4.
with a different pre in it can you still replicate fieldys signature click boom type sound, is it still possible to completely scoop out the mids? I thought there was some sort special doohickey type gizmo in the stock pre that did this
the original pre had a vari mid control and cut/boost. but it was the mids that i found to be lacking, the ACG pre is a different kettle of fish all together, it allows a lot more mid range through thus letting the bass be heard more in the mix. as for fieldy's sound, i cannot comment as i am not a fan of korn
5.
this is the one before the black version with the mahogany padauk sandwich body, the newer trans black version is just mahogany i believe. and this also used to be mine, in fact i think thats my pic up there!! i think i have the original preamp too......
hmm spree, the plot thickens....

7. Guys, due to overspending due to a bout of P bass GAS, i need to shift my other guitars, i have had no interest in my ATK400 so i have decided to put my modded K5 up for sale. i received this in a swap from Rayman and whilst i found it a delight to play, the sound was lacking to my ears. Subsequently, i bought and installed an EQ02 system and the difference in sound was there from the get go. i sold the ibanez pre amp on therefore i cannot split the guitar for individual sale. The bass itself is the fieldy from Korn signature model and has the following construction: Body: Mahogany core with Paduak fronts and back Neck: 5 piece bolt on wenge and walnut with a rosewood fret board, K5 inlay at the 12th fret. Pick ups: Ibanez ADX5 Humbuckers the neck is unfinished, i think that is the correct term and is an absolute dream to play, the string spacing is 16.5mm The body has no dings, only some indentations in the soft wood on the back where it has rubbed against my belt whilst playing. if anyone is interested, i shall post pictures of the back on the thread. i have put this up for sale for offers around £350 with the buyer arranging their own courier. if sent, it shall be packaged within a warwick rockbass gig bag, in a large box which should stop any damage to it. thanks for looking, Barry
8. hi guys, due to the lack of interest, i am going to withdraw these from sale. i am gassing for a P, so if anyone fancies a trade on either, or both, for a P, let me know. Cheers, Barry

16. no worries, will try to get some up tonight.
17. i know exactly what you are going through, i feel the exact same. my band recently split up, this was the band i started playing bass for. For a couple of years we wrote and played basic punkish stuff with basslines that were no too adventurous but were fun to play. myself the drummer and the guitarist have started a new band and we have been joined by an ex bandmate of my mates from another band that they play in. so far we have had a couple of jams and this guy has got me feeling embarassed at my level of playing. he is really good and is equally as good upon bass and guitar, he took a shot of my guitar as he had not played a 5 string before and i did not want to take it back, i wanted to watch him play it all night!!! when i got it back i felt really staid and dull in my playing based upon all the stuff he was playing. it was so disheartening that i thought about chucking it over the following couple of days but what i have decided to do instead is to start again at the beginning and try to relearn the way i play. for example, we were jamming an idea that we had and as usual i was plugging away all 8ths and 16ths as normal because i was tryin gto concentrate on the changes etc. the next time we go in, i am going to listen to them play and try to add my bass to the mix rather than plugging away over and through it. this will be me getting outside of my comfort zone and i am looking forward to doing it. to keep me going i have recently started using tab to learn how my fave songs are played, i never really played along with music before now apart from a few covers at the start of the band. this is helping me learn little bits here and there, i.e. learning the hammer on pluck off at the start of three days by janes addiction. i would also urge you to take lessons as i found lessons to be very helpful, unfortunately family sistuations got in the way of my lessons but i would like to go back to them one day. the gist of this rambling email is to say that i feel for you and i hope that you keep at it, as when a song comes together that you have had a part in, there really is no better feeling, is there? i apologise for my shocking spelling!!
18. i prefer my 5 now and if i pick up the 4s i have they feel strange now. mind you i use the B as a thumbrest most of the time!!
19. Russ, Check out the upgraded apple in ear phones, they have 2no drivers per plug and sound amazing. they come in a shade under £50 and should be available in itunes. cheers, barry
20. Hi guys, i was on the SD site and came across these pups, which i assume are quite new: Blackouts for Bass application Active pickups and electronics voiced for the aggressive bass tones of metal, classic metal, punk and heavy rock. description Blackouts for Bass represents the active bass soapbar pickup specifically voiced for aggressive music. Instead of the radical EQ boosting and cutting required to make flat, sterile pickups come alive, Blackouts for Bass delivers the goods with less tweaking. Blackouts for Bass have more of what you want: cleaner highs, deeper lows, and greater dynamic range than traditional active bass pickups. This high energy, expansive sound is capable of covering all your other gigs with ease. complete setup The full-length dual blades accommodate maximum string spacings up to 2.70" (68.5mm) for the four-string model and up to 3.10" (78.5mm) for the five-string model. basses The full-length dual blades accommodate maximum string spacings up to 2.70" (68.5mm) for the four-string model and up to 3.10" (78.5mm) for the five-string model available mods Available for four- or five-string bass. Same size as our Phase II soapbars (direct replacement for EMG© 35 and 40). Also available is a Blackouts for bass Tone Circuit , which offers two focused bands of EQ dialed-in to the frequencies that metal players need most. these sound quite interesting and i am going to check the dimensions against my K5, has nayone had any experience of these? cheers, barry
21. My ATK400, which is for sale: My K5 with an ACG EQ02 pre amp. this one is a definite keeper, although a pick up change may be in order... i also have an SRX700, which is also for sale and a GSR200 which was my first bass and is untouchable!!! the reason i am selling the other two is that the K5 is pretty much all i want to play. when i swapped the K% for my model t, i thought i would have it for a couple of weeks max as my first try of a five string had not went so well, but when i played the K5 it was an epiphany, it felt great. i didn't really get on with the sound in a live situatio which may have been due to a lot of factors but it prompted me to buy the ACG pre amp and since then i have never looked back. it is a great bass, the only thing is the big inlay, if that were a plain fretboard.... if any of you want to try a five, i would sugest searching out one of these as they are class.
