  1. My first custom build bass, it's a 2nd hand G&L, someone else's spec but it is exactly what I would have specified. I can't wait to play it!

      Love that colour! :o

      It's stunning!

Not knowledgeable enough to spot the difference tho :(

Thanks, well I have had L2500 tributes before and I like them but the 3 way pickup selector always bugged me and (maybe I was unlucky) they were a bit chunky and heavy. This one has hopefully adresses those points:

It has a blend nob instead of the 3 way selector

is a very light at 3.4kg

Also has a seperate battery compartment, which I prefer and less inportant are the white dots, which look cool and also it looks like a carved top to me...ooh and the stunning colour of course.

It looks like it is the bass for me!

It is a big purcahse for me so fingers crossed, I nervously wait to see if it is.

      I'm sure it'll be fab :)

      Enjoy!

  2. Cort A5's are good, any SR Ibanez from SR505 and above
  3. If you want nice necks and great value for money a used high spec Bass Collection e.g. 320 is usually a great buy. Alternatively Fender mex of Chinese Dimension basses maybe. If you don't mind a slightly wider neck maybe a G&L L2500 or Yamaha BB? They are all pretty good gigable basses.
  4. Very nice, you don't see many of these around at this price.
  5. Lemmy and Hawkwind for me, their stuff was all bass driven until the mid-70's. Also Rod Clements from Lindisfarne who often played fretless, which I found interesting and at times quite haunting
  6. Yep Stingrays...can't go wrong with them
  7. I remember owning that G&L L1505, I found it a joy to own and play but maybe a touch heavy and I couldn't quite the sound I wanted with my band so I sold it on. I now use a Fender Dimension HH Standard and am very happy with it so I guess it gets my vote. It is passive and I get the tone that I want just by dialling in different amounts either the back or front pickup. It hits the spot, years of GAS cured...for now!
  8. Bargain, I have a Starla with Bigsby. These are outstanding value. GLWTS
  9. Well an update is that my Amazon D'addario string order failed to arrive so I got myself a set of EB 045-130's and couldn't be happier. There was nothing wrong with the tapewounds on it but it just wasn't the sound that I wanted to achieve or had in my head when I bought the bass. To say that I'm happy is an understatement, I'm really blown away with this bass/string combo. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Yep it's a 705. It will be interesting to experiment a bit. Thanks all
  11. Well as no one answered but just in case anyone is interested I have ordered a set of D'addario Chromes to compare them with the Labella Copper Tapewounds and go with my favourite.
  12. I'm really happy with my Eden, very cheap but great quality provided you can live with the 15V supply. I use it for prog and for a subtle effects on Fretless. It is permanently on my board as I use it with other effects for a totally spaced sound.
  13. Hi, I just got myself an Ibanex SRF705, which has copper Labella Tapewounds fitted (or at least I think that is what they are as 4 have a black winding and one has red). It has kind of thrown me as I quite like the sound, especially while muting but I also liked the stock strings on a one in PMT that I played a while back. With its strong piezzo sound I really don't have any experience or reference points. What are others using or would recommend for their SRFs? Your thoughts would be much appreciated
  14. I've had a whole bunch of nice basses I have always struggled with Jazz basses so can't comment on jazzers but I love MM's and G&L's and at the moment my favouorite precision sound comes from a G&L SB2 and my favourite humbucking bass is currently my Fender Dimension Standard. I hope that doesn't confuse matters more 😎
  15. Swap you for a Dean Fretless 5?
  16. Nice bass and a trusted seller!
  17. Seeing as the bass is sold there isn't much point in me hanging onto the fretted neck. It is used, nicely figures and rock solid.
  18. Me, a 5 stringer would be nice but I'm happy with my Dimension %
  19. Aha, question answered I guess. I hope that you get on well it it Note: I'm a big G&L fan and have had Tribulte L2000's and L2500s. My facourite bass is an SB2 but I would like to try a US L2500 at some point.
  20. Very nice bass, How are getting on with it Haz?
  21. Using my trusty steel ruler it looks like 43mm
  22. Wish I played 4's, I always fancied on eof these GLWTS
  23. Well done, it's a stunner!
  24. Thanks, I think I'll see if I can do the swap. My main bass is a Fender Dimension so this more of a backup in any case. If I don't use it I'll sell it on
  25. Natural, lightweight at 9.7lb, plays like a dream. Up for sale somewhere on here.
