  1. Today I rolled the fingerboard edges and cut the nut deeper (and it was already pretty good) and it has made an incredible difference. I do think I need to shim the neck as the screws in the bridge saddles are digging into my hand a bit. But I've been playing it for about 3 hours today, learning new material and I'm really enjoying it. Rolling the finger board was very rewarding actually
  2. WOW, just WOW sanding block and about 25 minutes. amazing. I feel like a clever person @Jean-Luc Pickguard thanks mate
  3. I've actually bought the first sanding pad that you recommended, so I'll give it a go tomorrow as am rehearsing staright after work I shall apply your technique, i used to be a metal polisher and I understand about letting the tool do the work and not applying too much pressure I'll post my results as I get them
  4. do you have a link to a video, as to how you did this method please. (so I can do it right first time)
  5. if this is as good as my HB PB50 then someone will be very pleased GLWTS
  6. the Harley Benton PB50 has a lovely chunky neck which will defo improve when rolled
  7. I'll try one of these then. It's an unlacquered maple board (Harley Benton) so should be fine
  8. Hi there has anyone done this and how did you do it please There are a few vids on Youtube buta bit of first hand knowledge would be good cheers
  9. I'm also thinking about rolling the fingerboard edges, if anyone has done it, how did you do it please
  10. I've only used Fender flats and they've been wonderful
  11. I work with a guy who has several HB guitars. I hink, if you get a good one, you become a fan. I'm going to shim the neck on mine I think. Maybe replace the nut as it looks a bit rough (seems to be cut ok though) atm it's my office bass and I wasnt there yesterday, so didnt have time to play with it
  12. You're Bournmouth way, will let you know, dates slowly being added
  13. nope, see the picture at the top of the page. well chuffed
  14. so it's turned up and it's very good. Yes needs a set up but crikey I'm impressed. Might need to shim the neck but I'll fiddle with the saddles etc later
  15. I must admit I pretty much sound like me. I changed from Ampeg to Ashdown a few years ago and my sound is still about the same. My biggest change is going to flats though. But they still sound like worn out rounds, if you know what I mean and I stopped changing string regularly because I like that worn out rounds sound these days
  16. maybe next year for me. I was gigging yesterday so couldn't attend. It would be good to meet you guys
  17. used to wear contacts for gigging all the time. I sweat a lot and it gets in my eyes, so by the end of the gig I was ready to take them out. I used to carry my lens case and pop them in the fluid and clean them when I got home, then I went to disposables and used to take them out at the end of the gig and chuck em away. Just over 20 years ago I had lasik surgery and didn't need anything at all. Wonderful it was. Now I need reading glasses but that's no biggy either
  18. yes plenty of times, I was being sarcastic really. It's very rare that I like the support band. Some of the best gigs I've been too are the ones without support. Main act on about 7.30 and on my way home before 10.00
  19. Last night at the Cambridge Corn Exchange a band called Barbara supporting I hate support bands, I'm not there to see them BUT THEY WERE SUPERB Fantastic song writing, I loved every song, I wished they could have played for longer. Look out for them https://www.facebook.com/barbaratheband
  20. nice boots, where did you get them
  21. Got our debut gig with The Americana Revue https://www.americanarevue.com/ coming up in 2 weeks, so I went shopping with my wife for some new clobber. The gig is completely sold out, which we are very proud of. Anyway, here's the gear Anyone else buy gear exclusively to wear at gigs
