1. Cheers for the tip, I will have a look tonight but I doubt that this is the cause. It does sound like something 'electronic' is awry. It really does sound like I playing a guitar through a distortion/overdrive pedal (albeit a very quiet one).
2. Anyone got any suggestions as to what could be causing distortion from my Phil Jones Double Four? It is there virtually every time I switch it on but the disappears after 20 seconds to a 2 minutes. The sound of my bass is either very very quiet and distorted, or as though I am playing through an overdrive or distortion pedal. Then it suddenly pops into full working order. Any ideas or suggestion gratefully received. Julian
3. Who are the 'premier makers' and what determines membership of that 'club'? I am genuinely interested to know, not just stirring.
4. I stumbled across this while channel surfing at the weekend and was transfixed. Some absolutely stunning playing - the pinnacle of musical talent from what I saw. Enjoy!: http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b0729r6r

11. PM'd re photos.
12. Top bloke - bought my GK amp and EBS cab from me. Great communication, unfailingly polite and courteous. A pleasure to deal with.
13. For sale only. Bought from here quite a while ago (10 yrs), used mainly at home with the occasional gig. Apart from the general fading to the wood panelling and cones, it's in good condition. 3db

A +3dB increase of the same sound source will be perceived as a small increase in volume. A +/- 10 dB change in the same sound source will be perceived as a doubling or halving of volume. I don't think a 1dB change in level is audible outside lab conditions.
16. This really is SUPERB piece of kit...
17. Just a heads up for those wanting some ABBA bass transcriptions, Aidan Hampson has done a superb job of transcribing 12 of the songs. They're available via his website: http://aidanhampson.co.uk/bass-songbooks/
18. Very sad news indeed. Along with Bernard Edwards, my favourite bass player - now both are no longer with us. Dancing Queen is an absolute master class, along with One of Us, Money Money Money, and Knowing Me Knowing You. Never get tired of playing along.
19. This gets my vote (closely followed by Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody), absolutely nailed here:
20. I think it's pretty clear from what Nile Rodgers says at 1:23 in this clip, that Bernard wasn't bothered about new strings. http://youtu.be/s4VfG0oFe3k
21.
I was thinking about that but I have to find an Eden 2x10 cab first & I'm on the isle of Wight so I couldn't collect it, Shame though, my Ken Smith running through one of these into an Eden 4x10 is pure heaven,, Al
Ah, glad to see my old AH600SMX is still going strong! I remember driving down to Pompey early one morning to drop it off for you. How long ago was that?
