2.
but if the drummer can't keep time with the bass drum then you are probably better off looking for another band.
Agreed-this is rule #1-if the drummer's cr*p the band will never sound good.
 3.
Just a very quick straw poll here amongst us bass Chatters. What is the song you are most requested to play and can you beat being asked to play Wonderful Tonight 4 times in one evening by 4 completely different loved-up drunkards? Until Sunday night, I wouldn't have thought it was possible!!
the song we usually get asked to play is The Gambler by Kenny f***in Rogers - very popular here for god knows what reason....

I'm in a covers band at the moment and we are looking at playing more/different venues in the Northwest. If you know of any pubs/clubs in the northwest that are good to play at, then coul you leave me a name of the place and if possible a contact number? I can also hook you guys up with some gigs aswell if you want. Look forward to your responses. 17.
You can get the pots from Here. Im a complete novice when it comes to electronics and stuff like that so i would get someone else to do it for me. I'd guess that its not a difficult job tho becasue I have heard of others who have done this. Im not sure if its the 500k/500k or the 250k/500k pots that I'll need. Well done with the purchase tho As far as im aware the 4 Strings are only made in Japan. Nick
well, it arrived today and it's just a f***ing lovely bass !! everyone should be entitled to one on the NHS cos it makes me feel sooooo GOOD !! oh, and it sounds great as well which i suppose is also helpful....
 18.
Willie Dixon - He wrote and played on so many of my favourite Chess classics. John McVie - A huge influence, also Phil Chen, Kim Gardner and Rosko Gee, I used to watch these guys in pubs and clubs for years. Duck Dunn - When all the "clever" players have disappeared into the mists of time, Mr Dunn’s records will still get daily air play. Alan Spenner - Wonderful playing in the Grease Band and especially Kokomo. Reggie McBride - What a tone. This guy is Mr Understatement. And there's no room for Charles Mingus, Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins, Willie Weeks and George Porter Jr.
excellent picks !! all masters at nailing the bottom (oo-er missus!) james jamerson-'nuff said gerry mcavoy-saw him many times with rory jerry scheff-played on loadsa good stuff berry oakley-solid as a rock with the allmans victor wooten-saw him for the first time at byron bay bluesfest in april and makes you wants to give up playin cos he's so good
 19.
At the moment i use my Marcus the most prob because its the newest. I havent giged it yet as the day i bought it my band split. I dont use my Rick that much lately, i havent used it live in months. My Marcus will prob become my Main bass, My Geddy is D-tuned and my Rick is my backup. I was fooling about with my Marcus D tuned last night and it sounded amazing. Really growly. The only issue i have with my Marcus is the lack of tone control when in passive. Im thinking about swapping the vol controls for stacked vol/tone pots. Nick
are the stacked pots a straight replacement fit? where is a good place to buy those and do they come with any clues about wiring them? just bought a MM from ebay-due to arrive next week here from the US........
 20.
Yep they are built in Japan. I know of somenoe selling one for around £500 Pm me and i'll pass on his details. He'd prob go lower too..... Nick
just noticed your bass collection - between your 2 jazzes and your 4003 which do you use most? i only ask cos at the moment my main bass is my 4003 but i've always regretted selling my first jazz which was a ?73 american-made one, and i wonder if my hankering for another one is just a GAS attack?
 21. cos i'm thinking of buying one off eBay and people generally seem to think Jap ones are more consistent quality.
 22. here's mine-the AH200 soon to be replaced by an AH250SMX:
