1. The 30 watt Ashdown Fliptop has been getting a lot of love recently, just noticed a picture of a 200 watt version on their facebook, oh dear lord
2. JJ uses ABM 410's and ABM 115's so maybe an ABM 410 be a good place to start?
3. I saw this on saturday as well, was blown away as it looked even better in the flesh than the pics. Think I will have to get some money together as will be perfect for home/studio use and small gigs. Although may have to sell the LB30 I have to fund it as does seem extravagant to have both. One of the Ashdown guys did mention that there was going to be a bigger brother next year 100-200 watts... Now that I cant wait to see.
4. If you like the sound of the Ashdown then why not just go for the ABM 210 Compact cab? Well within budget too... http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/3712...tml#sterling_uk
5.
Who else is getting tired with the little bastard moniker on this amp series, great idea, sh*te name, I am not offended by it he he i am fairly liberal, but its so damm cheesy. Cant wait till they bring out their rock focused offering next year the w@@ker and their new wave fuzz pedal the c@@k maybe even a jazz eq pedal the cheesy h@@met
You do understand why the amp is called the little bastard? The little bastard was the nickname of the Porsche 550 that belonged to James Dean, hence the red and chrome influence... If you know Ashdown they're all car mad and lots of their products are car influenced, im pretty sure they dont just try to think up possibly offensive names like you suggest...
6. Bugger - best phone my credit card company in advance
7. For those of you who havent had chance to try the Little Bastard yet, just spotted Guitarist Mag have put their review online - http://www.musicradar.com/gear/all/amplifi...d-284590/review
8. Have you emailed ashdown about it? im sure they would help you out even if its a case of you popping down to the factory I am sure they would sort if for you while you wait...
9. You should have a look at the Ashdown MAG range, 300 watts, DI, compressor, Sub Octave, 5 band eq etc etc, solid good sounding workhorses and both the 1x15 and 2x10 combos come in well under budget... Check it - http://www.dv247.com/guitars/ashdown-mag-c...er-combo--73684 http://www.dv247.com/guitars/ashdown-mag-c...er-combo--73683
10. With that kind of budget you could(just about) get a MAG 410 cab and a MAG 600 head, lots more power than the combo and if you get a 1x15 at some point or a 2x10 you can use 2 cabs for big gigs and have the option of the smaller cab for small gigs...
11. A mate of mine had one and it crapped out a few times before he got rid, think he had the 600 watt one, didnt sound like a Trace either which was odd
12.
That Ashdown will be ok for a beginner but its sounds like me you have progressed beyond its limitations which in my case is not to a level where ashdown and there diehard fans would have you beleive the gear is at.Get spending!
I think some of these comments at the end of the day are a bit harsh on Ashdown, at the end of the day you have a budget rig, Ashdown themselves admit the MAG range is an affordable option for beginners/semi pro's on a budget etc, if you want a better tone and more flexibilty as youve outgrown the MAG stuff then get your money out and look at the top end UK made Ashdown gear like the ABM range, the new valve gear and the 550 Spyder etc which are by all accounts killer amps, its like buying a BMW 1 series and expecting an M5 and then moaning its not what you hoped, you get what you pay for at the end of the day, different products for different uses and budgets, and from the amount of Ashdown used by huge bands every night of the week its a bit crazy to say Ashdown doesnt make pro worthy gear...
13.
I'm surprised they haven't been assimilated by the Borg* collective yet * Gibson/Fender/Loud etc.
I'm sure they've tried, I think Fender tried to buy them a few years back but in the end bought SWR instead, probably the best thing for Ashdown or they'd just be another brand killed off by Fender...
14. Do you have a budget in mind? I havent tried the Orange Iso 410 but im kind of put off by the fact it will just aim your sound at your ankles unless up on a crate or something... Anyways have you considered one of the pro Ashdown 410's, my Neo 410 is blisteringly loud and I believe the new USA 410 is their take on an Ampeg 410(but made in uk not the far east)
15. Nice to see Ashdown on here and setting things straight. Always loved my Ashdown gear and the fact they're an independent english company, never had any issues with my gear and on the couple of times ive contacted them for info they've been nothing but helpful. Good work Ashdown!
16. +1 on the EB, great little combos for the money
17. Or you sell your Little Bastard and buy a Big Bastard ;-)
18.
I desperately need to find some protective covers for both these, before they get scratched to buggery in my van.
Ive had some covers from these guys in the past, very good and theyll make up anything you want... 19.
I have immense amounts of gas for the 2x12:
Made in England I think
20.
do you mean this one ? http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...alve&ID=233
Yeah thats the one, think they look very cool...
21. Ive been running mone through my 410 but am thinking about getting the Ashdown 112 for it for a mini rig so would be interested to hear if anyones tried one... The cheap ashdown cabs are what they are but the UK cabs have always been awesome in my opinion...
22. Anyone else seen the new Vodafone advert? Saw it last night on tele and had to rewind as theres a big close up of an Ashdown VU powering up... Anyone else spot it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeUc552uWdQ 11 seconds in...
