1.
I'm a bit jarred. Was gonna get one to bastardize then the Mrs remembered the phone bill was due, so the money we could have used was kept for the bill. Phones up today to pay the bill and we're £4 in Credit WTF how does that work out. Turns out they used the deposit put down when we took out the contract to pay the bill with out telling us. And now they are outta stock . TYPICAL
You can buy mine for £150 cash. They're limited edition don't you know!
2. BUMP for price drop and real pictures.
3. I must say that the drummer in my band has got to be the best musician of the lot of us. No ego at all, just a thoroughly great chap! I've only played with a few drummers, but the ones that give you death stares while drumming have to be the worst (even if they don't mean it!)
4.
errr thanks but i need proper ones and i wouldnt know where to start with chopsticks
tape 2 or 3 inch lengths of chopsticks to your right hand fingers and use them as funk fingers?
5. I've just shimmed my Ryder's neck with a business card and an old ID card. The action is now nice and constant across the board. Special thanks must go to BOD2 for his excellent neck shimming instructions (here). I've managed to take a small chunk of paint off the edge of the pocket. Lesson learnt: Loosen the strings A LOT! At least it's happened on a £60 bass not a £300 bass! One thing I did find that alludes more to the cheapness of the bass is the screw holes in the neck. Not sure if anyone else has found this? I've got some GHS precision flatwounds on their way! I've had to raise the saddles right up and it's still a little buzzy, but I'll worry about that when I have the new strings.
6.
Noooo! I just meant that I appear to have talked Himself into ordering one!
I see! I'm sorry! In that case: "One of us! One of us!"
7.
Me and my big mouth!
So YOU'RE the one responsible!!!
8. Weight is 77lbs (35 kg)
9. I think i might get these to put in it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Original-Vintage-196...=item20b6bef5e0 EDIT: Anyone else thinking of going down the ashtray route?
10.
I'd like a USA Fender Precision P pickup...
The pickups costs more than the bass! http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fender-origin...s-pickup--47773
11.
try new strings, seriously.
I'll try that. La Bella flatwounds I think.
12.
1. Through body isnt much use since the ferrels are too small and the bridge goes passed the holes to get the intonation right.
I can't get my E and A strings to intonate. The open string will be perfectly in tune, I'll then fret the 12th fret and it's far too high. Not sure how much further back i can move the saddles back so this could be a problem!
13.
You'd have to cut off half the logo but it's nothing a bandsaw couldn't handle I'd wager!
could just sand the logo off
14. I wonder how tough it would be getting the headstock to look a bit more fender-y...
15. Mines just arrived. Less of a navy blue colour and more turquoise! The pickup cutout is a bit off and the action is monstrously high even with all the saddles lowered right down, so it's going to need a shim. I got a maple fretboard, which I'm chuffed with as I believe this is one of the last. One thing that has amazed me is the grain on the headstock! It's crazy! Extends to the back of the neck too. I haven't plugged it in yet as i'm at work but already have plans to stick flatwounds on and find myself a replacement pup.
16. Come on people, this is an absolute bargain that could blow your trousers clean off!!!
17. If mine doesn't have a maple board I can use that as an excuse to change the neck.
18. If you want a Navy with a maple neck then act fast! The word of Sue Ryder says:
I can put a request in with the warehouse but it appears most of the stock left have rosewood fretboards. I will let you know.
19.
You're just down the road, we'll have to compare them when they both arrive.
We'll be the East Anglian Dark Ryders.
20. Just ordered a Navy Blue and sent an email requesting a maple board. EDIT: Has anyone checked out the soldering on these bad boys?
21. BUMP - Any interest at all?
22. I went to the Thetford and the Diss shop today. No basses to be seen! Looks like I'll be ordering a Navy Blue one on Monday from t'interwebs.
23. I do like the Navy Blue colour. It lokos almost Trans Blue in the picture! Will be popping down to the local Sue Ryder tomorrow to see what can be found! Otherwise, I'll just have to get one from the website. Would love a BWB pickguard on it I think...
24. PRICE DROP TO £170 BUMP!
