1.
Would you accept 35p now I've slept on it?
I can't believe it. A lowball offer in this very thread !
2.
I'll give you 50p for your original post.....
Deal ! I'll PM you my PP address (gift transfer only please ) !
3.
Low offers are just low offers, but insults on the internet are pretty stupid.
Thanks, I feel the same. It's good to know that most folks do not seem to think I'm out of order if I make a lowish offer. It's also surprising to see how opinions vary so much on this though.
4. I'm a regular user of this and other forums to sell and buy used gear. In the course of this I have regularly received low offers for stuff I am trying to sell. If it's too low I simply politely decline. If it's low, but I'm really keen to get rid of the item I might just accept. Today I made a trade offer to a member here and was accused of it being "worse than a lowball". I have to say that I was a bit upset. My offer was on the lowish side, and was slightly advantageous to me as I was not desperate for this guy's item. Also, from things he had said, I knew that the guy seemed very interested in my item. I thought he had slightly overpriced his item so I offered a trade with 25% more cash coming my way compared to the cash difference in the prices we were both asking on the forum, so no biggie. Anyway, he clearly felt rather insulted, as if I had made some personal insult, and made this "your offer is worse than a lowball" comment. So, how exactly how would you define a lowball ?, what is one ? is it insulting, or normal practice than one simply declines if it's too low ? Do we not all offer slightly lower prices in the hopes of getting a bit of a bargain at times ? It just got me thinking this morning that I really have not felt the slightest insulted whatever price a person might offer me. It's no skin off my nose, and I can simply say no. But it seems that others feel different. I know that the word "lowball" comes from the US, and my perception of it is that it is a derogatory term. Interested in your thoughts ..... I really don't want to go around insulting people.
5. Bump with small price drop to tempt interest.
6.
Thanks for the link to the mod though, might consider that later!
You're welcome. I'd thoroughly recommend it. Even folks with only basic soldering skills should be able to manage it.
7. Yes, option of annual fee or a small per-sale fee. Plus free advertising for low cost items. All sounds very good.
8. People posting don't seem to be aware that the bass big muff already HAS a mode to blend the dry signal with the fuzzed signal ! In itself it is not as useful as it could be as you have to endure a volume boost when you switch it on, as it always gives you the full 100% dry signal plus whatever fuzz signal you blend in. BUT, there is an easy mod to add a master volume to the whole pedal which gives you complete control over the level of wet/dry blend and the overall volume out. Go to http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1850724 for details.
9. Firstly, I strongly prefer the older for sale forums, rather than the new classifieds for reasons already stated by others. All the discussion about people paying to advertise here seems to be based around either the fixed yearly fee OR a per-item fee. Each have negatives, so why can't we have both as a system. So people who pay the, say, £20 get a years "free" advertising and those who don't .... have to pay £2 per advert. That way people who advertise only occasionally are not put off by having to pay £20. But those who advertise a lot still feel they are getting a decent deal. Also, I think the 36hr bump button has a potential negative factor that people have not mentioned. Certain users (often people who only join the forum to sell something, or only occasional visitors) may press the bump button, and then forget about the advert, ignoring it for weeks or months. Unfortunately, their advert would still be continued to be bumped. It surprises me how many people post adverts and then don't access the site again, or maybe not for weeks/months.
10.
anybody got an idea how to upload pics or whats up with the uploader? its not registering any of mine :/
With the current issues with the site, you will need to get them hosted on another site like photobucket or flickr, and then link to them in your posts here.
11. Thanks for your comments guys. Still available.
12. If you need convincing then maybe it's not what you really want to do. And we've all been in bands with folks who are a bit so-so about it. If you want to take it further, why not take a look around at what bands are looking for bassists. You'll know if something really takes your fancy or not. Only worth getting involved if it's really what you want to do though. Sound like you are well experienced enough to ask all the right questions before joining a band also. Good luck in your decision !
13. What cab will you be using it with ?
14. If this doesn't go soon, I may well keep it ............ Hmmmmmm ...... Someone please buy it and take the decision out of my hands.
15. Brand new set of strings fitted this morning
16. now SOLD elsewhere Very recently aquired from a fellow Basschatter (the original owner .... thanks Gareth !), this 2006 German-made Warwick is a beautiful instrument. Simply in mint condition. It has had very very minimal playing time. Just one or two tiny, tiny scratches that are not even photographable (I mention this as I cannot describe it as in "perfect" condition). There have been a lot of ins and outs with basses at chez-Hamfist recently, trying to find "the one", and I wish I could keep them all. The tones from this bass are everything I'd want but the neck is just a bit too chunky (deep front to back) for me, being more used to Status, Lakland and Jazz size/shaped necks recently. A seriously versatile bass with it's dual MEC MM humbuckers, each one individually switchable for series, parallel and single coil modes. The single coil tones are particularly nice IMO. The other controls are master volume and pickup blend. It has a swamp ash body with a maple neck and a wenge fingerboard. It has been my first Warwick, and I have been so impressed at the adjustability of the neck, nut and bridge. They even go so far as offering adjustable nut height and bridge string spacing. Wish other manufacturers would make this more available ! Suffice to say that you should be able to adjust it to whatever action you like. Currently adjusted to my tastes. Nut width - 38mm Neck width at 12th fret - 54mm Bridge string spacing from E to G - currently 55.5mm (adjustable) Neck depth at 1st fret - 20.5mm Neck depth at 12th fret - 28mm It'll come with a Warwick rockbag and the original Warwick user kit, with the manual, all tools, beeswax etc. £699 couriered to your door in mainland UK. Please check my feedback as I have had a number of really good transactions on this site. Will pack it in the gigbag, double boxed with a mass of soft packing and bubble wrap. Enough to withstand a nuclear blast. Sorry, not looking for any trades. Shipping abroad would also be fine, please contact me for costs. And a demo vid I just made of the bass. Enjoy me in my pyjamas & dressng gown ! OK here's some pics...... 17. I think we should all also consider a decent running in period for new cables. They can be very dellicate until properly broken in.
18. I've been through the LMIII, MB500, terror bass 500, ABM500 and GK 700RB II. Finally settled on an Ashdown Spyder 550 which, although is not the smallest, lightest amp in the world, does what I want. Simply a great, clean bass tone, with punch and authority, with all the tonal adjustability I need. For Genz, take a look at the Shuttle 6.2. A very high quality product.
19. I don't really do any music shop browsing these days. I'm an online buyer almost exclusively. I have had multiple very pleasing purchase experiences with Digital Village (love their 4 year warranty), Hotrox, Effects Power Supplies, Stringsdirect, GAK & Nevada. Also Soundslive have also treated me well, although are a little slower than some in refunding returns. The only relatively nearby store I go to in person, which has any sort of range at all is Nevada, near Portsmouth. If I go on a weekday, they are usually pretty helpful and let me play what I want, for however long I want. However, the range is fairly limited for bas. All the Southampton stores only have the standard Fenders & peaveys etc so it's only on very rare occassions I go to any of them.
20. Just bought a Warwick Streamer from Gareth. What a top, top bloke to deal with. Has real integrity, an absolute pleasure to buy from. Very good communication. Kept me informed every step of the way too. The bass was utterly immaculate, and packed well enough to survive a nuclear blast. Buy from Gareth with confidence.
21. To much worry about what people will think of you going on here. If it sounds better with the full rig, take it all. Period.
22. SOLD .... nothing to see here. 4 string Status Energy, in sea foam green, from the late '90's. Made in England. Two (passive) Status hyperactive soapbars, plus active tone control, master volume and pickup blend. Be aware that this bass puts out plenty of bass, yet also as much treble as you want ! For a one knob active tone control it's quite useful actually. neck is re-inforced with a graphite rod either side of the truss rod and is very stable. Absolutely stunning action and playability. nice slim neck. Comes in at exactly 3kg (6.6lbs) on my rather cheap bathroom scales. It is a pleasantly light bass, and hangs very comfortably. Certainly an easy bass to wear for a long gig. In really quite excellent condition for it's age. Just a tiny bit of buckle rash on the back and a few other really minor marks which don't detract from the generally really nice condition of the bass.I have been so impressed with the incredible playability of this bass, that I have just bought a Status series 2, hence the sale of this energy, I need the money to pay for the S2. Will come with a Status gig bag. Sorry, no trades. £349 collected from Southampton or £359 couriered to a mainland UK address. Please see my feedback as I have sold a fair few basses, amps and pedals through this site. All with very happy buyers. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me or phone me on 023 80410737.
