1. You can't just connect the send and return direct to a 'naked' reverb tank, but no reason why you can'y use an outboard spring reverb unit. The only problem will be finding one!
2.
How about a hunting horn! http://www.thomann.d..._pless_horn.htm
Wouldn't it be great to pull it out at gigs and give the audience the horn. Oh wait...
3. There was one listed on Gumtree for £40. I'm guessing it's a 50W 1980s model that will have been sold under various brand names, so that price would be about right.
4. Nathan, just thought you should know that Parcelforce only cover musical instruments up to £100, although they will merrily take your money for extra cover! If you end up having to send the bass, I recommend going on Interparcel.com and choosing one of the UPS services.
5. +1, love mine
6. Rhythm. You can play really low and fudge the pitch, but if you haven't nailed the rhythm, you ain't doing your job!
7. A 'no' from me, but it would suit an 80s electro tribute band.
8.
EBS dynaverb, Boss SYB-5
Both nice pedals but neither on my wish list. Thanks for asking though! Anyone else with pedal trades?
9.
Any interest in any trades for this?
Maybe - watcha got?
10.
...if I need more bottom end I'll just have to add a 1 x 15.
There will be someone along in a minute to disabuse you of this notion
11. Coin-operated PP3 battery dispenser for the guitarist's use.
12. Surely that's just an oscillator fed into a delay unit. An oscillator circuit is an easy project build, even if you don't use a VHS case for the housing! The NE555 has been around for years (Maplin flog them for 99p) and there are loads of simple application circuits to be found online.
13. Most people will be familiar with what this pedal can do - digital models of 9 types of delay, a 40-second looper, and the TonePrint setting that allows in-depth customisation of the delay model's parameters via free TonePrint software and a USB connection. For the full lowdown, visit the TC Flashback page. Tiny mark on front panel, otherwise tip top condition. Comes complete with box, manual, and USB cable. Runs from standard Boss 9V adaptor (recommended but not included) or PP3 battery (not recommended unless you have shares in Duracell). Reason for sale: I always end up modelling the sound of my MXR Carbon Copy, which kind of makes this pedal superfluous for me! £85 delivered within the UK.
14. Ventilation. Or put your double post in the gap
15.
There is an often told story about a Family man bass lesson. Can`t remember who it was but they turned up all excited at Astons door, ready to soak up all the knowledge that the great man would share. They knocked the door, Aston opened the door and said "Nothing above the 5th fret!" and closed the door. A true story allegedly
I wonder how he managed to play 'I Shot the Sheriff' then - that goes up to the Eb at the 8th fret on the G string!
16. Dunlop 1.14mm in purple.
17.
Then they get in an ensemble situation and wonder why they are not audible and keep upping the level to get heard. I don't think bassists do so much of that.
No, not much! Surely the topic of a thousand Basschat threads...
18. If there is music playing while I am falling asleep, I can 'see' the pitches of the instruments a bit like that.
19. God I love the look of these basses, except for the stripes in the headstock - it's just begging for a matching white face!
20.
Wait til you play guitar in a band. Then all that same sh*t you go through with bass will happen. You'll notice one string doesn't cut through and you'll be dicking about for ages trying to solve that problem. You'll notice your gorgeous cleans don't have the right mids to cut through the band and crap like that.
This. Plus you 'need' more guitars for different types of gig. I have ended up spending on average £1800 per guitar (and about the same for my gigging amp, and not far off that for my pedalboard) to be in a position where I am confident of sounding great on any gig. The cost of achieving the same goal on bass has actually been much less per item.
21.
I have found myself playing with some very talented musicians the past few days. It has given me a crisis of confidence, but the work I have put in since Saturday has been more than I have in the last 3 or 4 months if I'm honest. I had become complacent and meeting really talented new people has stuck a rocket up my backside to up my game. Improving is entirely within our own control.
There's nothing like playing with people from a higher league when it comes to improving.
22. Can you fit a Streamliner head inside it? Dimensions: 3 ¼” H x 10”W x 11 7/8”D EDIT: Just checked your link, and internal dimensions are 13" x 7" x 3.5", so no. Bugger!
