1. Mind you… if you're using a harsh distortion/fuzz and an overdrive/preamp you could use it one of two ways Fuzz first - The preamp/overdrive will make it louder as its boosting the signal after the Fuzz Fuzz second - The overdrive will send more signal to the Fuzz causing more saturation I favour the latter of the two because I don't crank my distortions all the way up. They're more for colouring my clean sound.
2. I'd say more harsh distortions should be secondary. However if you're using something with a clean blend function, and you use another distortion first I guess that could provide some interesting results. eg - ProCo RAT and MXR Bass Overdrive. If you run the RAT before the MXR with the clean control set to half way you'd get half RAT, and half RAT + MXR because its letting some of the pre effect signal through. I bet that'd sound ace!
3. I'd go Grand Orbiter

Compression?
Is it? That's very interesting. There is a Diamond Compressor specifically for bass that loses neither top nor bottom and sounds amazing - it's the, er... Diamond Bass Compressor.
Someone's on the attitude pills today I see.
5. I'd go Compressor, Octave (MXR sounds amazing for synthy 80s stuff), then Chorus/Flanger (again, check out the MXR one)

Compression?

I'm using the Mooer Yellow Comp currently… It's supposed to be like the Diamond Compressor. Only thing is the Diamond Compressor is supposed to work with guitars mainly, so if you use it with bass you'll lose a little low-end. This is why I use the Mooer as a subtle limiter rather than a proper compressor. If you lose a little tiny bit of bass you can always bring it back with your amp's EQ. Give it a go, see what you think.

Decisions...

Yeah its looking more like the MXR tbf… the Darkglass just doesn't seem worth the extra money (seems like there's a lot of hype) I haven't tried the BDDI yet though and I've heard some tasty audio examples. Any thoughts? And guys I really appreciate all your responses. I know theres like a million threads online about the whole Microtubes vs MXR thing. I just value the opinions of people who've actually used them.

Decisions...

So I've recently sold a few pedals and I'm looking to get a nice bass overdrive with a clean blend. I am just stuck on which one to get... I'm thinking either the MXR Bass Overdrive or the Darkglass B3K. I've tried the MXR and really liked it, but a lot of people are raving about the Darkglass stuff. Has anyone tried the two? Are there any differences tone wise? Is the Darkglass worth the extra dosh? Or should I just get a Sansamp?
9. I use the same bass in the same colour but with a Rosewood board. I think it looks so much better with the maple. Great basses, and a steal at this price!
10. Taurus1 - It took me a while as well... Cheers Ratman! Some of the pedals are now on eBay so when they're gone they're gone. I hereby bump this post again!

12. So I'd been looking for a good preamp pedal for a more "tubey" sound from my MarkBass LM3 / Ashdown ABM210 setup and I eventually got the Blackstar HT Boost which works really well. It has a "low gain" output for use with solid state amps, and a "high gain" output for use with tube amps, so obviously I'm using the low gain output. My real question is would this pedal potentially harm my amp if I set the output gain too high? (I have noticed the amp head gets physically warmer when I'm at band practice) I know it might be a really silly question and I don't know if I've even put it in the right category (amps/effects) but I'd really appreciate some more advice because I don't think I'm using the pedal to its full potential, and I'd like to be able to achieve more growly distorted sounds from it as well, without causing damage to my other equipment.
13. I wanna hear the isolated bass tracks for There Is A Dream… I know you can hear the bass loud and clear anyway but I need to hear it alone, or maybe with the drums.
14. So I saw this the other day… I had a look at the specs and they basically say it can only be used with amps that are 100watts or less. I wonder if they'll eventually make one for bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7tLzuW36Cc
