1.
Thanks for posting that Barry, that is indeed the same bass as this one!! Its pretty lightweight as well. Steve
I have to say this is pretty tempting Steve, I may have some money burning a hole in my pocket this week if my annual bonus ever pays out! Hope the pic works this time!
2. I know I've said this before but that Sonic Blue Sadowsky is lovely. Such a great 'stage' colour up against an all black outfit Is it a 35" scale with 19mm spacing at the bridge? Also - does it have the VTC circuit?
3.
It was also used in the film Still Crazy and was previously owned by Jimmy Nail who appeared in the film as the bass player.
I actually really liked that film I worked on some promotional stuff for it & remember Bill Nighy being a genuinely nice chap. Here's a clip and you can see Jimmy N playing a J bass: Bass looks really nice
4. I've been playing JB bass lines all weekend Bought the 'James Brown Rhythm Sections' book recently and really enjoying working my way through it.
5.
The main reason i've never had a bass made for me is the concern that it might turn out to be a dog !
Me Too I always thought I'd go for a Sei Flanboyant headless. Specced one out a few times but never pulled the trigger - too frightened it wouldn't be exactly what I wanted and it might have rubbish resale value. Knowing your current faves - how about a really nice Sadowsky with some sort of custom finish & inlays? So long as it doesn't end up being 'too' personal on the inly front then it'll hold value pretty well compared to a lot of Brit custom builds (which is a hsame but jsut a fact of life these days). Nick (oldhorsemurphy) has a nice little touch on his Shuker that references his better half, that might be an idea if you're genuine about a real 'keeper'
6. Anyone see Grace Jones performing Love You to Life on Jonathan Ross. No idea who her bassist was but I really liked the loping groove he was playing (probably Robbie Shakespeare on the album version?).
7. I used to own this & really liked it a lot - worked brilliantly with my SVTII Although it's quite old it's in fantastic condition. It was owned by someone who went travelling to Australia & never came back! It sat in his storage facility for several years (along with the SVTII) and wasn't played at all. From what i remember it looks almost like new
8. This really is a great looking bass, I much prefer the 'Modern' body shape
9. Is that a Shuttle 1x10 sitting on top of it? Just trying to get a feel for dimensions as I also have the 1x10 combo
10.
Cheers guys, also I forgot to mention the really nice birdseye maple fretboard.
Gorgeous, I love a nice birdseye maple fretboard!
11. My dad used to look vaguely like Billy Bremner (he was also Scottish which helped) & he was always being asked for his autograph. For years he used to politely decline and say he wasn't Mr B but people kept bothering him and eventually he just started signing autographs but saying he really didn't want to talk about his footballing career. Many years later I heard a tale on the Danny Baker show about people having two entirely different Billy B autographs and wondering if someone had been passing himself off as Billy. Obviously there could ahve been more than one person doing this though, lol.
12. Only a couple of hours from me I think so i could probably get there
13.
MINE!! . Stuart is a fine gentleman to deal with! And has some fantastic basses for trade/sale. Highly recommended
It's a great bass, hope you enjoy it. You will be only the third owner as I had it from new Well, other than the reviewer that had it for a short while for Guitar mag
14. Do you know exactly when in the '90's it was made? Just trying to work out if it was in the short period when Mike T was still working there after Gibson bought them
15. This seems like an outrageously cheap price for a funky looking hand made bass Loz is a super nice guy to deal with as well
16.
You're not a member of Parliament are you, by any chance.....?
Now there's a thought - how about a custom build Bootsy Collins Space Bass I think Larry Pless is still around (builder of the original Space Bass) and Manny Salvador built the latest Star Bass. If it comes in less than £4K you can spend the balance on some Bootzilla sun glasses & a set of wicked rhinestone platform boots

18. I would never had thought any bass was worth as much as £4K but now that I own a pair of US Spectors I do feel I can see how they might fetch over $5,000 new. I'm absolutely loving my latest one, so inspiring to play - just lets me play things I couldn't get close to on anything else I've tried.
19. Wow, I completely missed that one. From what I've read about him he was supposed to be a really nice guy, always cheerful & smiling etc. This is a nice little clip about him from an album launch: I rather like his version of Get Down It, a bit 'smooth jazz' in places but there's really nice bass playing going here: What a shame. . .
20. Really interesting post I've never even seen a Celinder in the flesh but they do look really nice & beautifully finished.
21. The 1510e is an absolutely cracking all round cab! Very rare piece of kit but with a great 'does everything' kind of sound
22. Wrong colour - gotta be sea foam green
23. Now paid for and collected
24.
If that person is on here.. JUST DO IT - YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT!
In order: He sure is, I'm hoping he will, if he does then I'm hoping even more that he won't
25. I have someone very interested in this & I've agreed to give them first refusal with a 24 hour 'thinking period' So - if anyone else is interested in making an offer I won't be able to confirm if it's still available for 24 hours from the offer time. Hope this makes some sort of sense
