I rest on the pickup or the low E depending what i'm doing, i don't really pay attention to it to be honest.

I don't even need to press play to know that i'm instantly going to dislike that video. Bass solo my arse.

i used to slap a bit when i was too young to know any better, now i rarely bother unless playing along to a chilis song!

wish i actually had a space to record drums..... and a drum kit..... and i could actually play drums! XD

yeah i learnt that bassline a while ago, it's a great song, just a shame glee covered it, i've not heard it though and i don't plan to.

yeah what rich said, jon shuker [i]is[/i] a one man operation in a shed and the only thing that isnt' custom about what he does is the body shape, and i daresay he would probably do a custom shape anyway if presented the right plans, just like someone on here did with iceni/zoot/whatever the hell they're called.

Generally I dont really like to hear distorted bass.. thats why I bought a Trace![/quote] lamb of god and machine head's bassist both use fairly heavy overdrive (i think they both use sansamps) and it goes really well with the music, yeah it doesn't cut through the mix amazingly sometimes, but it just blends together really well. Bass doesn't always have to be heard on it's own.

i used to play in drop tunings a lot, get some heavier guage strings and play on your bridge pickup, that should sort it.

i use it on my ABM a fair bit, mainly because when i bring in the valve drive, it boosts some mid frequency that i just can't find on the EQ, but the drive isn't really obvious, i keep it fairly low. A good valve overdrive really does trounce a digital/solid state overdrive circuit though.

But for me the Warwicks edge it on playability and tone IMO.[/quote] Yep, exactly the same here, i liked my stingray and SUB, but my warwicks just had nicer necks (IMO), smaller bodies, which i prefer and had the edge on tone IMO, so for me it was a no brainer. I like the sound of ricks, and the neck on the one i tried was alright, but i just don't get on with flat tops with no curve, particularly if it has binding

i've only ever had people ask me to play my instruments first, and i usually trust them, so i say yes - no drunk punters etc. I've had people in my bands just pick it up and start plucking, but they're good friends and i trust them by that point (and i always have strap locks on ) so i don't mind too much. I'm fairly protective over my instruments, if it's someone i don't know then i won't say yes, but a couple of dings never hurt anyone (especially on a natural finish 'wick)
