  1. I haven't but I'll give them a go next time I need some. ๐Ÿ‘
  2. I like the sound of broken in rounds, the smoothness of flats and like higher rather than lower tension strings. I've settled on D'addario half rounds (enr72 50-105) as my go to string. They sound like a broken in round straight out the packet but with the solid bottom end of a flat, and stay that way for a few years. Played with a pick or aggressive fingers they still have plenty of clank, just not that shrill new round high.
  3. She came from Planet Claire. No she didn't!
  4. Funny you should say that as when I saw it I thought it was earlier (before they ahem, turned shite). I just compiled a a setlist from a website I found which listed all the UK top ten songs of' 82. I've just delved deeper and this is from the ever reliable Wikipedia, A stereo remix of the original mono Fast Product version was released as a single in August 1980 through EMI Records, failing to chart. This stereo remix was then reissued in January 1982, this time reaching Number 6 in the UK.
  5. Blancmange, Living on the ceiling. This song is sung in the first person but that would make the title (and content) physically impossible. Now if it were sung about a piece of blancmange that had been flicked up there by an unruly child then, although 'living' would be factually incorrect, then it would make much more sense. Mr. Collins, buck your ideas up!
  6. They must've been singing about the ill fated Rover 75.
  7. Get your DM's and Harrington on and stomp around the living room. ๐Ÿ˜
  8. However, walking through fields of gold? Come on. One of the densest metals on earth and you've somehow walked through a field of it. The bruises on your shins must be epic!
  9. I've tried to make a fun, dancey set from '82 that isn't filled (too much) with the obvious stuff. Bow Wow Wow - Go Wild In The Country. Fun Boy Three feat. Bananarama - It Ain't What You Do (it's the way that you do it). Altered Images - I Could Be Happy. Depeche Mode - See You. Soft Cell - Say Hello, Wave Goodbye/Torch/What (mashup). Kraftwerk - The Model. Human League - Being Boiled. Blancmange - Living On The Ceiling. Haircut 100 - Fantastic Day. Junior - Mama Used To Say. Modern Romance - Best Years Of Our Lives. Toni Basil - Mickey Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes. ABC - Poison Arrow. Associates - Party Fears Two. Yazoo - Don't Go. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message. Wham! - Young Guns (go for it!) Duran Duran - Rio Madness - House Of Fun. Pigbag - Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag. The Jam - Beat Surrender.
  10. Our earliest now which hasn't been cancelled is the 5th September, but whether we'll be able to, who knows. @Bluewine, as none of us in the UK can gig yet so have nothing to smile about, when you post your gig news with accompanying photo, could you smile please. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
  11. On candystripe legs, the spiderman comes, softly through the shadow of the evening sun. Right Bob, where do I even start? Spiderman didn't have candystripe legs and was a fictional character anyway, and how did he come through the shadow of the evening sun? The sun, being a light source, doesn't have a shadow. Not a great start!
  12. So you're agreeing with me, making your opening line of that post on factually incorrect lyrics factually incorrect. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hopefully someone will be along soon to decipher the lyrics of 'Tubestation' with a graph and some random statistics they found on the internet, then explain them to us all like a condescending know it all. ๐Ÿ˜
  13. 'Cos he won't put that bloody lollipop down to enable him to hold the paintbrush properly. ๐Ÿ˜†
  14. But Weller states that he was on his way home to his wife, and following the kicking was worried as they had taken his keys and his wife would think it was him arriving home, implying that the thugs had left and were heading to his home. Therefore the station could not have been locked.
  15. Who'd have guessed that? ๐Ÿ˜†
  16. From the video I don't think she was looking for anyone, but I suppose, "Is it me you're listening and feeling for?" doesn't scan as well.
  17. "Lights going out and a kick in the balls". No! That is not bloody entertainment!
  18. U2, Vertigo. 1 - 2 - 3 - 14, eh?
  19. Too slow my friend, it's been quoted and will never disappear. ๐Ÿ˜
  20. Absolutely terrible. Well played ๐Ÿ˜†
  21. The chordae tendineae (tendinous cords), colloquially known as the heart strings, are tendon-resembling fibrous cords of connective tissue that connect the papillary muscles to the tricuspid valve and the mitral valve in the heart.
  22. Ha, I knew a Slipknot tribute band would be worth doing!
  23. It's very hard to post this without sounding patronising towards audiences, and I really mean the following in the best possible way. I've always tried to pick popular covers that aren't played by every other band. I understand our job is to give the audience what they want, but, and here's the patronising part, they don't know what they want until they hear it (I know it sounds bad). What I mean by this is that yes they will be shouting for the usual songs but if you play a forgotten classic then suddenly they enjoy that just as much as whatever it was that the band last week, and the week before that, and the week before that played that they were shouting for. Just go for the slightly less obvious choice and every one is happy. There are some absolutely fantastic 80s songs that aren't the usual suspects. and just for hell of it as such pure 80s cheese, but I'd love to hear a pub band do it, Obviously you'll have to pick the right songs for the right gig.
  24. It'll make no discernable difference to the sound, purely visual. Looking at the J pickup, the E and G string are both off centre of the pole pieces towards the centre line of the bass, so to centre them in the pole pieces would mean changing to a wider string spacing, which could then possibly give you problems with the strings being to close to the edge of the fretboard. Best left alone.
  25. It'll make all the difference in the world and absolutely none at all, depending on who you speak to.
