1. What he says it's not is exactly what it is. Awful, awful, awful, ruined a perfectly good instrument.
2. eBay most definately do have access to all messages sent through their message system & will use them, so any off eBay malarky needs to be done via personal emails. If you ever need eBay support don't bother with eMail or live support, you need to speak to Dublin. Ring up, if you get the call centre place in Malasia (or wherever) just retry until you get Dublin. The folk in Dublin are actually very helpful. It's well worth reading the eBay forums for buyers & sellers, loads of tips & advice there.
3. If you raise a mutual cancellation for the auction you'll get your final value fee back & both of you can still leave feedback.
4. And replied. Shipping comes to a mere £12 if anyone wants it but needs it shipping.
5. Now sold, thanks. If anyone is looking for good little amp for home use then I'm selling my Marshall MB30. Plenty loud enough to upset the family, lots of features great range of tones & it's only £50! http://www.marshalla...geType=OVERVIEW Would much prefer local pick up otherwise I'll need to find some packing material & shipping will be at cost. PM me if you're interested, I'm just south of Middlesbrough if you want to try it out.
6.
Rule number two under "Guidelines for Sellers" http://basschat.co.u...tion=rules&f=19 Would a car sales centre try and sell cars with only a written description?
2. Please provide pictures with your listing, or show your intent to do so. It will help people judge the accuracy of the advert and help you sell the item. If pictures are impossible, if you can't get someone to lend you their camera, you should allow viewing of the item. I would think the OPs statements about "pics available on request" & his preference for collection or meet up are more than sufficient.
7. I own one of these & they are superb basses - solid mahogany, set neck, US made, play great & sound even better. The neck pick up is the classic fat warm Gibson tone but the bridge pickup is surprisingly punchy, great for fingerstyle funk.
8. First ones left the factory in December 1978, according to MM.
9. Sold a Tokai to Ryan & he was excellent to deal with. Quick comms, quick payment - a real pleasure.
10. Selling my Line 6 Studio GX Toneport. A bit like the Guitarport but more geared towards home recording, rather than a teaching tool. The amp models are a big step up from the original Guitarport versions, much smoother & more organic. Anyway, read all about it here; http://line6.com/podstudiogx/ . I'll post pictures if you really want them, but it's a black box with a big chrome knob! Comes with original packaging & in excellent condition. £45 to your door (assuming your door is in the UK!).
11. Sorry Pierre, you were beaten to it . Now sold pending the usuals.
12. Here we go folks, excuse the whippet's nose in the first picture.
13. Pics coming just as soon as I get my camera charged up. The Bass This is a Tokai Jazz bass that I'm told dates to 82-84 (L serial number, later Tokai logo). It's clearly Tokai's take on Larry Graham's Moon Jazz with the white body, neck & headstock - although the rosewood fingerboard is unpainted - so not quite like the Moon. Twin jazz pickups with the front pick up angled, I have upgraded the stock Tokai's for a pair of Bartolinis which are wired to a passive VVT control harness. The Condition Unbelievable - a few very small impressions here & there but the paint is unbroken throughout. The white has just started to age with a slight yellow hue, the frets have no discernible wear. Probably the cleanest 25+ year old instrument you'll find. The Sound & Feel It sounds like a good Jazz should, with rounds it's a slappers dream & with the current LaBella flats it's a great Motown/Stax bass. Neck is typically Jazz in its proportions & the build quality is everything you would expect from Tokai's golden years. The Price Pricing is difficult because I have only ever seen one other example of this model. It owes me £450 but with the recession I'm asking for a firm £399. That price includes the original Tokai pickups & gets you a bass well above the quality of Mexican & some US Fenders - plus you aint going to find soemone else with the same bass. I have no case for this so would prefer collection from my Teesside mansion. If you want it shipped I have a suitable box but it will need to be at your own risk. Payment forms are many, Paypal gift, direct transfer, cheque, cash, weapons grade plutonium......ok, maybe not that last one. Not interested in any trades, thank you.
14. [sub]Best bass Rob has ever made. Loved mine, regret selling it more than anything else I've owned.[/sub]
15. Fantastic bargain, these are superb, superb basses & i agree that it's the Jazz to the Stingray's Precision. Seriously, someone needs to snap this up & now - well, either this or that butcherd Warwick .
16.
Best wishes with the sale, mate. If Mister John Hall had just sat back for a minute or two before he pressed 'send', he would have saved his firm a good few customers. He needs a lesson in manners, that man.
When I met him on a flight last year he was charming, urbane and considerate. Very giving of his time, knowlegable & passionate about maintaining his father's legacy. His position on copies may not suit everyone but, as I understand the law in America, to maintain a legitimate copyright claim a company must be able demonstrate that it challenges inappropriate referrences to its product. If it can't do that then it risks it's trademarks becoming classed as generic terms, free for anyone to use. Whatever the rights & wrongs of the copyright issue, as a person, I found him very affable.
17. Good morning guys! I've received a request from the seller to revise my feedback! He obviously didn't realise that what he wrote to eBay would be copied to me so he expects a revision after telling eBay what an awful person I am. He's also told eBay that the amp was faulty, so he's either lying to eBay or to all those kind enough to ask him a question.
18. Oddly enough Warwick, he's just sent me a mutual cancellation request (which I declined) & I made that exact point. I also pointed out that the destruction of his feedback was entirely his own fault.
19. I have reported him for non-performance & eBay have issued him with a warning. Wooks is spot on though, I cannot force him to complete the deal although I could sue for breach of contract. Posting here was really just to warn BC'ers that the guy shouldn't be trusted & show them what the real market value of the amp is.
20. I won the auction below last night. Within 3 minutes of the auction ending, the seller had refunded my payment & sent me a message saying the amp had packed up just after the auction ended. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gallien-Kreuger-MB115-/320970963292?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=GkMBhhPFehlqG04fR%2FaNsnQKxQE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Less than a day later it's fully functioning again & available for almost twice the original sale price. Form an orderly queue; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320974732269
21. When I sold my Wal I went for a 99 pence no reserve auction. With an instrument that desirable I figured there was no way it would fail to reach an acceptable price. I ended up getting double what I'd bought it for.
