The video comes across as "I'm more clever than you" but then discusses something incredibly basic. What's funny is it is boring presentation, taking over 7 minutes to tell someone else how not to be boring with only one major point being made which let's face it is very weak, not interesting or insightful. Contrast his video with Scott Devine's and its worlds away in terms of engaging presentation. There's also a million ways you can talk about being "more interesting" in terms of what you play on your instrument, not how you look, and if the content were like that there may only be two pages of scoffing and not four.

Yeah, they are very good. I particularly like that you can add a click track to play along with, or your backing track, but you can get it to only record your bassline/ guitar part. This is 2x bass tracks and a handful of guitar tracks all recorded using the Blackstar as an interface to Audacity. Are you a boring YouTuber?! Over seven minutes to say make eye contact with the audience and move around a bit.... The video was boring. Also, if its "teach me music" why not talk about making boring bass lines more interesting, that would be relevant, educational and interesting.

Cracking little practice amp for: Bass Electric Acoustic Music (well, Bluetooth speaker or aux in but that wouldn't make a good acronym). Outstanding little practice amp and ideal for a bit of quick recording too. The Bluetooth speaker is excellent also for sound quality and volume. Everything you'd need for sitting in your home office for a quick jam in between remote working meetings. I have used this a lot for recording too. I'll include the power lead and USB cable. Only selling because my Helix now does the recording interface bit and I've got another Bluetooth speaker. Otherwise I'd be keeping it! Collection preferred due to size but will post (contact me for details) in a well packed but non original box. Please PM me with any questions.

Super clean barely touched EHX Bass Mono Synth pedal. Bought just before I got a Helix Stomp so need to recover some cash, can't have too many pedals when the idea was one pedal to do everything! Gets some good 80s sounds and some modern sounds too, very flexible. Velcro on the bottom, no original box or power supply but takes a standard 9v. Selling for the same as I bought it for a few months back. Collection preferred otherwise can post. Please PM me with any questions.

Not sure what the big reveal is here, it's really easy to pick out from the mix, have always played it like that. OK, I use open strings a lot rather than fifth fret but the rhythm and note placement aren't difficult to resolve. I should add... I am terrible at picking things out by ear. Terrible. This is probably a good song for people to start out with though. Someone previously mentioned filling out the song by playing the guitar riff under the solo, sounds interesting I'll be giving that a go 👍

I toyed with buying a 78 lefty P about 7 years ago that had a sun faded body but the neck looked brand new. Seems the previous owner either cleaned it a lot or didn't play it much. I didn't buy it but someone from the Forum did (there aren't many of us kack handers about) and he loved it. I've also got a 1984 Aria that's been beaten to sh!t that I've resurrected. Whether it was played a lot or just used as a skateboard I'm not sure.

They are! I've had two sets. One because I sold the bass to some absolute cretin who sent it back to me for a refund minus the knobs, and then another set to replace those. Worth getting them for authenticity.

They do but in the 10 series, double the cost.

I always thought of Washburn as top quality. The first band I was in had a lead guitarist who was insanely good. He and his step dad had an amazing guitar collection but the Washburn super Strat was always his number 1. Then when I started to see all the budget Washburns come up I felt a bit let down by them. I'd be happy with an 80s or 90s Washburn any day.

Anyone using external preamp pedals with their HX Stomp?
uk_lefty replied to javi_bassist's topic in Effects
Interesting. I'm just starting to get to grips with my Stomp, and I also use a Rootmaster amp system that I love for its no nonsense decent bass sound with no frills or fancy tricks. I'm trying to get set up for playing live so interested to see what advantages you're getting from this. Having spent 400 quid on a Stomp as a single box solution though I'm already finding myself going back to the bad days of pedal-boarding... I've bought an expression pedal, which I may replace with a bass Wah, and I have an external bass synth pedal, I'll need a board to hold it all... -
I'm getting there with this pedal now... Still some things I can't do but progress so far has been good. I downloaded some presets off the Web for free, some have been ok and some are wide of the mark. Strange how we all want different things... I just thought it could be a shortcut to some usable tones or at least a starting point. I can't get over people selling their presets! Not sure I'd pay for any when there can't be too many variables in there if you know roughly what you're listening to. I'm glad I haven't paid for 90% of those I've downloaded. Anyhow, I built a few effects of my own. A synth that actually isn't very good now I come back to it, and a fretless sound that's perfect for 80s pop and I've been playing Wherever I Lay My Hat over and over. That's one on the new band set list. I don't have a spare block to add a tremelo but I'll copy the settings over, swap out the Bass octave for a tremelo and I'll have a Take My Breath Away effect. Super. I need to build up some usable synth effects so I can ditch my EHX Bass Synth. I've received my expression pedal now so will experiment with making some bass effects that involve Wah for a bit of Sabbath NIB and some other songs where I like to kick in some bass Wah. I also want to experiment with it in other effects types, something I've not done before. Overall, after spending some time with it I'm pleased. Still wish it had the best of the Boss GT10B Bass presets but I am a creature of habit!

I haven't tried to play along as yet, but generally I like the style of the video. No bull, no flashy slappity slap showing off, just doing* what a LOT of ordinary bassists are doing: working out a song for playing live. I'd watch more, definitely. *and doing an excellent job of

Thanks, Y cable sounds more fitting for me. I don't understand midi at all so a split cable seems best!

Also using the Boss. Have used it on gigs where stage space meant there was no room for pedals in front of my size 8s. It does the job and its handy in music shops when you don't want to look like a fool asking for a tuner.

I had a 1st gen V7 Vintage 5, Ash body maple board. Mine was heavy. As it should be, it's a lot of wood. No idea of variance as I ordered online. It wasn't uncomfortable for long gigs though, and it did a few! B string was strong and full, not floppy, consistent volume with other strings. Fit and finish nearly as good as a Japanese Fender in my view, though didn't have quite the same quality of feel. It was far better than I expected at the price point though. The tone, and the possibilities with the pre are fantastic. As good as, if not better, than all the demos. There's something for everyone in there. I didn't find the pickups noisy. They are very, very good value. I regret selling mine. Only sold it because I felt guilty about the number of basses I owned and had spent a LOT on a new US Stingray. Still should have kept the Sire though because I'm still lusting after one, knowing how good they are.

So I've got an expression pedal arriving soon, 19.99 off Amazon, rude not to. Does anyone know if you can connect both an expression pedal AND an added 2 button footswitch to a Stomp simultaneously? Or do both need the same socket on the back of the unit? The extra 2 buttons isn't a big one for me, I could just get used to snapshots...

Looks like someone made it at school in woodwork class. Out of their desk.

My cheapo expression pedal was out of stock. I paid in full, not being in a rush, but have had an email every few days with changed dates and last week an apology, an explanation as per the op on stuff just getting stuck in transit, and no idea when it will arrive. Not the retailers fault. EDIT: political remark removed by Rich

ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT PHOTOS NOW ADDED. I bought this on ebay to fit to a bitsa but my gamble didn't pay off and the heel width on this neck is sadly a mm and a bit too narrow. I don't want to fill and re drill and add veneers to the neck pocket, I'd rather just use another neck. Selling for exactly what I paid. The ebay description is below, but my impression is its a good solid clean neck. Nice grain pattern on the rosewood board. The sanded face of the headstock allows you to finish it as you please. Thanks Andy, it would need new holes drilling in to the neck just a tad away from where the current ones are. Not sure I want to risk it. Am now pondering selling both necks I have off and going back to Jinwan for what I originally wanted (painted black neck for the 80s Japanese Fender look) , or getting a fifty quid unfinished neck from a UK seller and doing the headstock in the same stain as the body.
