1. Simply The Best - It is NOT Alright Now. Again it is NOT Doncha Wanna Ride- Joss Stone. I DO NOT
2. I am loving this thread. Got to say the talent in these 3 pages has put me to shame but Im in all the same. I play bass with Groove Connection, a 5 sometimes 6 piece Soul/Funk/Motown covers band based in and around the Bracknell/Basingstoke/Reading/Guildford area. We gig the pubs and clubs around the M4 corridor. Ive been with them for nearly a year now. Our Myspace is not too accomplished at the minute and our demos are protools not studio, but we can put a groove out ,have a blast and we always get re booked. 3. Im a bit late to this party tho I did see the original "bad news thread". I am absolutely amazed at the outcome. Big props to the mods for fielding this. Thats real dedication in action. Also congratulations to all that donated or were about to. That selfless trusting approach is precious and should never be discouraged. This would be a better place if there were more people like you around. Nuff Said
4. There are a few, some free but you tend to get what you pay for. I have Fretboard Lite (free) good for scales and chords in different tunings, Guitar Toolkit which is cool but costs (its a tuner, metronome,Chords and scales with audio and covers a multitude of instruments inc Banjo and Ukelele. Another couple you might like to look at are Four Track (Recording desk. Pretty cool app) and Heartbreaker drum machine (not got to grips with that yet). Enjoy
5. I think I sit in the "all my basses do different things" camp. What I mean is I have a passive 4, an active 4, a fretless 5, an acoustic a short scale semi acoustic 4 with flats and an EDB. I love owning them all but I wouldnt double up eg 2 Rics would be pointless for me. The only thing I think Im missing is an acoustic upright. That would make a full house in my opinion. Although weirdly I think I could be tempted by a double buck in the future
6. And that my friend is what all the fuss is about. Great isnt it. Sounds like youve got a ready made band to jump intoas well. RESULT Very well done. Look forward now to new opportunities and dont look back.
7. Aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnddddddddddddd?
8. Dont back out. The vast majority of blokes in the room will want to do what you are doing when youre up there, but cant. You will have already conquered the nerves in varying degrees by 1. Turning up. (Easy cos you dont have a choice) 2. Bringing your gear (because youre showing everyone that you WILL play) 3. Getting up on stage in front of your friends (Look at them before you start. You will see nothing but support for you) The nerves will disappear and you will love every minute of it. Dont focus on perfection. Focus on the enjoyment you are giving to everyone watching. Im envious. I wish I could bottle that first night feeling. There is nothing like it and youll remember it for ever. Enjoy every second.
9. Answers in the question. New Band Project = Dial Emma
10. Thanks buddy. Im in touch with Fender UK now so it looks like Ill be travelling down the same route. Ill keep my fingers crossed. Cheers for the info. Don
11. Ive got a very similar problem with my 210T. I only recently noticed it when I used it for a practice instead of my combo. Its not too in your face but I get a fizzy distortion to the note anywhere below D on the A string which dies out before the note does. Only from the top speaker. Ive emailed Genz and the stories are true, Jeff Genzler emailed me straight back. We are trying to troubleshoot it at present but it might mean a replacement speaker. Trouble is they are saying that because I bought it in the states, that my warranty is in question. Dont really understand that but will investigate that further. Im emailing them again tonight and hopefully they may have an answer. Ill post as soon as I know what the deal is.
12. All sorted. Got me a Morley A/B for £15 http://www.morleypedals.com/daby.jpg so Im just going to put both basses into that with the output to Ch1 Bassbone and plug the Stagg into Ch 2. All I have to do now is learn to tapdance and Ill be sweet.
13. Good advice mate. I was going out of the wall into a 4 gang then out of that to a 6 gang with Rcd. It sounds like I need to revisit that set up. Cheers
14. Some good. adice/ideas guys. Cos I still want the functions of the bassbone I think I'll try the bigshot into it. Might have to lose a pedal to fit it on tho. Thanx again. I'll let you know how it goes
15. HI all. A quick question for you. Up until now, I have used a tone bone Bassbone to input my bass and Eub. With the new band I use 2 basses and the upright. Whats the best solution. One option is to use another true bypass AB box into channel 1 of the bassbone with the 2 basses, and plug the EUB straight into channel 2. Is this overkill or is there a simpler solution. (Ill save you "just use one bass") Any other ideas. And if its an AB box any recommendations? I was looking at the Radial Big Shot as it would be nice to be able to adjust the input volumes, but I dont need a tuner out or a mute switch Cheers Don
16.
I had a similar issue (volume drops) when I added a DHA to my chain. I contacted Dave and he suggested a wire may be grounding. I dismantled, electrical-taped the offending wire and had to problem since!! Dan
Thanks mate. Thats interesting. I will check that out. Cheers
17. It wont take long for a new project to appear Michael and for whats its worth, it sounds like youve made the right move. Good Luck
18. Just a little postscript for those interested. Played a gig lst night with the same setup and experienced not a hint of a problem. Stumped but happy at the same time. Must have been the venue. Cheers Don Oh its pushed me into getting a backup head tho so I have a little visit planned to Carvin in LA next week to look at their BX500. With gig bag it comes to under £300 so I might be tempted. I like new toys.
19. Time to leave mate. They are taking advantage of your commitment. It sounds like although the songs are great, youre not having fun playing them.. No Fun= No Point. Hope it works out for you.
20.
I had a similar(ish) problem and it turned out to be a cracked solder joint. Jack socket to PCB in my effects unit. It was one of those anoying intermittent faults, and I spent ages chasing it. Good luck!
Thanks mate. Hope its not that
21.
Does it have thermal cut-out protection? Maybe that fired in after being played at full stretch for a whole set? Was it loud, was the amp very hot? If you ran it for 2 hrs without a load on it then the thermal cut-out would not necessarily activate.
Thanks Al. Thats something to think about. I need to find out if the shuttle has a cut out. I wasnt excessively loud but the amp had been on for about a couple of hours and played for an hour of that. Didnt seem massively warm, but I was in a bit of a flap by that stage. Ill check it out. Cheers
22. Well Ive checked out all the leads, jacks and power supplies and it all works fine. Even ran it for 2 hours to see if anything was overheating. Everything works fine. Thanks for the input guys. guess Ill just have to hope it was a one off. That and get a back up head just in case. cheers Don
