1.
I 'm not a massive fan of big chuknky necks either.. but I'd got it into my head that they sounded better/fatter/fuller... Though I can not quanitfy that with any fact I'm afraid
Me neither, but there might be summat in it. I'd recommend a Jazz with a series / parallel (S-1) switch and a bifton set of Wizard 84's. But I have to say that 'cos I spent the first 2 months council tax, er I mean my hard earned cash on the upgrades. Nice GB, Ferret
2.
That 64 Jazz!
Yup, that '64's the one.
3. That Carl Thomspon with the Wal electrics that was on evilBay a little while ago that I wish I'd sold several of my less vital organs for. Anyone on here got it? Wanna sell it? Chuck some pics up for us mush!
4. 32" scale? Cheat! EDIT: This from the man with a very thin neck - I take it back.
5. £1 cheaper than a J-Lo Hyperdrive. Oh no, what am I to do?
6. Put a series/parallel switch in it & sell the P
7.
Anyone know if there'd be much of a difference in output level between a Wizard Thumper and an 84?
Give Andy at Wizard a ring, he'll know.

9. http://www.alembic.com/club/messages/402/2...html?1150007109 - Beware! - It's quite dull. I'm happy with the 2 vols on me Jazz and it's probably the only thing I haven't changed! There's also something about signal bleeding off when one pup is turned down, but I think that's only parallel wired and the P pup is series. And I don't know if the pan would be the same. Sorry, that's not really much help is it? If you do go pan, try and get one with a centre detent... Good call on the Wizards / Badass combo
10.
I might come along and shout "play Freebird" at you until forcibly removed by security.
I might join you.
11. Swap for a 2003 Marin Rock Springs with TF revalved shock & Avid Juicy 7's? I know, but I had to ask! And I dance like Mark Fowler.
12. Bet you get a nice honk out of that bridge pup being that close to the bridge. Brutal. Defo do the 84 thing.
13.
Remember: "The smiley face EQ is your enemy"
+1,000,000 Mid, Mid, Mid.
14.
Just took delivery of my Geddy bass yesterday and it's the first bass out of the last few that I just can't stop playing, had owned a USA P-bass which was ok, hadn't played a jazz before but am loving this version of it! Now I just have to look at that J-Lo Hyperdrive pedal...
Hey Smurf, top choice - has it got a sanded neck now? Post a review of thet Hyperdrive when ye get it, if I don't do it first...
15. I've had an Ashdown ABM EVO II 210 combo with an ABM 210 cab for a while now and it's not too heavy, even with my f##cked back. Nice sound and loud enough for most gigs that don't have a decent PA. The more speakers the better. Both fit on the back seat of a Focus together, leaving the boot free to lock your drummer / guitarist / singer in (edit as appropriate). Make sure they've been to the toilet and you've taken their lighters off 'em first, though.
16. Or these - http://www.amplifiercoversonline.com , they make to order Good luck.
17. Bass players are jolly nice people. Except for the one who wouldn't let me use his amp ("you can use the cab though"). Okay, I'll stick me 2x10 combo on top, which makes mine far bigger than yours, etc.... And yes, my SansAmp gives a lovely tone but I think the battery might just have died.
18.
Kneel before the kick drum and pray to your new master
Wise words indeed, there's nowt like a tight bottom. Fnarr.
19. I concur with the majority - Wizard 84's all the way
20. MIJ. And those Wizards make it sing even louder!
21. +1 Dunlops - I found the nut on the Schallers always came undone. The Dunlops are also more stable when the bass is stood on the floor. Of course, all sensible basschatters would use a stand....
22. I've had mine over 2 years and I'm well happy with it - the neck is the best feature. I think the new ones have a sanded neck as Geddy himself requested. He's even replaced the neck on his main Jazz with his signature neck. Top bass, but it didn't stop me putting a series / parallel switch & a pair of Wizard 84's (when they arrive ) in it though! I wish I could stop meddling... :brow:
23. http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/index.php?...guitars&a=4 and scroll to the Fender Japan non-export Aerodyne. Looks sweet & doesn't look bound. Or can't I see it...

BOSS LMB-3

I got one a few months back - the drummer says he can hear me better and the sound level is definitely more equal, even with my ropey playing style - all the peaks of pickup / fret slap seem reduced (except the ones I want) and there are less of those harsh moments. £40 off Nimrod looks like a good price, they go for more on ebay. I wouldn't trust a Behringer to take too many knocks... Snap the ENHANCE knob off though, just in case it gets turned on by mistake!
25. Mate, it never ends. The next choice will be to stick with me series/parallel switching or get a J-Retro? Thank God I can't afford wateroftyne's '73 Jazz! Love that middle bridge screw hole! Good ol' Fender
