1. Ziggy & I traded basses a few months back - transaction couldn't have been smoother and we had a really good natter at the same time too
2. I had this exact same rig for a while - kicks some serious ass I paired the 2x12 with an additional 2x10 but that was almost too much for me!
3. What a shame - I've seen similar stuff before but usually other parts of the bass are showing wear as well though
4.
Very nice indeed..is it a refinish? Si
Yep - refin body & replacement guard & pots / knobs. Everything else original as far as I know. The refin is believed to be about 20 years old so it's also beginning to show some age & wear now.
5.
That Bag End 12" is just tooo tempting...and I've got car tax this month....and my well paid weekend is looking wet and windy....its not good.
That oiled birch 15" is a pretty funky standalone cab at £450. Looks much nicer in the flesh than it does in the pics
6.
We're gonna have to see some photos of that one
Hera ya go - Obligatory 'quick snap on the sofa' moment. . .
7. Gone even more vintage now. . . '63 Sunburst P with rosewood board in the house Sits rather nicely with the '72 & maple board
8. I had a great SVTII (non-pro) for a while. Absolutely loved it but couldn't lift the bloody thing, lol. It came in at 125lbs in the Mesa Boogie shock rack it came with!
9.
Curiosity has had the better of me. Where is the shop going to be? I couldn't see on the website (which is full of nice toys).
I don't think it's confirmed yet - I think I saw a message on their FaceBook profile somewhere http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001212515302 that it would be about 30-40 minutes west of London
10.
Someone really needs to snap up the BagEnd 12" at £350, that's a steal.
Totally agree - I've gigged with just my 10" at pub rock volumes so I reckon the 12" would be a great little standalone cab. Maybe I could go for one and stack it between my 15" & 10" and start building a Bag End pyramid
11. This is dangerous for me on soooo many fronts! Moving anywhere closer to me is obviously the long term danger but the sale prices on some of the stuff Phil has up for sale are horribly tempting too I've had my eyes on one or other of those Alleva Coppolo KPB4's for a while. The Chuck R one is nice but the crazy metallic cherry burst is my favourite, looks like fun 'stage' bass to play under bright lights, lol. I really like the Fodera NYC's as well - I 'borrowed' this red flamed maple baby for a while & loved it The real 'bargains' are those Zon Standards at under £1,000 though. I was at the Yorkshire bas bash and right towards the end of the day someone plugged this one into a little MarKbass combo & it sounded great - everyone left in the place turned slowly round to see who/what was being played & a couple of others tried it & said how nice the Zon / MarkBass pairing sounded: The other thing I'm seriously tempted by is the Bag End powered cabs. I've got a BE 15" & a 10" and I really like them. The idea of one of these with a tiny little 1000w power amp in them sounds great. I think you can plug an active bass straight into one & you're away. Even cooler would be to use something like a Sansamp 3 channel pedal (which I just happen to have sitting right next to me now!) and use that as the pre-amp straight into the cab. I've been looking at the Berg & Bag End powered cabs for a while but they've always been up around the £1,300+ mark. Phil seems to have a few different speaker configs all reduced to £999. Right - where's this month's bank statement. . .
12. These do look interesting - looking forward to seeing how much they are going to cost
13.
Some Heavy Blues, we just finished our CD http://www.reverbnation.com/throwdown
I got a half empty glass and a full throated bottle of the blues
14. 100 Club is surprisingly cheap - loads of good old school vibe about the place too
15. Looks great - close to a combination of basses from my 2 favourite builders as well. And I'm a big PJ fan at the moment!
16. This little baby is about to head off to Australia
17. Hey Ville - did you get my PM
18.
I'm selling a '55 at the mo, not a gold guard yet though.
Slightly too old for me, very, very nice though
19. USA J Standard prices are all over the show & I think there's a fair amount of 'luck' involved in terms of timing. If you stick one up for sale and someone is particularly after that colour then it'll sell quickly. At other times a near identical bass can sit for ages because people just assume another one will come along soon I reckon somewhere around the £600 mark would be a decent estimate for a US J in good nick with a bit of movement upwards because LPB & rosewood board is a cool colour combo. The last few USA J's to sell on the Bay went for : £650, £625, £572, £557, £460 - the last of these was, IMHO down to the fact it had crappy pics, a refusal to ship and not brilliant copy! Personally the Ultra J's would add to desirability for me but you may not get their full worth if you sell them with the bass. They ought to help it move quicker though
20.
She's not alone.... Gold guards are sooo hard to photograph, they never look right??
Looks like you have too many there Rick, might as well have a bit of a clear out & sell a few off cheap
21.
Here's my '59, it also has all the original case candy, tweed case, original strap, original cable, '58-'59 catalog, and the original 1958 fender bass manuals (Vol1 & 2). The blondes are rarer though, the rosewood neck version even more so, although the maple ones are nicer IMHO. Click to enlarge...
That's another beauty Rick!
22.
I wasn't too far off then...just the wrong way round lol. Would have thought the matching headstock would commanded more bunce Si
I think the other one is virtually 'as new' and even has all the original case candy!
23. Interestingly the hang tag bass was described as "Norm's personal favorite" It therefore carries a $40K price tag (£25K). The matching headstock model is $25K (£16K).
24. Such a great player AJ. I saw Fodera had an Anthony Jackson Presentation bass available this week as a customer had a medical problem that meant he couldn't play it. It was a 'fully loaded' version with titanium bridge and truss rod - these babies sell at $24,000 new and I'm sure this one would have been pretty close to that price. . . . . .It sold in under 30 minutes from when it was first listed as being available.
25.
This bass is completely awesome. It's naturally quite aggressive, but rolling the tone back makes it go all mellow and round. It'll be back in my mitts one day.
I'm loving that 'tone rolled back' sound at the moment
