5.
Traded an amp with Marc a few months ago. Very friendly communication and a pleasure to deal with him. I also highly appreciate that he took the risk to trade with me, being a total newbie here (and even being from Germany ). Thanks Marc! Oh, and sorry for the big delay... Janis
No problem my friend. Take care. Marc
6. The above pictures are from the original sale... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=94282&hl=otter Hope the previous owners don't mind me using their old threads. Comes in a hard case and has an anti feed back sound hole blocker type thingy as well.!!!
7. Wow what a great 4 string...... someone on here MUST buy it.
8. HI Guys, I picked up this amazing Brook 5 string Acoustic in a trade a few months back and have been using it every since as my main gigging bass. I need to raise some cash because I am gassing for another bass I have found on the good old web. It has Chrome flats installed and I have personaly carved a new bridge out of bone to get the action correct for all strings. These cost somewhere around £2500 to build and cost me around £1500 in a trade. I am looking for a quick sale of £900 only while the other bass is still available. Can post out in a hard case but would rather meet up half way. http://www.brookguitars.com/ Also do a search on here for the complete listing history. Thanks. Please Pm if you are intested.
9. Hi there, Can you give us a few clues as to what bass and style of music you play and what cab you use.
10. Welcome to the forum from a fellow Berkshire person.
11. I have used this guy to service my vox valve amp..... Www.stevesamps.co.uk
12.
Correct. It resembles a rear-loaded folded horn, but it's at best half the required size to function as one. Even a 50 Hz horn is no less than six feet long. Many cabs of this sort were produced in the 60s and 70s by companies who had no trained acoustical engineers on staff. They scaled down real folded horns, like the Jensen Imperial and JBL Keele bins, not realizing that you can't do that with a successful result, and what you end up with is a bass reflex cab with a flared duct. The result was no better than any other bass reflex cab. But as well engineered bass reflex cabs didn't come along until roughly 1975 they did hold their own until then. Interestingly these faux horns were produced by some very well known companies, including Sunn and Music Man, and no, they did not have trained acoustical engineers on staff. Sunn advertised the 200S as a rear loaded folded horn, and it was anything but. Designer Conrad Sundholm admitted that he called it a rear loaded folded horn after seeing the term used, though he had no idea what a rear loaded folded horn actually looked like or how they worked.
Thanks for the info...........
13. Have a bump on me for a fantastic bass...... I owned this for a while and found it to have a wonderful slap sound.
14.
That's a ported cab - funny shaped port but nevertheless it is. Use a sine wave generator to find the tuning frequency, calculate the internal volume, then you know where to go with drivers. It'll need a lot of bracing to handle high power drivers, it needs lining with damping throughout and it's not going to be terribly robust because of the chipboard...
I lined my Vox with acoustic foam and measured the vent to get the correct dimensions for the port and calculated the internal volume. Next down load a program from the web to calculate which driver to use. I then went to Celestion, Fane, Eminence websites and got info on 15" drivers and put the specs into the speaker program. I selected the best driver for a flat (ish) frequency responce. Of coarse you can select any drive unit to suit your sound.... from flat to warm over blown bass. Give it a go its free and could get you a great sound.
15. Who is going to be brave and place a bid...
16.
Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but isn't that a normal ported cab - i.e. direct radiator rather than a horn, but just with a tapered port?
I dont think it is a true horn design. Its more of a large vented port the exits the back of the drive unit and vents into a large area at the base of the cab. This kind of cab was very popular in the 1980's....I am sure someone could explain the design and why it went out of fashion.
17. wow, that looks and measures very close to my 1980's Vox VR115 bass cab. (stock picture) I put a Deltalite driver in mine after I using a speaker design program to match all current 15" drivers to the dimensions of the cab.
18. I use a 125 watt Vox V125b valve amp and its very loud, clean and will compete with a drummer with no problems. Wattage is a strange thing, Valve watts SEEM louder than solid state and you need four times the wattage to go twice as loud. For example.... if you take my 125 watt head and want something twice as loud you will need 500 watts. Best thing to do is get a very sensitive cab, something around 100db and run it with lowish power.
19. What kind of valve amp are you looking for ?
20.
yes iv owned it since the day it was released and t is awesome. If you like the Hydrive sound its the best cab ever
Is it tight and punchy with the typical 12" warm mids.?????
21. I'm looking for a couple of cabs to go with the excellent SWR headlite and was wodering if any of you guys and girls tried the new HARTKE HX112 HYDRIVE cabs. In the past I have used Hartke and found them to be very good and I really like the " sound " of 12 inch drivers. Other ideas are the SWR 8x8 or a couple of thier new Golite 15's. Thanks in advance.
22. Just cleared down some of my attachments.....should free a little space.
23. This really is a great Booster / overdrive. I can recommend it very highly. Buy with confidence.
24. I have a Tonefactor Pulp Mill for sale. It is based on the old Orange squeezers from the 1970's. It can go from funky hard compression to subtle levelling of your bass signal. I really love this compressor but no longer use it because my valve amps compressor naturally. Most compressors seem to take away some of the lower frequencies. This Pulp Mill has been modified to stop this and re wired with silver cable and a new orange LED. Check it out in the effects for sale section.
