1. Oh man, the Victor Wooten debate again. He plays that stuff at clinics to sell gear, he plays it in the middle of solos at shows for people that think fast=good. The important thing to remember when Victor is doing this, when he plays it, he Grooves all the way through, no matter how quick, how many notes, how many muted notes are in it, mistakes etc.... he grooves through it. For a completely different side of Wooten, Ari's Eyes, not a single slapped note in site, just a lovely melody with an extremely tasteful solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVh5Lurpdxs I look forward to the day that bass players can accept that this stuff happens, some enjoy it, some don't.
 2. Oh i like that.
 3.
Except if the head overhangs it by 3 inches each side... and won't sit still ! I'm not a fan of Mark Bass, unfortunately. Too, erm... orange. I think current favourite is the Shuttle 6.0 Reidmar is a close 2nd with my reservation being on the upper limit of 250w - will than be enough into 8ohms ? I've played with the Shuttles all day at Bass Day 2008 so am fairly familiar with them.
Definitely try the Reidmar if you can before passing it because of the 250 watt rating. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised!
 4. Just watched this on Facebook Tom, really enjoyed it! The Ritter sounds lovely!
 5. I guess it depends on how handy your soldering skills are. You can pretty much take any pedal and transfer it to a rack mounted box. A friend of mine had 3 pedals that he used all the time & needed space on his pedal board for more pedals, so rather than buying a bigger pedal board he encased the 3 pedals into a 1u rack mount with all the controls on the front. I'll try find some pictures of it!
 6. Sound Technology are the UK distributors, have a word with them. http://www.soundtech.co.uk/index.php
 7. i really really enjoyed that!
 8.
Very nice. Like the finish. Not particularly keen on those short toms myself, I prefer the sustain you get with deeper ones. That concert tom on the left looks quite interesting and the cymbals are very nice as well. What I would say is that I remember I used to have the beaters on the plastic side in order to increase the attack, but the real trick is to lower the tuning which gives you the higher pitched "attack" of the kick drum, without using the hard plastic surface that can wear away at the head and which IMO doesn't really sound quite as good. But yeah, pretty good. I remember looking at getting a superstar as my first kit but I thought the used starclassic was too good to pass up really If I could have afforded a 24" ride I would have got one lol.
He uses it for pop & hiphop stuff so the toms want to be really tight sounding as appose to having massive sustain. He also does that with the kick drum but uses the beaters as well. The double pedal has gone now though, he doesn't need it. That concert tom is just a standard size floor tom with a suede skin on it, tuned down low with do bottom skin, essentially a sub kick sound when mic'd. The only thing missing from the picture is his new Roland SPDS-x which i'm having masses of fun on at the moment triggering samples and loops with the band.
That is a really nice setup
I'll tell him
 9. I don't own a kit but i live with a drummer so always steal his Heres come picks
 10.
Had my first lesson with Jake yesterday. He's a first class player and great guy to deal with. He gave me some great tips, and knew exactly what I needed to work on. He also worked on the areas I wanted to work on, not just a 'one size fits all' approach. If you're thinking of having bass lessons in the Manchester area you can't do much better than Jake.
thanks mate. Bump.
 11. He's essentially using his thumb as a pick, similar to the double thumb technique to an extent. I've used it on a gig when I forgot any pics and need a more driving tone.
 12. Done a couple of deals with Martin now. Always on time & a pleasure to talk with. Thanks again Martin.
 13.
F### me sideways. That reads as good as it sounds! I am going to convert it to bass clef for easier reading (I can't get it all on my 4 string so will need to tweak). Shame the transcriber didn't put the chords in as the study value is reduced. Without the chords, learning potential is a less.
I can send you the Sibelius or music XML file if want bilbo, just send me you email address.
 14.
I'm going for a Reidmar now with two classic cabs.
Awesome news
 15.
Nice set up dude!
Cheers man, hows the pre/power route working for you??
Nice! Didn't realise EBS has gone down the "small & compact" route! Tony
Yeah, the head came out about a month ago, I'm loving it!
I like the look of that EBS rig
thankyou, its lovely!
This was Josh's bass wasn't it, Ive had a few Siggery's ,great until you need to adjust the truss rod, looks like a tidy set you got there. Love the EBS gear you got
It was, its been changed a bit since he had hit. Yeah, i keep meaning to route a channel for easy access to the truss rod but i've been using the same strings & gauge for almost 2 years now so it rarely needs adjusting. I keep a mixture of tools in my Mono gig bag so when needs a must The EBS stuff is really nice, looks awesome on stage!
 16.
Just a quick question for you guys, do any of the rigs on the forum get gigged with? They all seem too immaculate, i'll get a pic of my rig at weekend its completely batterd just due to transporting & in and out of the van etc.
Gig with mine minimum of 3 times a week. I'm just careful with it & doesn't slide along the van floor as it's light enough to pick it up one handed.

 18. A friend of mine sent me a paper copy if the solo so i took it upon my self to put it into sibelius & share it. Once downloaded, just change the .ipb extension to .pdf & it will open in and pdf reader. Alternatively, link here, http://jbbass.co.uk/Documents/Baby%20Dirty%20Loops.pdf Jake
 19. iRealB & Forscore are by far the most used apps on my iPad.
 20. I couldn't find my old thread for my gear so i thought i'd start a new one. I'm so happy with what i have at the moment, everything sounds fantastic together. 21.
Hey Bilbo - I can't seem to open the file on my Mac. First time I've come across an ipb file. Any ideas? EDIT - Just found the file on the miguelzenon.com site. Thanks for this.
If you on a mac, just change the name from filename.ipb to filename.pdf. It will ask you which extension you want to keep, click pdf. Then it will work
