  1. It really is tiny Matt. The grille was a bit of a cheat. It comes from the original Ashdown combo. So the Ashdown is currently grille less. I have used a company on eBay before for my grilles. I will look them up and see what they can do. I had a play with it and the Bugera amp last night. Apart from the volume, obviously I can’t use gigging, I had to add a bit of bass but as I usually cut the bass slightly, it was still only at 12 o’clock.
  2. You know that bassline you thought that you would never get right, but you kept plugging away? That is the principle I am adopting. Of course what I say is true (no really) so no debate.
  3. Most class D amps use a type of modulation called Pulse Width Modulation. It is more a radio modulation technique, think of AM, FM, PWM. It is not strictly analogue and it is not digital. It could use a digital control circuit but the amplification is not digital. At the time Class D was developed, we already had Classes A, B and C. Hence it was called Class D. Back on topic please.
  4. It is in the garage now and I can happily take some pictures.
  5. I have not read the whole thread but will make 2 comments: Thomann supply to the UK duty paid. They are registered for VAT with HMRC and collect any VAT/Duty, paying HMRC directly. So there should be no Customs and Excise checks/charges/delays. DHL are the worst for importing from the EU. No tracking to speak of and no customer service.
  6. However, as I have never bought from them, I cannot comment on their service,
  7. I cannot attest to BD’s service and despite the honesty of all BCers, the comments on here cannot properly be calibrated. You have to make your own mind up. My beef with them was a criticism of a manufacturer that they did not sell, that seemed spiteful. One of the things I learnt in my working life was never to criticise your competitors. If you do, you may allienate all their happy customers.
  8. I pulled the 8” out the other night and plugged in my main amp the other day. I was once again astonished at its performance. @Phil Starr and I broke just about all the rules making it as it was designed to sit underneath the Ashdown After Eight as an extension cab. We were building to a size rather than designing the best cabinet for the driver, my fault not Phil’s. I should explain that the After Eight has been gutted and rebuilt as a 100 watt combo using a new 8”, 8 ohm speaker with an extension cab capability down to 4 ohms. What the cab did show is that, with limitations, a small format cab could work well for both electric and double bass. It would be interesting to see a well designed small format cab from @stevie at LFSys.
  9. Since I have had my @steviedesigned cabs, the one thing I never hear is “I can’t hear the bass” from my bandmates. We had a gig on Sunday in a courtyard where there are several odd walls and the acoustics are not good. We all had difficulty hearing the drums and the guitars on either side of the stage, but everyone could hear that bass. I have been asked to turn UP at several gigs as amount of sound reaching my ears is so much more than other cabs. The downside? All the band can now clearly hear my c*ck ups.
  10. Is this a Bass Bash or pescatarian society gathering? I am trying to decide whether to bring a bass or a bream!
  11. I have real trouble with silicon tips and have fount the comply’s to be the best fit once you get the right size. However they do tear easily and are expensive because of that.
  12. I think a certain Essex company copied that design for their amps. 😜. I seem to remember GK cooying the Bugeras too.
  13. Unusual to hear a (sea) bass fitted with Fishman electronics in those days. Surely it was too early for a Stingray?
  14. I have had enough of this, I am going to tend to my dolphiniums.
  15. I have always wondered about those. I fit TRS jacks to my basses, even the passive ones. The redundant sleeve contact helps hold the plug straight, making a better contact. However I might just try one of these.
  16. These are soldered to a PCB if it's like my M2.
  17. That was why I bought one.
  18. If you have the settings you usually use saves as a show or a snapshot, try loading the INIT setting. As far as I know, it resets everything to default, returning everything to the out-of-the-box setting.
  19. It would be good to see you again, David.
  20. Try Multicare in Leeds. The repair all sorts including MI products.
  21. I use a K&M https://www.k-m.de/en/products/stands-and-accessories-for-instruments/fretted-instruments/17570-e-a-guitar-stand-duet-black-with-translucent-support-elements it is really solid and has been used for several years. Still as good as new.
  22. My Aeordyne and Peavey P Copy are both very happy in mine.
  23. What is that in real money?
