  1. I’ve just made the switch to a Handbox RA400 amp and therefore this little gem can go up for sale (she said). It’s a cracking 800 Watt Class-D amp that weighs under 2 kilos (or 4 lbs, if you’re as old as me), in extremely good condition. I’ve used it with my BareFaced SuperTwin for about 12 months, and never had it past noon on the Master Volume switch. Despite the dinky size, it kept up admirably with our drummer, but that’s another story. To be totally honest, I found the best sounds came from having all the dials at noon, with maybe a slight bit more on the Gain. Also, the three options on the Amp Voice Switch (Modern, Warm and Q-Tube) are all very useable. It has done about 25 gigs in a variety of settings (pubs, clubs, the usual) and has performed perfectly and without fault, and even drawn the odd bit of tonal praise too from occasional discerning punters who know their stuff. I picked up a new padded Boss case to protect it for c. £40, and that’s in with the sale too, as is a mains lead. New, these cost £699 from Thomann. There’s a nifty and very favourable review on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/YVm8OVBIR2Q and the other views on the web are all pretty darn good too, and rightly so. The manufacturer’s blurb is here: Bass Block V803 – Quilter Laboratories I’ll include insured shipping to any mainland UK address (or pop in if you’re local to Minehead, Somerset, and give it a try out at Chez Noakes) No trades, peeps.

  2. It still does, Andy - I’ll be sorry to see it go, but the finances and band kinda dictate that it does.
  3. It’s the usual story of instant attraction and lust, and then the heartbreak. I innocently wandered into BassBros (yup, fatal) with no intention of buying anything, and saw this. Plugged it in, played it for about three hours (sorry Will), tried quite a few other basses, mainly Rays, kept coming back to this, and bought it. All was well until the first gig when the band thought that it didn’t sit so well with our traditional sound (too powerful), whereas my Jazz bass did, and I can kinda hear what they mean. I’ve hung onto it for a bit, but as it won’t be earning its keep, and I have some costs coming up, I may as well move it on, albeit reluctantly. Plays great, sounds awesome (read the reviews), and is perceived to sound like a slightly more aggressive Stingray, but with two more tone options via the three way switch. There’s quite a few out there that prefer Sterlings to Rays, because of the tone options and smaller body. For a 25 year old bass it’s in very good condition, with only a few marks on the body and a slightly discoloured area on the back where someone had once placed a sticker, which is subtle and a pig to capture with a photo on a December evening, indoors. The electronics all work perfectly. Weighs just over 10 lbs, and the slightly smaller than a Ray body is just so much more comfortable. I paid £1,250 – I’ve seen a few at £1,250-£1,400 on Reverb recently – so I’ll take the traditional ‘hit’ and offer it up at £1,050, firm. It comes with two pickguards, and a Warwick gig bag. Would prefer a meet up at a mutually convenient spot. Here’s the BassBros link to the original post: https://bassbros.co.uk/sold-basses/1999-ernie-ball-music-man-sterling-4-usa-2/ …and here’s my inferior photos
  4. Owned from new, and about two years old. 1000 watts of great SVT tone, in a lightweight 7kg package. A good solid workhorse of an amp, which retails at about £1,100. The Ultra Hi and Ultra Low boosts really add to the tone, and I never needed to go above noon on the master volume. Performed perfectly (unlike me) and has never missed a beat (also unlike me). Comes with superb super-plush carrying case (none more plush??); check out the photos. Can ship, at your risk/cost, but would prefer to hand over somewhere mutually convenient. No trades, please. Here’s the official spec: Power: 1000 Watt RMS @ 4 Ohms, 600 Watt RMS @ 8 Ohm Preamp Tube ( 1 × JJ 12AX7), Class D Amplifier Tone controls: Bass, Mid, Treble, Mid-tone Mid-tone control: 5-Position Ultra Low/High Boosts Compressor Balanced Di-Out Preamp Out Poweramp In Switchable Pre/Post EQ 0/-40 dB Ground lift Aux In Effect loop Tuner Out Foot switch Out (footswitch optional) 2x Speaker Twist Out Weight: 7 kg
  5. I have owned this cab for about two years. I did have two, but part exchanged one against a Super Twin (on here), so this one is just loafing around nowadays. It is in amazing condition. It’s super lightweight, easy to carry with a small stage footprint and it sounds amazing. It's a 1x12" but has the fatness and depth to match some of the best 2x12" and 4x10" cabs. Reluctant to ship – would prefer mutually convenient meet up. No trades, please. Here’s the specs: Dimensions (H x W x D) 56cm x 44cm x 30cm 22" x 17.5" x 12" Weight Steel Grill 11kg / 23.5lbs Broadband Sensitivity 97dB Max Amp Power 600W RMS Max Output~127dB Frequency Range 30Hz -4kHz Impedance 8 ohms
  6. Downsize time, so there’s a bargain to be had on here by someone….. Pedaltrain Classic 2 in vgc Mono Tour 2.0 case in vgc 1Spot PSU in vgc ** Happy to split - DM me if any item is of interest ** The Classic 2 is an excellent size for pedals and a MultiFX and/or vocal FX - the one in the photo is not included! The case is very high quality, offering lots of protection, and will take up to the Novo 24 pedalboard. The PSU er, supplies power, faultlessly. I’ll round up as many of the cables that it came with, that I can find, which is probably most of them, and throw in a mains lead too. Price includes tracked shipping in the UK.

  7. Oops I did it again….popped into Bass Direct, and fell in lust. Immaculate condition, plays perfectly, set up is great, lightweight (just over 8lbs) and slim body too, and that slightly visible grain through the black - mmmmmm......so why sell it? Unfortunately I’m too settled with my Jazz basses and as much as I want to love this, I end up reaching for a Jazz every time. I paid £1,700 so I’m losing £500 and you’re getting a bargain, but that’s lust for you. One day I'll learn, and may even become faithful. Here’s the BD link with better photos and all the specs: Link here. Note though, that the fingerboard clearly isn't Pau Ferro, although the spec says it is! Comes with Sandberg gig bag. Prepared to ship at your risk, or meet up within reasonable range of Taunton. Trades or offers?
  8. Bought new from Bass Direct four months ago…..but something else has come up - you all know the score. If the ‘something else’ gets bought, then I’ll pull this ad, and keep it. I really do like it a lot. Sandberg Marlowe DK in red, as new. Well, it’s heavy aged when new, but it’s still in the same condition. Can you have an immaculate as new bass which is heavy aged when new??? Sounds great, plays great, nice and light, gigged about half a dozen times. More pics available if you’re serious. Want a new one? Save £300 and buy mine. Half-way meet within reason, or may ship at your cost/risk if I can find a box. Definitely no trades.

  10. So, Turnette Doone (for whom I do the bass bits) had a gig in Minehead at The Old Ship Aground on a Friday night several weeks ago. All good, well received, want us back etc, so happy days. The next day I flew to Australia for two weeks of work stuff - sounds cool, but it was hard work. Imagine my excitement when I see there’s a fresh comment on the FB gig post from ‘Mark Young’. More compliments?? More praise??? A gig enquiry for a wedding???? Well, not really. Check out his comments, and I hope my reply spreads some joy on here. People, eh?
  11. Absolute gent to deal with. Good comms, prompt payment, all round good guy - thank you.

  14. Zoom B6 multi in, so lots of things going out continues…. Superb DI pedal with ‘that’ VT thing going on. AKA Swiss Army knife for bassists / get outta jail pedal. I’ll stop now, as I suspect everyone knows how good these things are. As new, with box, and without velcro. Price includes tracked shipping.
  15. Now on hold - Lovely chorus with small footprint, and Toneprint functionality. Works perfectly, and in good condition. Velcro on base. Price includes postage.

  21. As per the title - I plugged it in, as the photo would be rather naff otherwise, and yes, the patch cable need tuning - in good condition, with velcro on base. Works perfectly, and very easy to see on a dark stage. Price includes shipping.
