As a devoted forum lurker for a couple of years now, I, like others, feel as if I have got to know Si through his brilliant posts, kindness and humour. A true gent, and a great advocate of Bassplayers in Hats. A huge shock. He'll be greatly missed. RIP
2. He does a roaring trade in Fruit Corners
3. The bass is now with Steve the Amp Guy (www.ampguy.co.uk) so should be back to lovely electrical marvels once again fairly soon!
4. Someone on here owns/owned the punk bass.
5. I hope I'm not the only one that got bored of the sound of far too many bass notes crammed into every bar. It just lost all musicality (after Flea as a matter of fact!) and turned into a "look what I can do"-fest. Sorry, I'd much rather listen to an isolated Jamerson bass track than this any day. I didn't get past Billy Sheehan.
6.
Hi. As I said in the T-40 section, I have the electrics of one of my Toasters off the bass at the mo' Can you get some clear shots of the wiring and post them. If the issuue is simple, I could either put you right or you could send the complete plate for me to have a look. The only soldering for you to do would be back to the jack socket. Would love to help - not nice being T-40less.
Hi Eric, I'll try to get some clear shots tonight if I can. The earth from the jack goes straight to the bridge, so that earth isn't included in the rest of the circuit's eart, so i think that is problem 1. I'm pretty certain the phase switch isn't right, as there are two wires from the neck pickup going to each terminal on one end instead of one at each end. And, I think he's tried to wire it so that the two pots closer to the pickup selector are the volumes and the two closer to the jack are the tones, which is not how it was before! Thanks
7. OK, I've got the beast in bits and it's becoming apparent that although my guitarist did his best, he's made a complete arse of it. How can i get this fixed? I really don't have the skills required. Is this something a luthier could sort and how much would this sort of thing cost? EDIT: Also just discovered that one of the pots is broken. One of the lugs have been broken off. Grrr.
8. A trend that finished 15 years ago?
9.
Bad News! If your guy has followed everything that he can see - I have a wiring diagram which is somewhere on this PC - still trying to find it!! That may help him. I do have the back off one of my Blade T-40's - giving the bass a full service, pot clean etc. I could take some good clear shots of that, if you think it would help. Let me know. A T-40 lover without his T-40 is a sad thing! Cheers.
If only my T40 had a back cover! In order to do any wiring I have to take the strings off and the scratchplate off as well as the pickups. My pickup surrounds, as Brian Blessed would say, are TOAST!
10. Original thread is here on the second page of Gear Porn!
11. OH MY!!!! I normally hate "coffee table" fancy wood basses, but that is beautiful. I want one.
12. Calling all wiring experts! I've posted this in the T40 thread but thought it would get more attention here... My T40 has a fairly major electrical issue. I got two new (correct) switches, and tried to wire them in myself, and failed awfully, so took it to my band's guitarist who has some soldering skills! He soldered them in but it was just not right. Turns out the wiring had already been redone from the original, so the decision was made to replace it all with new wiring (the existing wiring was in a right state). So, the guitarist got a copy of wiring diagram from the internet (i think it's the only one available on the net), and wired it from scratch. However! Now, the bridge pickup is the only one that works, and only when the pickup selector is in the bottom position, the phase switch does nothing and neither does the tone pots and the whole thing buzzes horribly until the pickguard is installed into the bass. Guitarist has looked at it and loked at it again, tried to insulate the wiring from the shielding and everything, but to no avail. So, what can I do? i have next to no wiring skills so i guess i need to send it to someone, but have no idea. Please help! I miss my awesome T40 sound!!!
13. Any chance you could tell us which venue it was?
14. Two pretty fantastic gigs this weekend. We played The Larling Beer Festival on Friday, in front of more than 1200 people. The most people we've ever played in front of. It was fantastic! Until I blew the speaker in my combo... (during Won't Get Fooled Again for god sake!!!) So had to play the last 6 or 7 songs without being able to hear myself at all (was still coming out of the PA). We were on a lorry trailer, and during the last song (Sweet Child of Mine) I stood at the very edge of the stage and surveyed the audience, then felt two girls stroking my foot! Very odd!!! There were also some SERIOUSLY drunk nutters there, dancing as though they were having a fit. One looked like Lou from Neighbours!
15. And Louie Louie!
16.
The Plight – Ball and Chain The Plight are a hardcore punk band from Leeds, this track appears on their ‘Black Summer’ EP and their self-titled album. OK, I didn't know that, but I found it at: http://www.tvadmusic.co.uk/2010/07/lucozade-energy-do-more/
That's where i found it too
17. Cancel the song search :- I've just figured it out with the power of Google I actually liked it until the "singing" cut in....
18. My ears perk up every time this advert starts on the telly. What song is this? What bass is this? How do I get this lovely tone?!?!
19. If you change the location of the strap button on the tbird to the heel of the neck it will be much easier to play standing up, and heavier guage B will make it less floppy!

21. Check out these lessons. Start at number 1 and work through to 6! watch out for the pink bass - wife beater vest combo on number 3. Then practice practice practice! I'm rubbish at slap bass, but have no real need for it. Should probably try to get better though! EDIT: To include the link!
22. Awesome. I can browse the U-Box for hours...
23. Played at The Grapes in Bury St Edmunds last night. Brilliant night as usual, except 3/4 of the way through the second set, when a friend of the band came up and i had some of her WKD. Thegirl that had been dancing in front of me and flirting lots barged into said friend of the band and told her she was my girlfriend(!!!), and a mini shoving fight ensued. The end result was a pint of beer spilt over my pedals and the area I was standing in. The bar staff then chucked a single dish cloth over. Great! Other than that though, it was a great night!
