chords. I've spent the last hour or so bending my fingers into all sorts of contortions and am nowhere near being able to physically play a chord on the bass. I see now why he didn't cover this in the article. What am I missing, or is it, yet again, just bloody difficult?
 5. I've given it a shot and I would quite like to but it's clearly WAY difficult and I'm better off putting the hours and hours of practicing time into something more useful.
 6. "Pretty Vacant".... no messin' about
 7.
Janek attributes "I Want You Back" to Jamerson, when everyone knows it was [s]Carol Kaye[/s] (sorry, on autopilot there) Wilton Felder.
Don't worry he's been punished.... they got his web site URL wrong (in case you're wondering there's no www on the front)
 8.
Neck relief, nut height and any uneven frets will all affect any buzzes between fretted note and nut, I would say. Just to be pedantic ...
Yep - fair comment. I was assuming that the bass had no inherent problems of course.
 9. I know I'm repeating what some others have said but it's made out to be some mysterious process but it just isn't. Take it easy, think about what you are doing and you can't go far wrong. Just in case it helps - here are some tips I've worked out the hard way. Please shout if I'm wrong about anything. In no particular order. * When you fret a string and it buzzes - the ONLY thing that can affect the buzz between the fret and the nut is the neck relief. Between the fret and the bridge it's the neck relief AND the saddle heights. Just saying * Fit new strings and give them a good shove about (e.g. press down where they go over the saddles) to make sure they're bedded in. New strings because old ones can do weird stuff. * Take the trouble to get the right tool for the neck truss rod. If you strip it you'll be sorry. * Don't go radge on the truss rod adjustment. Small turns and wait. If it sticks or doesn't work it's a good time to see a pro. * Expect to go round and round in circles with adjustments as they are all somewhat interdependent. * You need to re-tune the bass after you change *anything*. A good tuner is vital. * The neck is probably not flat, so it's unlikely saddle height adjustments will be. * See how every bass you see has the saddles stepped up evenly from E to G. Yours should look like that too or you've probably done it wrong.
 10. Played on of our occasional freebee gigs in the pub that lets us practice in the back room FOC (if you don't count the beer purchased). Place was mobbed and (literally) jumping. One of those nights where you have to wedge yourself between the crowd and your gear, keep playing and hope for the best
 11. Excellent experience dealing with Mark - M-Bass-M Bought Bass Pod XT Live - transferred money straight to his bank, he sent it when I said he would, packed in the original boxes and in brand new condition. Very pleased. Cheers Mate
 12.
Just a shame these things aren't 20 years old. Then you can add 'vintage' to the description and double your asking price.
Only double?
 13.
Ah, but apparently this bass "has supported major artists such as 90's rock band Thunder, pop singer Lucie Silvas and x factor duo journey south". So that makes it worth more.
Actually this guy just gets better.... 14. There's a lot of it about.... here's one I noticed yesterday: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-electric-bass...Z200386945757QQ How much are/were TRB1005s new?
 15.
Last chance for BASS Chatters, or it has to go on the dreaded e-bay! & dont forget this is a genuine USA model, not a Tribute!
Where are you? And... is this sale only or are trades an option?
 16.
No the same difference at all mate........its a damned sight warmer in Hell
I bet Hell doesn't have..... err.... err.... err... err... the biggest parish church in England. Yay!!

 18.
That is the most blokish/nerdy room Ive ever seen.....in a good way. How many PCs/laptops? All you need now is a calendar of Hollyoaks babes....ive got one.
Only if NONE of them are running Windoze!!!

 20.
. And don`t anyone start lecturing me about learning by ear, reading quavers/dots on a line and all that muso stuff. That`s great if you can do it but I prefer the cowboy way.
You'll go to Hell (or was that Hull?..... same difference)
 21.
Yeh but a lot of songs still have the tabs (People have made ones that sound alike lol )
If you say so It's hard enough finding reliable tabs for songs that *do* have a bass line never mind ones that don't. I doubt any of these should be a huge problem to come up with a simple bass line that will do. Start simple... just the roots done right is a good start!
 22.
Hi, I am looking for some Tabs (Bass obviously) for the following songs: Won't Even Start - David Choi Man in the Mirror - James Morrison It's Too Late- James Morrison Waiting Room - Shane and Shane I have searched google etc, but cannot find the tabs. Any help? Cheers, Dom
You taking the pith..... at least two of those songs are bass-free acoustic
 23. I suppose it's in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think the pickguard shape on the 5 has ever worked as well as the "classic" shape of the 4.
 24.
Ok im a jazz bass man, but lately ive been playing alot of soul funk, and if found that the stingray 5 is just amazing for this stuff...the music calls for alot of damping, and just a groove.. but when i lay off the damping, the Stingray just gives me an amazing growl... i have always thought(if you like the S5 tone) that the S5 is the best production 5 string available today..way better than any Sadowsky or high end bass... the single humbucker is soooo cool to hear...i really think that a S5 is as good as an Alleva C, a Fodera.. the tone is superb, with such a character... anyone who hasnt played a S5 needs to play/hear one...seriously good bass..
As a matter of interest... do you think an SR5 makes a better instrument than the SR4? There is someone I know who has a HS one and that sounds great but they haven't filtered down to the second-hand misery market yet. I now seem to be a full-time 5 player (again) and by S4 is collecting dust!
 25.
Not quite sure how it happened but we decided to try out Survivor's mid eighties chart hit Eye of the Tiger ( the one from the Rocky film ) and it went down a storm in both our rocky pub set and our party/function set but is it a "mid eighties rock classic" or "total cheese" ?? I was definitely in the "total cheese" camp until I saw the audience reactions the last two nights and I think it is going to be in the set for a long time although I think it may have the potential to be a future "Mustang Sally" in the playing stakes Any thoughts ??
Think of it as 'ironic' and your cool credentials remain unharmed! That's what you tell yourself anyway
