1. Don't forget that guitar watts come out louder than bass watts...
2. This is an incredible bargain compared to what dealers are now asking!
3.
Bandmix and joinmyband are the two I've used. With mixed results, it has to be said :-)
This. Put what you will in your ads (and I have), but you will still get some patently unsuitable applicants (and I have)!
4. Phase 90 SOLD. Voodoo Vibe now only £140 delivered in UK.
5.
I like the "tell it like it is" feel to this advert, wish more were this honest and up front, like this. being honest and not moving the goalposts later. I can tick all the boxes on this (and have two real Cowboy hats!! Fubar! Lol!) but Bugger I live in Rochdale.
I'm told it's hard being a cowboy in Rochdale....
6. I have recently bought a Cali76 for use on guitar, and I have it switched on the whole time. It's brilliant. I have yet to use it when recording bass, but I definitely will, as big peaks on bass notes otherwise mess up my attempts to get a good signal down. I have no desire to use it live though.
7. Not last night but the night before... At 8 hours' notice, played with Shaun Buswell on the first night of his latest Orchestra Challenge tour. He books a string of venues, prints out sheet music of 17 songs for 20 orchestral instruments, tries to recruit random players during the daytime, and everyone pitches up and plays form the dots in the evening. As it happened, there were no orchestral instruments, just Shaun on guitar and vocals, a chap called Chris on keyboards, and me on bass (playing from the DB score). The audience (who mainly don't know the songs) call out numbers (e.g. '3') and the band play the corresponding songs. It was the complete opposite of the more usual scenario where you practice and rehearse with a view to getting it right; instead, it all just happens, and it was mainly pretty good. I very much enjoyed it, and didn't even mind the very drunk man treating us to 'interpretive dance' at the front. He enjoyed it too btw.
8. Just watched this again. Excellent track, redolent of Avalon-era Roxy, and great playing by all involved. Just remembered I still have The High Road on VHS!
9. Phase 90 on hold for Alfie Noakes
10.
Any comparison between the G&L and the Sandberg? Very similar looking.
None whatsoever, very different beasts.
11. Probably normal. At home practice levels I can hear the hiss from the Glockenklang pre in my Sandberg, even though I generally have the treble control backed off a bit. Mind you that's only when I stop playing and actively listen out for it. No tweeter in my cab btw.
12.
I wouldn't trust anything apart from my top-hanger Hercules. Having a thunderbird might also have something to do with it. I strap all of the long stuff (guitar stand, mic stand, etc.) together for easy carriage
This.
13. Red light fever. I have experienced this even when recording stuff on my own, with no one else even in the house, let alone the room!
14.
Defunkt go all Halloween
Wow! How did you get Prince to stand in on guitar for you?
15.
I don't understand how so many people use TC when they've lied about the power output of their amps?!
No more than Genz Benz did. Look around the back of a Streamliner 900 and you will see above the mains inlet the words 'MAXIMUM AVERAGE POWER CONSUMPTION 650 WATTS'. It's all to do with how they handle the peaks...
16. You would probably get even more off if you pointed out that the speakers are the wrong way round. You need the 15 on the bottom and the 10s on the top for the, err, top. Apparently.
17.
Yes

yes yes .....yes
I concur.
18. Any pics to compare?
19. There is no justification. That is all.
20. Streamliner 900 Why I love it: loud, light, punchy, clear, valvey, lovely DI sound, great headphone sound... did I say loud? What sets it apart: well there are are other amps that can give you lots of the above so I'm not convinced GBs are that unique. Downside: flat is not flat, you need to knock the bass control back unless you really want a lot of bass.
21. Although I only came here because I thought the thread title said 'composting', I have to say those pieces sound utterly lifelike and involving. Carles has paid attention to the details of timbre and dynamics. So many online MIDI files are recorded with crude dynamics, or none at all.
