Hi everybody, I teach from my home studio in Chelmsford, Essex (CM2). I work as a freelance bassist and teacher of music technology (as well as bass). I enjoy using music tech to enhance bass lessons from metronomes to drum loops, jazz/funk backing track, loops and even actual recording -very useful if you're wanting to be able to record a bassline or solo and listen objectively to it afterwards. I can teach pop, jazz, rock, latin, slap - as well as music tech, sightreading, theory, even keyboard skills (piano was my first instrument). You can even have an hour's introduction to double bass if you're thinking of making the switch! I already have a few students from here, and the ages I currently teach literally goes from 6 to 60! We can do either weekly lessons, every other week, or just when you fancy/can afford it! I'm very flexible. I charge £25 p/hr or £15 per half hour. I do agree in general. I always think that the sax players I work with can 'get away' with a lot more than bassplayers. A silghtly 'out' lick will always sound better on sax than bass in my opinion. It means we have to work extra hard to sound good.

I've already gone on about these guys in another thread, but I've had numerous positive experiences in this store with Laurence, Tom and others. I have already dropped about £1200 on USA jazz deluxe and am almost saved up for the 5 string version. I am also planning on buying other accessories from them. They strike me as on the level, customer service oriented and savvy when it comes on online reputation. Keep up the good work guys!

Something that really helped with my intonation on both fretless and double bass was to use organ drones - literally a few minutes of an organ playing a C, for example, and playing through scales, arpeggios, melodies with the C for constant reference.
