1. I'm with Luke Haines, lol "This Seasick Steve performance with JP Jones is the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of everything"
2.
Thanks for your contribution. It was really helpful . Anyway, moving on
Sorry thought the OP was "is anyone watching" rather than "who likes". I was watching, I didn't like, in fact, to be really honest, I thought he was atrocious and felt like that was a chunk of my life I will never get back
3.
I think Molan's figure of £650 would be a very good deal, but you can certainly get very nice used Stingrays at around £700 - £800. So I'd agree that one is over-priced.
Last Ray I had was an immaculate black 3 eq model. Cost me £600 without even trying to negotiate. Generally black and white go for slightly less than natural. Other colour prices bounce around all over the place but really nice Birdseye and flamed necks can definitely add value
4. I've tried many times to 'get' Seasick Steve but I find him duller than a very dull thing indeed
5. Great little 'workhorse' head from MarkBass - really reliable and a surprising amount of tonal flexibility once you get your head around the filters (lots of people seem to think you can use one or the other but my favourite settings are with both filters engaged).
6. Decent condition used 4 string Rays are readily available at around £650.
7. We were entirely spoilt by having a bespoke build stage and top notch sound crew so it wasn't too tough for us. It's a bloody tall ceiling though! If you get a chance see if you can get up to the balcony area that overlooks the hall when someone else is playing. The view of the hall with people in and music on is amazing. In fact, if it's open maybe get someone to take some pics of you playing from up there. They'll look great in the portfolio
8. The new price is not being passed on to dealers yet so there should be plenty of pre-increase stock kicking around for a good while yet. There's a lot less of the new stainless ones around so I think may be the first to start rising. Increases will only be applied to dealer orders post July 1st so should take some time to filter through. It'll be interesting to see exactly how far this will push the 'street' price up. Fodera prices are also rising on July 1st but it's only about 10%. Sounds like there might be a few more increases on the way as well
9. I've played in that hall - acoustics are great fun We played for a Price Waterhouse summer ball and it really was an amazing setting! Hope you have a brilliant time.
10. 12's are most definitely the 'flavour of the month' at the moment with the various different 2x12, 4 ohm, Neo cabs offering a great one cab solution for lots of people. Meanwhile I've just gone from a pair of 1x12's to a 2x10!
11.
Molan: i sense a business opportunity for someone who has a music store as obviously there is interest in their gear.
Now you come to mention it. . .
12. I hear a certain bass store near Reading has a big stock of Elixirs arriving soon
13. TecAmp have confirmed they do not have a UK retailer or distributor in place at the moment. Umm, interesting . . .

Sold

Or Closet even
15. I've written to them asking about UK distribution - will report back if I hear anything
16. I think the Lehle Basswitch can do this, p,us a stack of other things, as well. I know a few serious session and pro gigging guys who use these for live work and they say that they are fantastic little devices. http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/outboard-preamps/basswitch-iq-predi/
17.
A very stormy Monday! Also he did the original of "Ain't no Love" I believe. Sad Day. RIP.
Damn, I was listening to this just this morning
18. I gigged with one of these for a few years - loved how it sounded with a matching SWR Triad cab
19. Bought tickets for New Theatre Oxford and got 2nd row central seats. Haven't seen them since '76, wonder if they've changed much? .
20.
GAK stock Tecamp http://www.gak.co.uk/en/tecamp-puma-500/29873
If GAK say 'please phone' I think that means they don't actually hold any in stock. May be special order only.
21.
oh, so it is!!! I only used a J-Retro for two years! I should have known. Mine is currently waiting to be installed on my CIJ Jazz, so I have not used it in a while. I never noticed it was boost only on the bass.
I've had two previous basses with J-Retro's in and didn't realise the bass was boost only either, lol. Because it has a centre position marker I just assumed it was boost and cut. Always thought it was odd that I kept needing to cut bass frequencies, lol.
22.
? eh? They are cut and boost. Are you sure you are turning the right knob?
Treble and mids are boost and cut but bass is boost only (+15db at 50hz). There's a built-in contour when you switch in the active circuit but I'm not sure exactly what it's doing.
23. Ok, so I'm a complete dumbass when it comes to stuff like this Would it be possible to have something similar that makes 2 x 4 ohm cabs appear as a single 4 ohm load to an amp?
24.
They're adjustable afaik Barrie, so if you take it out you can probably adjust the parameters the parameters on the pots
I'll have to check under the bonnet and see what I can do I'd love an original Alleva Coppolo one really but Jimmy doesn't sell them any more
25. Ah, I think I know which ones you mean. I think they were built partly in-house at Fodera and partly by a third party company under Fodera's instruction. If I remember right the bodies were made by Fodera and the necks were out-sourced. I've never actually seen one in real life but I know there's a few of them out there
