  1. I'd wondered about the Schecter, so it's good to hear some feedback on that. 🙂
  2. Definitely. That combo has taken them to another level. 🙂
  3. I've been listening to Gong recently. Especially the You album. I've never previously spent much time listening to their stuff, so now is the time.
  4. Great stuff! It's been great to see so much of Carina Round since this latest Puscifer release. Saw her live in a pub in Milton Keynes, with about 10 other people (might have been 20). Amazing gig... supremely talented!
  5. Glad it wasn't just me. My copy really sounded quite poor, but it was a gorgeous looking bass, very well built. I was very tempted to swap the pickups out, but in the end it went back and hopefully into someone else's loving embrace.
  6. I feel your pain! The main reason I play 5 and 6 strings is for the tighter spacing.
  7. I had one of these for a home trial last year, but it was very weak sounding. Very nicely built, though! I'm sure the Fishman p'ups are good and I'm sure it was just my copy - but it was the only one I could find in UK stock. Dood reviewed it for Gi and seemed to think it was alright.
  8. Seems to be! My past experiences suggested they were always into the latest thing, which might be because of commissions... and I suppose that's understandable.
  9. I chose yes (though there's nothing wrong with 60-year old tech). Because in principle it works well. However: I've never played a multiscale that I liked the feel of. I've never played a multiscale that sounded good. But, I've not played every multiscale out there! Owned a couple of Ibanez models, a Strandberg prog, and had a Dingwall NTG for an extended loan. All of them played like turkey, or had poor ergonomics (neck dive, etc) and really none sounded that great. The Dingwall was probably best, but I swear the neck was fatter than a baseball bat (not my preference).
  10. I thought that was what the 5P was? Anyway, lovely basses! I had a 5Pii and it was just a bit long and heavy for me. A 5P would be amazing!
  11. np. 🙂 Hoping an owner can chime in.
  12. I can't help but agree. I might be wrong, but I get the impression he's one of those kinds of shop owners who has a very fixed idea of his business. I can't blame him, as it probably works well most of the time, and it might mean that his regular customers get reliable and consistent service. It's certainly better than the Gallery: he keeps the website mostly up to date and isn't downright unpleasant.
  13. This is right. Not that Mark has been at all interested the few times I have called him out on it. However, it's still valuable if people also want to post on here with their experiences, don't you think? It's only the same as chatting to your mates down the pub. I personally find it quite comforting to know that it's not just me... and also I find it reassuring that others have had better experiences!
  14. It's a nice looking bass. I hope you have good luck selling it!
  15. Well that's a beauty! 😍😍😍 I'd almost be tempted to sell my car for that!
  16. I think there's some variance in the quality of the Sterling range, but from what I've seen... they're comparable, but not quite as premium feeling as the MM stuff. In most cases, it's subtle. If I played Stingrays, I'd probably use a Sterling Ray 35. They sound just as good in most situations. Heck, I'd love a Sterling Bongo!
  17. There's one listed here, with a few specs: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Yamaha_TRB_5P.html Of course, they might have varied the spec over time. This looks similar to the current model 1005, so maybe not.
  18. Mine was a Tanglewood copy of a Corvette, around 1997. Beautiful green stain. Played quite nicely, from what I remember. Oddly, I was never that serious about the bass until I moved on from the Tanglewood (circa 1999). I defretted it and kept it around until 2010-ish. Then I gave it to a local music charity.
  19. I permanently have a sock on my Bongo headstock. Protects the overly-long and sensitive paintwork. 😄 😅 😭
  20. I've had a lot of bad experience with BD for customer service issues. First time I remember they sent me a new cab which was completely damaged and made me work so hard for a replacement (the packaging was completely intact). Most recently I went in there a few years ago and was trying to choose a new OD pedal and I wanted a bit of advice. The guy in there didn't want to help, but was OH SO KEEN when Scott Devine came in. Spent the whole time chatting, while I left with nothing. I take a look at their stock sometimes, but something always stops me investigating further.
  21. Probably not helpful to you, but I often detune my .100, 35" to a low B. It works well for certain things, but I wouldn't personally like it if I needed a really tight (sounding) B. They're EB Slinky Cobalts.
  22. oh man, that would freak me out! I wonder, how many other basses have this?
