1. OH GOD!! IS IT TM FOR THIS AGAIN?
2.
I don't see any reason it couldn't work, but the main reason I'm posting is to ask why you've flattened the top horn? It just seems like an odd modification, and was wondering if there was a specific reason, or just for aesthetic reasons?
At a guess, I would say it has something to do with moving the strap pin back for load balancing?
3. An 8x10 is COMPLETELY ridiculous for a pub gig. Are you out of your mind?!?! I gig a 300w 15" combo in a band with two guitarists and a loud drummer and no PA support with ease. One guitarist has a 4x12 and the other one gigs a 1x12 line 6 combo (on a stand that puts it about ear height on top of my combo).
4. I reckon he just panicked the morning before the show because he didn't have a red bass with a white scratchplate and bought the first one he found! Start the video at 2:40, the second song has a much better bass line
5.
Well, that's helped me make my mind up for the colour scheme for my Ryder - out goes the white/pearl/whatever scratchplate, and in comes...black! Thanks for that.
OK, as long as we're all aware that I was one of the early adopters and I liked the combination before it was cool/mainstream! /hipster
6. Can I play?
7.
That is an absolute beaut!! Looks realy good with the black and dark blue The neck and headstock have a nice pattern on it too. But I am cringing at you leaning it against that rough brick wall - Ouch!! Haha - Overseas boutique - Thats what Im thinking about mine too lol A
Thanks very much for your kind words! I promise I leant it against the wall very gently.
8. Well! Here she is! The (soon to be) Infamous Dark Ryder! List of "improvements" made so far: 1x GHS Stainless Steel Precision Flatwound Electric Bass Strings 45-105 1x Fender 80s Jazz Special Precision pickup (the Duff McKagan model) 1x Precision Bass Mexican Standard Scratchplate - Black / White / Black 15x FENDER PICKGUARD SCREW CHROME 1x FENDER VINTAGE P-BASS BRIDGE COVER 1x KiOgon P-Bass wiring kit (with CTS Pots and Switchcraft jack (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!)) 1x DSL Leather strap (actually bought this months ago for my T40, but it looks fantastic with maple necks and much better than the Ryder supplied strap) Still to come: 2x Flat-top Precision Knobs (the CTS pots have pretty large shafts on them, and the knobs I need are out of stock at WD) OK OK... I know I have spent far too much on this thing (total is roughly £100 spent on improvements)! But it's always easier when the spending is spread out over a few weeks rather than one big lump isn't it! This is about as close as I will get to a bass custom built to my own spec (that's how I am justifying it anyway!). I know I won't make this money back if I sell it, but that's not really the point! I think I'll be telling people that Ryder is a lesser known over-seas boutique brand.
9.
Did it come without controls? Yeah 250k and a 0.047 drop cap. The orange.
Yep, it came without knobs.
10. Send a PM to KiOgon, he supplies well made ready to go wiring looms for a very decent price!
11. I went to my local Focus DIY today in search of a suitable drill bit. Decided that 1.5mm was too small and 2.5mm was too large, and couldn't find a 2mm bit. Grrr... I will have to try again another day.
12. My SR is awaiting it's fate at the moment, I have to drill the holes to fit the black pickguard and bridge cover. I have put masking tape on and marked where the holes need to be, i just need to work up the courage to get drilling! Then she will be complete!
13. I would recommend the following sites for bass tabs: www.ttabs.com www.ultimate-guitar.com Take them all with a pinch of salt though. Being written mostly be teenagers who haven't set foot out of their bedrooms, their accuracy is a bit poor at times. Just ignore all the standard notation elitists
14.
Ooh, found it. Is it getting good reviews on TB then? Looks like their answer to things like the Big One and fEarful type designs which are springing up
Share with rest of us?
15. I managed to do exactly the same thing to my Ryder when I took the neck off to shim.
16. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can get my wiring re-done in my Sue Ryder P? My local music shop is owned by a mate of mine and he is quite frankly awful ! How much is it likely to cost me? I'm sure I will get some "do it yourself!" suggestions, but I have tried in the past and been awful, and I don't fancy the expense of a decent iron for a one off job. Much appreciated!
17. Ordered my black pickguard and chrome bridge cover today
18.
It breaks my heart to see so little love for a quality piece of kit at a brilliant price... if I didn't already have two 2x15s, I'd love this one! Great deal folks!!
Thank you for the support!
19.
I can't find the icon for "ner ner ner neeer ner" I wish they'd made the P-bass in red. I don't like red guitars, but then I was supposed to not like P-basses either Now I think a red P-bass with tortoiseshell type pickguard and rosewood fingerboard (and I'm a fan of maple) is a very cool looking thing indeed. what happened to me?
They DID make it in red!
