I've not done High School Musical, but I've done plenty of other shows. As long as you've got your reading together and you can follow the conductor you should be alright.
I did a few amateur shows years back (not HSM) but as a non reader I really had to do my homework, I spent hours working out the notes in the run up to rehearsals
I've never done a show where that's even been an option. Usually it's band call(where you see the dots for the first time),1 maybe 2 rehearsals, opening night. Not reading must be a nightmare if the MD has to make any cuts or anything.

If you want a Big Muff have a look at the Bass specific model. It's a good pedal...much better than the Boss if you ask me.

I basically just cover a 3 fret stretch for most of that riff. I play the high D# with my little finger, the C# with my first finger and then shift position so that my first finger plays the B.I then play the rest of the line between my first and little fingers, and use my middle finger in the C#,D,D# chromatic run at the end. It's not elegant but it works. Just practise the line really slowly, and you'll get it.
cheers guys thanks for your patience! ...never noticed the step change at the bottom...I really should read what I'm reading, but the piano bassline does work with those notes written...? Could the step apply to the treble only? Also found this... http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/misc_uns...the_boy_crd.htm I found A Bb B C D E F G kicking around here...and as my knowledge of scales is limited can't think what would fit these notes, so I'm guessing there is a key change at "Cause every time he pulls me near...."
The transposition will apply to the whole thing, not just one clef. Taking a quick look at those chords it would appear the the tune is in C major, but modulates up to D major for the chorus. The chord qualities of A and D major and B minor include the relevant sharps (F# and C#) to support this.

I don't see what the problem is. Just use your amp as you normally would at any other gig. If it's a big do you'll probably be DI'd and if it's small your amp will be big enough. I don't think you'll blow your cab by cranking the volume up anyway. I think there's a definite volume problem if you have to run your amp at full whack.
-
The first thing that I noticed about that particular transcription, other than the fact that it's a keyboard part,is that at the bottom it says 'recorded a whole step higher'. It seems to me that it has been transposed down to C for ease. I wouldn't say that it was in F from looking at that one page either,it looks like C major to me,so the recording would have been in D (two sharps).

I'm not a big fan of the shape of the Grooveline, but if it's what someone wants then I don't see why they wouldn't spend that much on an Ibanez.
Another country fan here especially anything that Alan Jackson does. His band is excellent btw.
I think Alan Jackson used to be really good, but he became a bit of a knob after 9/11 -
I know there are many X Factor detractors here (myself included). To those, a question: If asked to do the winners tour, would you?
Yes. The thing is,there is a big difference,I think, between being offered a gig in a pub playing X Factor/Beiber songs and being offered the actual X Factor or Beiber gig.
-
Why would you not do the Bieber gig if it was offered to you? It's a high profile gig, touring internationally in huge venues playing to thousands,TV appearances etc.....plus the all the spoils that come with touring with a (currently) big name act. Seems like a no brainer to me.
. I do get a bit hacked off when people (often musos?) dismiss the genre without giving it a proper listen.
I don't think any 'musos' can say anything when there are players like Brent Mason and Dan Huff on guitar and great bass players like Glenn Worf,Michael Rhodes,Dave Pomeroy,Mike Brignardello and loads more. Even more 'name' musicians like Brad Paisley have got major chops. Special mention to Jerry Douglas who's the baddest Dobro player around. -
Whats the hardest bassline you've learnt and why?
I recall the slap part in 5-G ( J Berlin) being a pig at the time. And he says he can't slap !!!!!!!!! Anything the guy does is very very clean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47aYmY0QLLc
He doesn't say he can't slap,he says he won't slap. Everything he played with Bruford was great-Joe Frazier is a killer line to play -
+1...although the BB (broad bass) body may not quality as a P body
Just as an aside,I know that Yamahas official line now is that the BB stands for 'broad bass',but I seem to remember that the bass was originally designed in conjunction with Bunny Brunel, hence the name. Am I alone in thinking this?
Have to say I was not at all knocked out by Verdine and Fred White when I saw them at Wembley. I know Fred was used as a session drummer a bit for that straight 4 on the floor thing which he did well, but I have a suspsicion that Verdine couldn't even play bass on some tracks...dunno where I got that from.
Yeah, there has been talk for years that Verdine doesn't play everything live. You can't knock their recordings though.
That little 'Jam' with Jools was excruciatingly bad. To think he put on his big hat and shiny suit for a mere two finger twenty second shuffle.
But if he hadn't then Jools wouldn't have been able to showcase his average boogie woogie chops.

What kind of pedal is he using to make his bass sound like a guitar?
Doddy replied to Darshan's topic in General Discussion
A guitar in other words.....
Not quite. It occupies the same frequency range but in every other way it's a 'bass'. -

Foley is a playing a custom piccolo bass made by A Basses. It's basically a bass tuned on octave higher. -
Ah right....are you the guy that uses a chain for a strap? Or was that the old bass player?
Very good! I would guess Pete academy will know this guy?
Maybe, but the listing is from a 'rival' music shop-and there is a bit of a strange music shop divide in Hanley.
