1. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your interest in the bass and for viewing this thread over the last (almost) a year. The bass is now SOLD to pajhartley
2. You live so far away. If you're ever anywhere near the midlands I'd love to check the bass out. I'm looking for a maple board P and yours is the closest to what I'm looking for.
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
4. So my ISA has just matured... I've always fancied a Wal MK1, but I doubt I could warrant it as I have a worry that I'll not be able to use it at gigs because it is so expensive. Are Wal really THAT good? Does anyone have one I could try?
5.
Think the last pic in original post shows the original black plate off the bass. I think Adam is somewhat attracted to tort guards so he must have changed it at some point but original supplied too...
I don't have the original pickguard for it. The white on black never did anything for me.
6.
Funny the effect of decent photos eh
Oh you!
7. Mayyyyyyte that's a fine looking P. It's the right colour combo!
8. Bump! I finally figured out how to post pics, so here are some more images of this fine instrument for your viewing pleasure. Well… not here. Up at the top like. x
9. Looking for another P actually, and I'm in Manny next week. Leave it with me.
10. Bump I agree Karlfer… More pics coming soon.
11.
Hi Adam, The Fender Am Standard hasn't got a compound radius! it has a straight 9.5" radius.
My bad. Damn fine neck anyhow!
12. My US Standard has a few differences, mainly in the neck and hardware. Hi-mass bridge (string through body or bridge), better tuners, graphite-reinforced neck (helps with stability and dead spots), compound radius (flatter up top for faster playing), finish on the back of the neck is nicer as well (half way between glossy and smooth/satin) which is very comfortable. Mine is a 2011, and they've since added Custom Shop pickups and different finish options. I almost bought a US Special FSR with the honey finish… could'a would'a should'a.
13. Just asking out of curiosity really. I've got a US Standard P and a mid-80s Japanese Jazz. So I guess another Jazz wouldn't make much sense. I think the American Standard P basses are great, and I guess they've only gotten better since I got mine.
14. By the way… What kind of P would you be interested in?
15.
In what way do the SD pickups sound better than the originals? Thanks
I've played one of these before, and I found the pickup lacked the fullness and power you'd expect from a US made Precision. I have had a P with a Quarter Pounder in it and I noticed it was loud and perhaps a little "scooped" sounding, but in a tasteful and useable way. I guess thats why a lot of punk and rock guys use them.
16. Maaaaan that's tasty, and what a price! Hope you get a good P.
