I played it before it was cool.

I love B flat, when played as part of a D minor (there's a name for it, I'm sure). I also really like F, and G, and D in general. A can be nice, as can C, but B and E can sod right off. G sharp is fun, just on its own. A flat is rubbish though.

Note on and off is all you get via midi or USB. You'd have to use control voltage to tweak stuff (using the Arturia Beatstep, for example).

And I’m glad to see such a wonderful result—a new product with the Sequential name.” Kakehashi is referring to Smith’s timely debut of a new analog poly synth bearing the Sequential name: the Prophet-6. “I wanted to celebrate the return of Sequential in the best way I could—by building the most awesome-sounding, modern analog poly synth possible,” said Smith. “The Prophet-6 is a tribute to Sequential’s most famous instrument, the Prophet-5. I think of it as vintage with a modern twist.” The new instrument features voltage-controlled oscillators, filters, and amplifiers. Its emphasis is on vintage analog tone with modern reliability. Kakehashi, now CEO of Atelier Vision Corporation, is no stranger to such altruistic gestures. He was the original bridge and facilitator in the cooperative effort between Smith and Japanese instrument manufacturers Roland, Korg, Yamaha, and Kawai to develop the MIDI standard. The goal of the MIDI standard was to ensure compatibility between synthesizers from different manufacturers to the mutual benefit of all. “Kakehashi-san is right,” said Smith. “This is really what MIDI was originally about—encouraging cooperation between companies that make the world a more creative place. One can only hope that Yamaha’s kindness inspires others to show the same generosity. The original spirit of MIDI lives on. And because of that, Sequential is back!”

Yes, the RNC has unbalanced ins and outs. Not sure how you'd use it for the final mixdown if you're recording individual things into your computer (through the interface), as they'd all be digital tracks, but maybe I've misunderstood, or it's a fancy interface that can do that.

Man, I had a pillow, a blanket and half of my wardrobe in my bass drum. My toms had huge wads of padded gaffa tape on them, and my snare was no different. It sounded amazing. Or rubbish. Although it was more the title of it, the bit about the last days of something... I was imagining a thing (disco itself, why not), or a life, a relationship, coming to a drawn-out end of what had been a glorious time, and there was sadness and beauty in that, as well as a bit of determination not to die just yet, to keep fighting. So, er, not very disco at all, or very dancingey, but that's where I ended up. All in about five or six notes. Oh and the title just came from something about the feel and mood of the first few notes of piano and Rhodes that I put together at the very beginning, and when I went to save the project I had to give it a name. I have a silly policy where I save projects with either the very first thought or phrase to come to my head, or the first words I see when looking around me. With a certain degree of licence, but hey, at least it's a system, right? And those three or four notes going round and round felt like the sort of music a very introspective, romantic, unlucky-in-love spy might have playing in her head.
