My first Palatino on arrival...
OOOOOOOOOOH. Not feeling quite as hard done to now. That would have sent mummy maxcats number 1 son into atizz
  2.
right Looks more like a fishing rod in its bag
absolute disaster.Stagg turned up at 1030. Feverish unpacking followed by loads of wows. Then reality dawns. Its only got a chip out of the laminate just below the fingerboard that can be seen clear across the room. After major examination there are numerous dinks and dents in the neck, by the neck bolts and in the string housing. However there was also an inch crack in the laminate leading from the neck join to one of the neck bolts. Caramba. Nicola at Zings was v helpful and investigated at their end. Upshot is that they are adamant that it was pristine when it left the warehouse. Unlikely as the courier would have had to open the box. unwrap the foam, open the gig bag (well nice BTW) and use the bass as a caber for a bit. Disappointed of Berkshire now as I have to send it back on Monday with no prediction of stock availability. Had a play with it obv and really enjoyed it tho. How do you get the body rest in to the holes. Completely failed that one. Oh well Patience grasshopper.
Hello. I'm called Denim. Well, that's my nickname, I'm actually Prasan. Hello ^_^; So erm... I've wanted to play bass for a very long time, but I've never had the money to afford one, let alone the gear to go with it. My cashflow may see a decent increase in the coming months and the image of my slightly overweight form jamming hard on a big bass guitar with swooning groupies throwing themselves at my feet is suddenly a possibility! Seriously though, I adore bass guitars, I love the feel of them, the sound, the power they wield. As instruments go I've never been a big guitar fan. It's always been a bass that I'm playing in my head I look forward to seeking the advice of the mystic gurus that govern this forum, buying my first bass and learning to play it poorly ^__________^ So erm... Rock on, Uzbekistan!
Yes its the truth You will be a rock god. Do yourself a favour and purchase the T shirt you see before you to clothe the baying crowd that will worship at your feet. Alternatively let the 6 string fragile ego do that and revel at being the foundation of a rythym section. Plus get a Rickenbacker. It is the only way. But I might be biased. Welcome from a fellow site newbie
  5. Hysteria - Muse Still cant do it. Bastardo!!!!
  6.
Hi all, am a competent (but no more) bass player who plays in a punk/psychobilly band called Kismetik (http://www.myspace.com/kismetikmw). We started early this year and have played 3 gigs in London area (eg Hope & Anchor) and have three lined up in next month. Used to be in death metal band Nyx. Like all those over their 30s I have a Spinal Tap-sized collection of basses, including a Gibson SG bass, 1980 Rock 4001 FG, 1976 Rick 3000 FG, and a couple of Fender Japanese P's (one for sale on Forum)! Basically I like all loud guitar-based music be it Led Zep, Metallica, Pistols or Stone Roses or Joy Division. Not picky as long as its, yes you guessed it, loud and guitar-based! Happy with my bass collection (albeit it needs slimming down - I also have an ESP Ltd Tom Araya bass that I would consider selling with Sims LEDs) but would like a lightweight head for practices (Markbass F1?). My rig for gigs is Tech 21 Landmark 300 head plus Markbass 106HR cab. I also have an Aguilar GS112NT which I would like to pair with lightweight head for practice/smaller gigs. Nice talking to you! Clarky
Hi Clarky from a fellow Ricky. This is a cool site. I joined a few weeks back and already have gained massive amounts. Great chat, really informed opinions and I got the gig with a great band called Six Miles Away. Hope your experience here is as good as mine. Enjoy mate
  7. One of the other reasons I went Violin burst is that in mettalic black it bears an uncanny resembleance to the 50 calibre sniper rifle in call of duty 4. Might raise a few eyebrows in some of the less than salubrious areas I have been known to frequent
  8.
Yeah I heard there's been a rush on metalic black from all the death metal jazz folk band players looking to add a certain something to their sound ....
9. OK Ive bitten the bullet and my Metallic Black Stagg has miraculously become a Violin Burst and will arrive tomorrow. Huzzah
  10. Oooops. Just sent an e mail and phone message to zings then and only then read the Stagg thread to discover OGs is piano black. Not metallic like mine. Embarrassing email retraction facility in full swing as we speak. All good things come to he who waits as my Aunt Cathy used to say. Mind you she was sectioned at the time.
  11. Just looked back at the original post. Is your black the same as metallic black. If so then its the same from Zings. A phonecall required methinks. On the plus side if you hate it let me know and I can cancel. Tho at that price its worth a shot anyway. Let us know how she plays.
  12. Happy for you OG, gutted for me. Ordered the same one on 20th Mar and have since been informed that it will now be mid April before delivery. Ah well the sun shines on the righteous. Enjoy.
  13.
Nothing wrong with spreading the live Mewsie. Thanx for the welcome guys.
Biff. That was spread the LOVE. Soz
  14.
i'm wondering how wrong it would be for me to get a t-shirt like that for myself! although i do know a lot of other bass players so i might get away with it hello and welcome, maxcat! x
Nothing wrong with spreading the live Mewsie. Thanx for the welcome guys.
  15.
Hi-nice to have you on board! I've only been a member for a few days myself (site recommended by iamthewalrus, another Reading member), and already I'm discovering all sorts of things. I'm based just outside Reading, by the way, and my band plays quite often in the area. Get yourself in a band-when I did, I realised it was the best favour I could have done myself! Like everyone else, I love the top in your photo! My wife is already asking where she can get one!
Cheers guy.Looks like I might have to go into the T shirt business. Looking for a band right now as a matter of fact. Little blues/modern guitar/classic rock/soul number thats gigging but not taking life too seriously. Need to get back into it like I need that second mojito. Thats a lot . Whats your band name and where can I catch them? Thanks for the welcome by the way. Right back atcha.

    Hey There

Hi mate. Just joined yesterday. Its a cool site.Lots of good gear and tips. Welcome from a fellow newbie.
  17. My spaced them last night. Sound like a real fun bunch of guys.
  18.
Welcome. I've got to get the missus a top like the one in your avatar. I have a feeling she'd be the only one prepared to wear one at our gigs, and even that would hard to persuade... She'd probably scribble it out and put "singer". Good looking b*st*rd!
Yeah but think of the fragile ego she would have to deal with. Chicks know
  19. +1 on not selling your first bass. Mine was a crackly Jazz copy that in 82, wife number 1 swung at my head (Sturdy Bird) and shattered the neck against the banister when I ducked. Cant complain tho, she was guilty enough to buy me an 81 Ric to replace it which immediately became my first bass and is still with me today. I dont upset wife number two as you can imagine. Although I could get a Bongo out of it come to think. Faint heart and all that.
  20. Thanx for the welcome. Nice hat by the way
  21. One of my better decisions then. Might just offset the three bad ideas I have each and every day. Thanks bud
  22. Hi Folks. Stumbled across your site looking for EUB reviews. Ive been playing bass in a variety of bands since my dad bought me a 6 string acoustic for my 13th birthday which I immediately took the top 2 strings off and found exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately Im now 45 so I guess I should be a lot better than I am. Love all sorts of music with a special place in my heart for Blues rock, soul and classic rock. Lapsed from playing live for about 6 years, but it is now time to bet back into it. Based in Reading Berks via Ayrshire Scotland. Looking forward to spending some time in the site picking your brains and feeling like a muso again. Once again Hi.
