I'd imagine my rig weighs around that but obviously it's not a Behringer so it's worth taking to a gig.
BIN£250??
Not keen on the 50's and my problem with the 60's is the colour, otherwise it would be on my shortlist. Any other suggestions?
pity you have a problem with the 60's colour its a cracking bass
If you want a nice phat, vintage, tubey tone then not many amps do it better, but for an uncoloured hi-fi like sound you should look elsewhere. I've got an ABM500 and I love it.
a BIG +1 their after sale service is excellent as well, probably cant be beaten. They did have a few problems when they first shipped production to the prc (apr 07)but they have sorted that out.some people love them some hate them but obviously you get that with other brands.i've got the abm500 11 and i think its the dogs b******S!
Nope. Had a bounce back saying that someone wuld reply to me ASAP, but no answer... :-( Am considering getting an EVO II 2nd hand as they work out about the same price as the LG1000 with what they go for on eBay at the mo, and from my limited experience, have a much better handle on tone and overall sound quality
they are usually quick to respond.good choice with the head and if you want a 2x10 compact cab i have one for sale
Ok, maybe not high for what you get, but when you compare it to the ABM compact range its a lot more. Edit - Email just sent to Ashdown now.
have you had a reply yet?
Pushing there luck though! No way is anyone going to buy 4 cabs to go with a Little Giant... if you were going to spend that kind of money on a rig, then there are much better options But superfly cabs are somewhat hard to come by these days, and slightly over priced when they do crop up. If you search retaillers now, you find the odd 210 covered in dust going for £430 odd quid, which seems a bit high. The head is a great price, it just seems silly there are no nice compact 4Ohm cabs that are reasonably compact, to make the LG1000 a great package buy.
email ashdown with your thoughts im sure there they will give you an answer.might even start them making more 4ohm cabs!£430 for a 500w 4ohm cab with neo drivers a bit high???
-
when i tried the little giant 1000 it sounded a lot better through two superfly cabs than it did abm cabs.superfly cabs are nice and light as well.
So pairing it with the 2 Ashdown Compact ABM cabs (1x15 ans 2x10) is not a functional idea as they are both 8Ohms, putting 8Ohms into each load. WHich seems stupid as Ashdown seem to only make 8Ohm cabs, menaing they make nothing perfect for the Little Giant head... hardly a strong marketing idea!
you need to have a look at ashdowns superfly cabs which are all 4ohm,2x10,1x15 and 4x8.these were designed to go with the superfly amp which is now discontinued.the little giant has taken its place.ashdown also make a 4ohm 4x10 neo cab,bit more exspensive than the superflys though.

from van to soundcheck takes us forty minutes, bass, guitarist, drummer, vocals and usually lights.used to take thirty minutes before the smoking ban but now its outside before soundcheck for a quick drag
-
try ashdowns abm range.head + 4x10 cab would be under your budget,or try the head with a different brand cab.an abm cab sounds nice but there are better ones out there and less heavy,or if you want to splash a bit more cash try their neo classic cabs.As for ashdown bursting into flames that was mainly their superfly amp which had teething troubles early on and which is now no longer made. The abm head will be just as reliable as others that have been mentioned imo.
I find some of the apparently uniformed negative comments re the LM II a bit narrow and perhaps 'anti' for the sake of it. i.e. find something popular and then knock it down a bit. Bass gear is a bit of a fashion business/a search for that ultimate tone (does it exist) and I know many folks who have owned a LM II in their 'Grail quest'. I don't know anyone who has owned one and regretted it, some even move on and then come back to it later on. The same sadly cannot be said for Ashdown heads which have their followers but many detractors too. I always run my amp EQ flat and use the filters (never both together) to get my desired tone. Running both filters together seems strange to me as why fill and scoop the mids at the same time? Fairly obviously the cabs make a huge difference too as does the bass. In fact with an ACG pre amp most of my tone shaping is done 'onboard'. The GS112 Aguilars are great with the LM II and the filter can be used to fill the mids on these slightly mid scooped cabs for cutting through. But, I must confess I've never tried an Ashdown rig - I don't need to as I'm totally happy with what I've got
you are right what you say about knocking something popular thats why ashdown gets knocked on here!i have not tried markbass or actually heard one so im not going to offer an opinion on their sound, but no one regretted buying a markbass?thats a brave statement to make
