    *Amp now sold* £400 for the svt 810 Hi, up for sale is my Ampeg SVT 810 and SVT2 Pro rig I bought from Derek when I was in a Simple Minds tribute band. I'm no longer in the band and sadly its a bit overkill for the three piece I'm in now as we don't require any backline. The Ampeg was only used for one gig and only a handful of rehersals. Sound wise, typical ampeg power,punch,clarity and with the ability to project and fill a room. Tried this with a precision and wal, both sounded amazing. There are also a couple of tatty but functional flight cases that came with it which I'll throw in. The amp was serviced prior to me buying it and the cab dates to the late 70's. The 8 x 10 cabinet was with me for most of my time with Simple Minds, and has travelled all around the World with me, and has played most of the Worlds most famous stages, including Liverpool Empire, Hammersmith Odeon, Madison Square Gardens,Red Rocks Colorado..etc etc etc...     Big thanks to Perry for taking the time to help me with a problem I was having with my Smith bass. I was at the point where I was seriously thinking about selling this bass after only having it for a few months. Perry knew exactly what i was looking for sound wise and pointed me in the right direction Top man who knows his Smiths Cheers matey

    I've just swapped a high end bass for another high ender from Oliver. Bass was shipped from Germany in an extremely well packaged box and it arrived safe and sound and on time. Doing these kind of deals takes a great amount of trust on both sides, and im glad to say Oliver is true to his word and i wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again, all round great guy! Stuart

    Just bought an Alembic from Barrie, every stage of the transaction was perfect, from keeping the bass on hold, arranging couriers, and shipping the bass perfectly (not even a mark on the outer box) Barrie is a great guy who cares about his basses and is totally trustworthy, I would not hesitate to do business with him again.     I've recently purchased an early 80's Ampeg 810 and discovered two speakers are distorting, feels like scratchy voice coils. Having trouble deciding on speaker replacements for them. I think the cab has a 5K rolloff and it could do with a very slight increase in the top end. Looking at 32ohm 80w 70Hz-7kHz Trace Elliot speakers, would they be ok? or would the lower power and frequency response make that much of a difference? before I have to stump up big bucks for the more expensive original replacements. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance Stuart

I've never refinished a guitar before so this is all new to me Cheers Richard[/quote] Hi Richard You would use the wet and dry to knock out the orange peel, but if your finish is already quite good I would skip the wet and dry and go to the compound stage. The compounding stage serves the purpose of flattening the marks left by the wet and dry stages, so I would use a light compound polish . After this, you could leave the finish alone for a few months or use a glaze( a glaze is just a polish without abrasives and silicones) After you have left the finish you can use the wax of your choice. Remember if you use a polish, some polishes can be abrasive and inflict micromarring/scratches. Hope this helps a bit Kind regards Stuart

    At the painting stage, avoid using silicone full stop.Once the paint has cured, flatten the finish using your chosen compound, then step down to a finer finishing compound, then use a glaze to finish. Using a wax or polish at the last stage traps the natural gassing process and could cloud your finish. Some say wait 90 days before using a wax or polish.
