  1. Ahh that was my question - import taxes 😬 Gorgeous colour though- LPB?
  2. Did you order this direct from NYC? I’m ordering one soon and have so many questions if I may?
  3. But a dice has 6 sides... Better give Ken Smith a ring! 😁👍
  4. I’m putting down my deposit for a Satin in a couple weeks with Carl in NYC, so you probably have an idea of how pleased this thread makes me. The joy you describe when you played it first time made me so excited I may have done a little bit of wee. I’m just trying to choose a colour - Candy Apple, Fiesta Red or Burgundy Mist.
  5. Punk is certainly more credible than this complete barrel-scraping trash I saw advertised on TV yesterday.
  6. This is the same girl. I think excellent vocal control but admittedly some of it sounds like someone’s pulled on the cats tail. Worth a watch for the facial expressions alone. Lovely guitar too.
  7. I think I might have meant it was captivating from the bizarre and odd angle. It’s not my thing at all as I’m not one for noodling. It was just so unusual that I thought I’d share it.
  8. I’m not Scotlandish but any excuse to get the Talisker out.
  9. Cheers @BassBunny! I could put in a small metal shim in the split to create a faux solid shaft.
  10. Thanks for that. Yes I have found a number of sources but I do have two concerns. 1. The pots on my P are of the solid shaft variety held in place with a grub screw. I cannot find any push pulls with a solid shaft. 2. Is the control cavity deep enough to accept the depth of the push pull pot. I’d have to get my screwdriver out for that one I guess.
  11. Found one! Useful article and diagram too. https://www.fralinpickups.com/2017/11/08/november-mod-month-2-tone-caps-1-push-pull-pot/
  12. Is there such a thing? I’ve recently replaced the 0.1uf cap in my P bass for a 0.47uf cap. While I do like the sound of the new cap, I also like the sound of the old one. Does a knob exist with both a tone control and a selector? Perhaps a push-pull? I know I could put in a multi-way switch but I don’t want to drill any holes in the scratchplate.
  13. This. The only band I’m in and have been in for 23 years has all of what you describe. We are a 20+ member big band. We rehearse every week and do about 6-8 gigs a year. None of us are paid. It is purely a hobby band, but we are not ‘rubbish’. On more than one occasion I do wonder why some players continue to play with us. All they do is moan and whine about this that AND the other. We rehearse new charts, they moan they can’t play it. I do what most people would do - find a recording or YouTube video, at least to get a vibe of the tune. The other guys? They put their horn back in their little bags not to be touched until next rehearsal. I just don’t get it. You’re in a big band. It’s quite a niche genre nowadays. You must be in this band because you love the music surely? If you can’t be bothered to research a ‘new’ number, that you should really already know, even though you say you are a fan of this music, then just stop. Myself, I live and breath my band. I’m on the comittee, I source new charts, I run the website and Facebook page. I make no money from it. The attitude of some other band members doesn’t anger me. It just disappoints me and makes me sad. The only money I make from bass playing is about £300 from a Christmas panto which pays for my and the wife’s Cotswold weekend. It’s lovely up there.
  14. Trying to find two of my old basses. Not wanting them back but just interested if they are still around. 1. A 1979, maybe 78 nat finish maple neck Fender P bass. The upper horn was signed by Fred Thelonius Baker which was clear-varnished over. 2. A late 90s MIJ Fender Jazz. Defretted. Original Olympic White stripped and badly refinished in some sort of blue flecked textured spray paint by my 17 year old self.
  15. I’m wondering that too. My suspicion is that the tape used for the bass track stretched or was otherwise somehow compromised.
  16. We play this in my band. It’s a real struggle to stay awake. Even worse than the Glenn Miller stuff we also have to trot out at every gig.
  17. Did you not get the memo, 12 is the new 11.
  18. We used to have one of these in our house. A Hammond Regent. Spent many hours on it, unfortunately before I could read music.
  19. Dave Siebels with the astonishing Big Phat Band. The Hammond is the funkiest keys sound ever, along with the Fender Rhodes.
  20. Bit of a silly phrase. An Americanism. I meant maxed out.
