I'm convinced that there are some users of this forum who couldn't see the wood in this pic.....
Are you talking about me?

We are so fortunate to have the choice - vinyl, CD, cassette, open reel, mp3 in a choice of bit rates and a host of alternative digital formats. And the only thing that really matters is the music
-
[
In the end the most important thing is: Do I like the music I am listening to or not?
Exactly. And what's so bad about listening to music whilst playing computer games, browsing the net, or as background 'wash'...? Bandwidth is still an issue in many parts of the world and mp3s allow easy fast music sharing on a global scale. It's easy to find music in higher quality and lossless formats if required, but most people are happy with standard mp3s. I don't believe they devalue music for the vast majority of the population at all.
-
If mp3s were invented first, would anyone bother inventing vinyl or CDs to replace them?
-
MP3s are far more accessible than CDs or vinyl and they are creating a revolution in music distribution across the globe. Most people don't care about the format - they just want to hear and be heard. Sound quality has been excellent for years and it just isn't an issue for anyone except audiophiles these days. It's the content, not the sound quality that matters, music should be cheap and plentiful and available to everyone, rich or poor. It shouldn't be the precious preserve of the rich and treated with reverence. If you are well off and you can afford the luxury, fine - you can buy the gear and treat your room, but don't expect the rest of the world to follow. You are an audiophile Si, because you know the difference between 320 and 128 kbps, while most people couldn't care less. You are an audiophile because issues with the reproduction prevent you from enjoying music and I find that a little bit sad. It's ok to be an audiophile and there's a place for you, but there's no cure
Mp3 is lossy and as a result evil ( ).
It's not evil Si - it makes music easily available to millions of people around the world. Most people are nor audiophiles and don't care about Hi Fi, but they can still love music
-
The CD versus vinyl debate is silly - haven't you heard, both are dead and gone! There's this new thing called mp3, also flac and wav files etc. and they are the biggest development in music recording and distribution ever. They sound great, they're better for the environment, they're cheap, you can send them down a phone line and share or stream them on line. You can store thousands of songs in a tiny space and they give access to music to far more people around the world. As musicians, you might also like that you can now record and distribute your music freely with ease in a global market. Most youngsters take them for granted nowadays, so come on people - keep up

Well said Stevie - I would like to add a little scientific research to the pot: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=steve Steve.

You'll be fine - PM me if you need any more help, I'm not an expert but I'll do my best. Steve.

Thanks Chedd - that's a new one for me and it will save a lot of fiddling about

They can easily be grabbed and moved with the mouse. Zoom in to the start and end using H as a hot key and G to zoom out. The blue line should start right at the start and end just after the end. Right click in the blue line and set the time to seconds and it will show the length of the song in real time.
The only way that would get me dancing is towards the nearest exit.
-
you have to set the Left and Right locators to the start and end of the song, then run an export.
This is the blue line at the top of the project window and should already be in the right place if it was last saved after a mix down.
-
I can confirm the above. Make a new folder on your desktop or somewhere easy to find and call it something you will recognise. Open the project in cubase and click file, back up project or save project to a new folder - back it up to the new folder. All the audio etc. will then be in the new folder. Take this folder to the studio and load into cubase there. As Cheddatom said, any missing plug ins will be listed.

I played the Vintage and Squier side by side and I preferred the Squier for tone and feel. The pick ups sound great, the electrics seem fine and I particularly like the ebanol board. But that's me and we're all different
-
I like my Squier VMJ fretless very much and I have not felt any need to upgrade it. The pick ups are good, the build quality fine and it sounds and feels great to me. I am not impressed by Mex Fender standards and I sold mine in preference for a Squier.
I was wondering whether a couple of reference tracks could be suggested by the Tacsi lads
I guess you mean particular tracks by other bands that we'd like to sound like, in which case no, we haven't got that kind of vision. I can say that we like 70s reggae, funk and soul music and this song started with the bass line, at a time when I was listening to a lot of Fela Kuti. We really appreciate the work that any of you put into it and there are absolutely no rules as far as we are concerned. Feel free to make us sound however you feel works best and hopefully have some fun with it -
