1. I bought a pedal from Megagames. Quick postage, well packed and one happy Ratman. Job done. Thanks.
2. I just bought a pedal case from Ian. Really nice guy, and was patient waiting for me to get over to him to collect it too. Thanks Ian
3.
Just back from 7 nights on the trot in Wayne's Bar, Nice... Geez.... hot, sweaty, mental! Anyone know that gig?
Yes I know Waynes Bar!! One of my bands did a couple of one week stints there 3 years ago. Mental sums it up nicely. The gigs were so much fun, and the drinking that followed was legendary! On the second week we were there the air con in the pit had packed up, I have never, ever, played in heat like it. Most of the band at some point nearly passed out, no lie. All in all, fond memories. I did hear that they weren't using British bands any more. That's obviously not true so maybe I'll get back there someday.
4. I'm seriously considering searching down the thread about halal meat and oversized breasts. But my dilemma is this - if it actually exists it is likely to have me laughing even more than I have done already at some of the comments in this thread. And that's a lot, believe me! But I am really worried about long term psychological damage. I mean, halal meat and big breasts all wrapped up on one topic! That's got to be seriously warped. If I read it and decide afterwards that I wished I hadn't, I can't exactly un-read it can I. It could turn me off meat altogether, and then I'd be a veggie too. This could open new doors for my music career, so I can't knock that either. Ah, choices, choices.........
5.
usual story, drummers a bit of a tosser but has somewhere to rehearse and leave the gear , so Im in ...
Hear hear. Has anybody ever seen a kit with that paint job before? It looks like an electric kit to me. And have you noticed that he's got a tom to the outside of the snare & hats lol. The turkey! In his favour though, the rug matches the paint job.......
6. That's really sad to hear. I used to listen to him a lot, and I recently have been again. The master of keeping it simple yet blowing us away at the same time. RIP.
7. A humid evening. One of the sweatiest gigs ever. We were just dripping from the start. A good night though.
8. I've been using flats for about 2 years, and live they are amazing with my P bass. But for recording there just wasn't enough mid definition. I recently got the heads up on half wounds, so I fitted a set, and what a difference. they're a lovely half way between flats and rounds, like it says on the tin. For gigs they still have the depth, and it is nice to have the option of some more mids to play with which has been really useful as I like my overdrive pedals where the sweet sounds need mids to shine. For the studio work, the mid definition I craved is all back. I haven't had an engineer complain about them yet, actually I'm getting compliments on my tone and I'm often being asked what strings are on the bass. It's half wounds all the way for me now
9. I have to add Wham to the list. They get right on my t*ts, but the bass playing is always top notch.
10. I have a couple of sets of Sennheiser HD200's. I've had them a while but they're great for practicing quietly with. And they sound great with my Streamliner!
11. How about looking at the Squire P Special. I got one a few years ago for peanuts, new. It's a P body, J neck, P neck split pick up and the bridge J pick up. Controls are J type, vol, vol & tone. For me it's the best of both all in one. It's now got a new wiring kit fitted, with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pick ups. Total upgrade cost around £120. It does what a P should all the way but with the option of blending in a bit of bridge p/u bite. And the neck is nice and slim. It's a killer bass now and I wouldn't swap it for anything. Definitely worth a try if you see one, but upgrading the cheap stock Squire pick ups will transform the tone.
12. Hello everyone. I'm posting here as I'm desperately in need of a dep for a gig on this coming Saturday night. I only got told about the gig today and I can't be there. The band is the Empire State band, and the set is lots of Stax/Motown and some RnB, all standard covers. The venue is Dover Street Wine Bar in Mayfair W1. You arrive at 10 to set up & have a pint, on at 11, 2x45 minute sets and you're done. There's even a Hartke 1x15 combo at the venue so you can take the tube to the gig. It pays £65. Dress code is all black. It's an 8 piece band - male & female vocals, 2 horns, guitar, keys, bass & drums - so there's no need to get too fancy on the bass for this gig. Just lay down the grooves and swing the bits off it. If anyone's interested please give me a shout, I really need to find someone to do this ASAP. Thanks for reading. Alex.
13. For sale, my EBS Bass IQ black label envelope filter. It's one of the newer true bypass models, about six months old. It has been mounted on my pedalboard and is in immaculate condition, as can be seen in the photo below. It has hardly been used. As it's been on a pedalboard it does have velcro on the bottom. This pedal also has 3 useful trim pots inside the case. They are for, 1- high pass filter mix (dry signal high frequencies), 2- gain (overall pedal output when on), and 3- dynamic high pass filter mix (high frequency content of the filter signal). These things are around £160 new and I'm looking for £95 which will include the original box and signed for shipping to anywhere you like as long as it's mainland UK. I'm also happy for the buyer to come round and collect in person from London N4. I just don't use it and I need the space on my pedal board, so it's got to find a new home. Cheers
14. I can vouch for the sound quality of the Red Dragon pedal. I've got a Micro Red Dragon and it's just amazing. A wide range of dirty goodness available in one of these. Have a bump on me.
15. Would you be interested in a trade for an EBS Bass IQ? Hearing Sibobs MXR on Saturday has convinced me I need one.
16. Wasn't it a fantastic afternoon! Lots of great gear and basses to paw over, and nice folk to natter to. A big thank you to Mick, Lozz and everyone who helped put it together. And of course, everyone who turned up and made it what it was. Let's do it again sometime

18. At last I now know where I'm gigging Saturday and as it's not too far away the good news is that I will definitely be along to the bash on Saturday, so I'll be able to bring along my Berg HD112, Streamliner 600 and a couple of pedals to boot. I'll probably be there about 1pm. I'm looking forward to putting faces to names and meeting you 'orrible lot at last Seeya there.
19.
Could get a decent pole dancer for your next gig?
This has my vote.
