  1. Well done then, going to be a short one with just lots of Well done's ,does everything have to have a point? just commenting about my recent Cort since we're in Fretless land,if its okay ?
  2. Generally we all do the same thing, get insured as cheap as possible,travel/health/pet/home/car etc and hope we don't need it.For 90% of the time the gamble pays off.Like the commuting bit on your policy or the bit where you cant carry pillion on a motorbike etc.Its risk assessment, you could spend a fortune on all the above and cover yourself 100% and not claim and its money down the drain. I've a company car so i'm always "working"
  3. I've had Musicman, Westone, 70s precision ,90s jap jazz and my latest cort b4fl beats them all and cost £275
  4. My car and my back says no to 2 X 410 cabs ! Thanks all the same
  5. Thanks for that ,the quote you gave of mine was specific to one answer .Everyone else has been helpful .I'll just add again my amp is 2ohm ,I run 2 4ohm 2x10 with it Great sound just heavy so looking to get decent lightweight options
  6. Yeah ,I have my two existing cabs sitting upright ,tall and thin .That's another concerns with small cabs ,being low on the floor .
  7. Thanks for reply ,thing is with one cab (4ohm ) my 2ohm amp isn't loud enough ,it is by turning up but clips out a lot etc . I take it that's more about the one speaker than the ohm. It's that thing with amps "350w at 4 ohms ,500w at 2ohms " which gives you the impression it's all about watts
  8. Why are people more interested on picking apart people's words used rather than just provide some input?it's quite clear what I'm asking .
  9. The full volume bit was wrong ,I meant use its full potential and your add a cab comment suggests 2 4ohm cabs is the best option for a 2 ohm head ?
  10. Interesting stuff ,as an owner of a 2ohm Peavey 500 head which I adore I assumed I was limited in my options for "full volume " .I'm looking to ditch my two 25kg 2x10 peavey cabs for lighter options ,will I be okay looking at 2 4ohm cabs? The choice available is far greater ,thanks
  11. Link not working on my pc ? Go pro are surprisingly good at getting everyone in and pick up a half decent sound
  12. Agree,i like to gig with different Basses as each takes a different approach and just keeps it interesting for me.I had a battered 4001,cream and black like early Lemmy, frets were flat and action the highest of my bunch but i loved pulling it out for half a set or whatever.Loved the slim body and neck.To get it mint and properley done would have cost too much for me but i'd def buy another
  13. Was at a Darkness gig back in the day, standing just on the edge of the mad bit, felt a tap on my shoulder, turned round, people there but just looking through me,happened again a few times and i just caught a half chuckle from the side of the mouth of the girlfriend of the lad behind me,so he'd decided to show off to his lass.It happened again and i turned nose to nose and said One more time mate.! i turned back round and this student kid said ,hey mate when the next song starts can you throw me on the top the crowd to surf.It started and i gave him a firemans lift and threw him about 6 feet in the air.I turned round and the comedian behind had gone
  14. Yeah but we're talking comparing one bass to another,as in before you faff on to your hearts content on stuff that a lot of the time is lost by the time the band kick in.I had a 4001 and managed a nice flat bluesy tone no problem
  15. Agree, some are available to all for sessions and some are more unofficial touring members
  16. Had a clear out to pay Dolly Parton, building them back up now, fancy a Rick next.Better than money in the bank
  17. Never played a Spector but been casually looking,by accounts they are quite chunky, neck wise.I owned a 1980 4001 and the neck was slim almost parallel as you went up to the body. This puts the Spector in the gang with Wal,Ibanez musicians etc as great basses if you like the big necks.Loved my Rick and i fancy a new one,my old one needed about a grand spending on it by a trusted guy to get it playing as well as it looked.I'm a believer in tone coming from your hands .
  18. If that helps you get over his enormous good fortune i'll go with that sir
  19. Played Octaves on Gloria iirc Good thing with not being flash is playing loads of different bass's live and not being too anal about it
  20. Jokes,my grandads dying wish was to be pushed in front of a steam train. When it happened he was chuffed to bits
  21. The Stranglers, Music, looks, attitude, stubborn, creative,Bass sound of course.Just had a massive impact on 15 year old me.Bought a Kay bass and taught myself to play
  22. My Rickenbacker 4001 appeared on Emmerdale
  23. i have a Radial Bassbone, its a high quality twin channel amp and Di in a floor box with lots of useable features, which you can use without anything else. There's no typical answer here, some pub bands are reasonably quiet and get by with a good live backline mix and a bit help from a pa,vocals and a bit drum perhaps. Our set up is full range PA Which everything runs through including drums ,cymbals etc then being a rock band we have the usual heavy helping of backline which really for me is a glorified monitor but some gigs i have no real out front monitoring to help me
