  1. Sorry to hear it Lozz. I always enjoy your posts too! Hopefully after a bit of r&r you’ll want to jump back in with a less busy band
  2. Looks like you guys had a great time- how did the recordings come out?
  3. Thanks I’ll give them a try
  4. Would anyone know where I can order a replacement bass tone decal for a 4001? It came off many years ago and it got put somewhere safe, so safe I can’t find it!
  5. You made a great job repairing it - how does it play/sound?

  7. My band has suffered from this too. When you’re 18 the dafter or more pompous the better. Now we’re all in our forties everything sounds terrible or embarrassing.
  8. I've had a hiscox case for my 4001 for a long time. It was the only one I could find big enough
  9. Wow that looks the cats pyjamas! Good work

  12. Just bought a fender road worn p bass neck from Paddy. Great emails, completely honest and a pleasure to do business with. He's also a really super fella! Thanks mate Mark
  13. i read the original thread and thought you were crazy. Happy to say that i was completely wrong and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Well done for having the guts to do it and well done Bassdoc for making a superb job of it!
  14. Steady as she goes. the raconteurs is a great one, has some interesting timing as well!
  15. I actually kind of like it. Went for a bargain to! "no volume or tone control, its just on' , Classic!
  16. Keep going mate. Its worth the wait. I bought my rick 4001 back in 1995 with my last student loan. I went to London with £600 in my pocket, Iseemed to think that was what is was gonna cost me! Went into all the shops on denmark street, of the 2 ricks I found they were both new and more like a grand. down hearted I went into the last shop, cant remember the name now. The small dark shop at the end on the left with a few floors chocablock full of second hand kit. They had a red one hanging up. I look at the tag-£900, oh well I thought I travelled all the way up here, I'll give it a go. Tried it out and fell in love (i'd originally wanted a black one). Would you take £600 quid for it i said. and they said yes. I couldn't believe it. Best money I ever spent! When eventually got round to checking it out, it turned out to be from 1980. After nearly 20 years of owning and playing her, I joined this forum, and found out a lot of great info. I changed the action and put some flats on, sounds amazing now. I've fallen back in love. I'm sure you will too. Take the advice above, dont get too hung up on colour etc, try a few and buy the one that plays best
