1. Damn just when I'd got the balance on my credit card down! it's big brother the CTM 300 is the best valve amp I've ever plugged into, this beasty will be very interesting
2. Next day delivery at GAK so assume now in stock. Very sexy little boxes I have to say. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ashdown-mi-10/62379 http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ashdown-mi-12/62381
3. The MiBass 1x12 looks very good...
4. Just spotted this on GAK's homepage; http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ashdown-drophead-15-competition Someone's gonna have a great Christmas! Now to befriend someone in power at GAK... ;-)
5.
So, here we are from last night then. You will notice that the input was set to passive, and all the EQ is set flat. Pre shape scoop filter not engaged (button set "push to flat". Used the valve drive on some songs, and the sub on a couple of numbers too. Sounds wicked. Massive and fat and warm and thumpy. Bass is a modded MTD Kingston KZ4 - with USA barts and the US Bart preamp. You will also notice that the volume is on half way. And to be fair, it was loud but not THAT loud. Pushing much beyond this had little effect. Plenty loud enough though, but not as massive as you might expect (4 ohm load so all the power). Certainly, into an 8 ohm ashdown 4 by 10 it was no quieter. And as an aside, my little GK MB200 (200w into 4 ohms) is about as loud. Big stage though, and I could hear myself just fine. I am pondering looking for an ABM 900, although I don't think you can bridge them. Anyway, all is good. If my cabs sell, I will get an ABM 410. And maybe a 210 to go on top. That should do it.
You should have a look at this - http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=abm&ID=265 Same size as ABM 500 and same pre but with loads of power and less weight, I was talking to Mark Gooday about it recently and he said frankly that it scared him the first time he tested it, 1000 watts true RMS 2000 peak! Seriously thinking long term one of these should replace my Klystron...
6. This seems one of the bargains of the year think there's a new version or something hence crazy price, great little combo and unbeatable at his price plus Ashdown have 5 year warranty now... http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/37170-ashdown-electric-blue-12-180-evo-ii-combo.html#sterling_uk
7.
Amazing amplifier, wonderful clean tones, eq amazing, beautifully handmade, extremely powerful, its Number 3, cant wait to put it to work this summer!
How've you been getting on with this? I keep looking at the red custom one they did and im fighting hard not to sell all my gear and just order one, love the LB 30 so I am pretty sure I will love one of these even more... Damn you Ashdown ;-)
8. The shifts are indeed quite subtle, as you say the bass one has the biggest effect really changing the whole character, really old school vs a more modern tighter sound. The mid and treble switches do have a less dramatic effect but do affect the tone depending on what bass you are using and also dont forget they are interactive so depending on how you have one switch set it affects what the others do so you really can find your 'own' sound as it were. As i said, love mine ;-)
9. Glad you're loving your LB, love mine, fantastic buttery old school tones. Haven't gigged mine but have always thought it would be enough for sensible situations and good to hear you say it copes well
10. For a UK made 300 watt head I think £1600 is well priced, doesn't help if like me you don't have £1600 to start with though!
11. Looks cool but i'm gassing much more for one of these, hand built in the UK and cheaper than the fender! http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=valve&ID=267
12. Jeff seems to chop and change heads but the Ashdown has been in his gig consistently for years, great player and love that Lull https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150475538175561&set=a.437845765560.218966.29324345560&type=3

14. I had a quick blast on one a couple of weeks back just out of curiosity really and have to say didnt think much too it, in my opinion theyve crammed lots of great features into it but forgetten to actually put any real tone in, difficult to dial in what I would class as good basic solid tones and something about the sound in general seemed a bit off, only way I can describe it is artificial if that makes any sense?
15. Think GK may be going down the route of creative marketing with these Neo's(I assume they must have outsourced to TC Electronics marketing dept) theres no way the 112 cab Soundslive are selling has a real Neo in it, cannot be done at that price, I'm sure it's a perfectly decent cab and light but getting tired of companies and their half truths...
16. Checkout the Ashdown MiBass too, great bit of kit
17.
I stopped worrying about things like that a long time ago. If it's survived travelling sea-freight and doesn't drop dead during the first few tens of hours of use (wherein you can easily get it swapped out under warranty) then it's probably going to last a length of time commensurate to the level of care shown to it during its service life, irrespective of what it is and where it was made.
Yup I dont think theres much wrong with most chinese gear these days as long as properly QC'd, underlying fact though is its still cheaper to make stuff in china than UK hence the price of UK product understandibly being higher
18. The Electric Blue is really a small gig amp and whilst it's a great amp at the price point it is what it is, why don't you just get a proper Ashdown? MAG or ABM if you can stretch to it, a whole other world compared to your EB, Peavey gear in my opinion ain't what it once was
19.
Looks interesting, if a little ambitiously priced. Be interesting to get it alongside an OTB1000 to see if it's worth the extra 400 quid.
Considering the amount of extra features and that they are making them in the UK custom shop vs the OTB made in china i think the price is actually really good. May have to have a blast through one and see if I can get the same tone as my Klystron with less weight as I am sure my back would thank me in the long run!
20. It's a custom shop one of these by the look of it - http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=valve&ID=267
21. Woah! Awesome! Jealous. What kind of tones can you get? Does it dirty up? Again, jealous!
22. Nice, great GAS! Let us know how you get on
23. I'm pretty sure there is an 8ohm speaker out jack socket on the control panel? If so that would suggest adding an 8ohm cab is fine...
24. Just caught it halfway through, great playing and tone and lots of famous people keep turning up!
25.
Good on em! I know they are making me something just at the moment, hope they finish it soon, big amp less at the moment!
Oooo! Do tell!
